“The environment is great, the menu is very diverse, and seemingly commonplace dishes manage to be innovative in flavor”
“All of my experiences at L’Ardente have been phenomenal. The food, the atmosphere, and the service are all top notch!!!”
“Brunch is amazing. Bottomless margaritas and the churros are excellent!”

“Finding a Filipino restaurant isn’t easy. So learning about Purple Patch thru Jo Koy—has ended this search! Literally, Filipino cuisine heaven! The restaurant is uniquely decorated, the staff were friendly, & the food hit that major comfort button for us! Thank you Zahara for being so sweet & a wonderful waitress. We can’t wait to come back for more!”

“Walking past and dropped in for dinner. Great tasting food in a good serving size. Staff extremely friendly and quick. So good we came back the next night for more. Ww tried different dishes and again simply superb meals.”
“Excellent baked goods! We get stollen each Christmas, it’s a 30+ year tradition in our family. Several years ago, our favorite bakery we ordered our stollen from closed. Since then, we have tried various bakeries. Unfortunately, none have been as good…until now. Ravenhook Bakehouse stollen is the BEST we have had. It has outstanding texture and the amount of fruit is perfect. The figs were a nice surprise. Additionally, we also had the pecan bars, as well as iced Christmas and gingerbread men cookies They, too, were delicious. The pecan bars crust had the buttery goodness you want from a pecan bar, but weren’t greasy as some can be. The pecan filling was perfect. The gingerbread cookie had the amount of ginger you look for in this classic holiday treat. The iced Christmas cookies were classic in the best way.
We placed our Christmas treats order online and picked them up at the DuPont Circle Farmers Market - it was so easy. Additionally, Ravenhook has friendly customer service. I called with a few questions and the baker was extremely helpful.
We look forward to sampling more Ravenhook baked goods in 2025!”
“If you're looking for a great night out, the Donahue is the perfect place to go. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, with just the right amount of buzz and energy. The food is delicious—fresh, flavorful, and made with care—and the drinks are top-notch. Whether you're looking for a fancy cocktail or just want to kick back with a beer, this place has everything you need for a great night out. Best of all, the service is attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this fantastic dining and drinking experience!”
“Every time I have been to Mixxed, the experience has been a 10/10! From the strong drinks to the tasty food, this is the place to go, not to mention the staff make this place even better!”
“If you want great food & excellent service this is the place to go to. The staff is very friendly. Flavourful juicy best tacos 🌮 ever had in the DMV area. Drinks 🍸 🔥 A MUST try spot 💛”
“Agora DC made my husband’s surprise birthday dinner party one to remember! From the superior customer service and professionalism of their special events management team, including Tsednia Abay, to the Michelin Star-worthy food and service, no detail was left untouched. Thank you to your entire team!😍”
“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!”

“We went for the summer restaurant week. You get a cold and a hot appetizer, assortment of sushi and a dessert. We opted for the soft shell crab and shabu shabu ramen, both were delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Sushi is top quality and decadent of course. Hojicha pudding is uniquely toasty and silky.
Not all RW deals are worth going, but I’d recommend the selection at sushi taro for the quality and the value of the food.”
“Such a superb dining experience. I was solo so sat at bar and my waiter went above and beyond with exceptional wine and food knowledge and service. The food was subtle, creative and beautifully balanced. Everything just worked. I find US restaurants rarely have ambiance but Tail Up had great lighting even if dining room was fine but unremarkable. It was a brilliant experience of a brilliant kitchen, sommelier and serving team. Thanks for a DC highlight”
“Albi is exceptional! Such a great evening with amazing food. The only, and very small, issue we had was the volume in the restaurant. We had a hard time hearing the server a few times. Nonetheless the food was fantastic and the wine pairing really topped the evening off.”

“Wow! Probably one of my new favorite spots in DC! Literally everything we tried was phenomenal - and I think these are the best fries I've had in DC! I got Madam VP Heritage, and my husband got the Mumbai Mariachi. Our kids got the Classique Grilled Cheese, which was delicious (I want to know what bread they used) and perfectly balanced with the ham and Swiss. We finished our meal with the alfajores, which I didn't get a photo of because we gobbled them up. But I was incredibly impressed with the food and service. Reasonably priced (especially for where it's located), bright and airy. It is a bit small, so it would be difficult to accommodate a large group, but there's plenty of seating, and there were several folks here reading and just hanging out on a Friday mid day. I can't recommend this spot enough - as a gastroadvocacy spot, it was already intriguing enough, and the diverse (and changing) menu is exceptionally executed! Excited to come back and try more things on the menu - with a side of fries!
Vegetarian options: There are very clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options. It's not an extensive selection, but they are delicious!
Parking: It's definitely in a difficult area to find parking since it's in the heart of the city and close to many tourist attractions.
Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu, but it's reasonably kid friendly otherwise. Our kids really enjoyed the grilled cheese and fries and cookies. May not be suitable for children who are very picky.”

“Some fantastic and clever vegan options taking influence from a variety of global cooking styles while painstakingly limiting to locally sourced ingredients. Service was incredible, and the atmosphere was surprisingly casual. Some particularly strong mushroom options and one oyster on offer for those wanting it. Maybe bc it was winter, I found the menu very homey and hardy without an over reliance on showmanship or crazy techniques and processes - at least in comparison to a lot of modern fine dining.”
“There was a reason why I was anticipating to go to Dōgon... It was too good!
I was excited to finally snag a reservation for myself and my significant other. Reservations are highly recommended if you want to avoid a long wait. When we arrived for our reservation, we received a warm welcome and we were escorted to a lounge area as our table wasn't ready. The lounge was intimate, plus there was a cocktail menu. We were able to start off with drinks first. We were here for about 15-20 minutes before being seated.
Once we arrived to our table, our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the entire menu in detail. We shared the cornbread, hoe crab and fried whitting sliders to start---chef's kiss. I then enjoyed the oxtail dish that came with a side of rice peas. This dish was so flavorful! Lastly, we finished off with the rum cake which had a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I loved my experience and can't wait to go back!”

“We had an early dinner before attending a performance at the Ford’s Theater. We made reservations through Open Table and were immediately seated upon arrival. The service was great. Our server recommended several dishes that we loved. There were abundant vegan and vegetarian options. Chilorio de Res tacos were mouthwatering as were the Hongos en Milto ones. In fact, every dish we ordered was delicious. One dish (chilaquiles) never arrived from the kitchen but we were pressed for time so we opted to have it taken off our bill instead of waiting for them to prepare it separately. Dessert, Cafe de Olla, was phenomenal. Pics are only some of the items we tried. Great atmosphere for date night and a milestone birthday celebration. Highly recommend.”
“Went there to celebrate my birthday. Sushi was very fresh and perfectly prepared. The slices were excellent, which made the fish delicate, tender and without too much dark pieces which have more fishy taste, no tendons/skin/muscle to make it difficult to chew. It was a delightful experience! The amount of different fish/seafood species was surprising. A special place to go to celebrate, if you love sushi. We paired it with a nice bottle of Italian Sparkling, which was an excellent recommendation by our server.”

“My Favorite Subway! Open 24 Hours and the staff is very friendly.
I live nearby and I’ve discovered that preordering your sub through their app works wonders! The subway app sometimes offers Buy One Get One deals, which basically brings back the $5 footlong!
I wrote my favorite order in a note, it’s for a DELUXE Tuna Sub:) this is what I include in my notes, and they perfect the sub every time ❤️
“Toast bread & cheese first. Please don’t microwave the tuna. 3 lines of light Mayo. 5 lines of sweet onion teriyaki. Cut into 4 pieces please”
Tbh the sub with extra meat can get a little dry, but the sweet onion teriyaki really gives it a kick.
P.S. The new dippers are kinda fire, the Baja chipotle dipping sauce is a dub
10/10 would highly recommend”
“I get my food here all the time for lunch one of their busiest times, and they’ve never failed me! Hogies are always delish and their drinks, 10x better than starbucks. If they make a mistake they are always more than willing to fix it, and today was the first one since months that i’ve been coming here for lunch. they get the job done and it’s always yummy.”
“The employees in this McDonald's were awesome. The food was hot and fresh. I felt really bad for the employees when, during my visit, they were verbally berated by other customers. Nobody deserves this... especially people who are just doing their job (and doing it well).”
“It's very clean and spacious. Lots of tables and seats, excellent for family get together. Orders are prepared very fast, and people here are polite.
Parking: I love The crispy chicken. It's so tasty.
Kid-friendliness: Very friendly store in a nice neighborhood.
Wheelchair accessibility: It's flat. Easy to enter”

“Nous avons passé une superbe soirée au Convivial. Merci à toute l’équipe et tout particulièrement au jeune serveur très gentil fan de dimitri Payet ainsi et surtout au chef toulonnais qui a régalé nos papilles en côtoyant l’excellence avec son poisson au pistou et les côtes d’agneau. Une petite famille du sud de la France, allez l’OM et le RC Toulon 😉.”
“Pub like atmosphere with an eclectic menu. Service was pretty good, and certainly helpful and friendly. The menu is somewhat like a tapas place in that the portions are fairly small and if you go hungry, you may need to order more than one. Has an outside area, heated, where you enjoy the official bird song of Washington DC - the police siren.”
“Our son lives in the area and we have been here 4-5 since January ( every time we visit) The owners are wonderful and the staff very attentive The fish taco appetizer is wonderful ( can be enough for an entree if not wanted a big meal) I’ve had many of the entrees and never a bad meal . The chocolate dessert is my go to”

“Restaurant Week lunch menu was excellent. Good variety and enough choices for the 3 course menu. Can’t go wrong with any options. Excellent service. Bar area is nice-wish the dining room decor was as interesting as the food. (Maybe that’s the point—the foods the thing!)”
“Such a great experience! We chose the tapas experience and lemme tell you, it got us so full! Didn’t have a chance to try the cocktails but the mocktails were great. The presentation of the food and drinks were spectacular. The aesthetic of the restaurant was warm.
Can’t wait to be back!”
“First visit; I went for Restaurant Week. I ordered the chicken corn chowder, the short rib ravioli and the caramel cheesecake. The chowder was excellent, a great balance of corn and chicken and a goodly amount--but not too much--pepper. I loved it...and a very generous portion! The ravioli was super too--cooked to perfection, stuffed to capacity with cheese, accompanied by a nice hunk of well-seasoned and -cooked short rib. I wasn't able to finish it, so I took some home. I took the cheesecake home too and ate it after a couple of conf calls. Just the right amount of caramel with a couple of strawberries and a creme Anglaise sauce. Scrumptious!! I don't remember many occasions when I've loved all three courses of a meal, but that was certainly the case tonight. I can't wait to go back.”
“Couldn’t recommend it more, must visit if you’re passing through the neighborhood like I was. Got a pineapple cream amman (one of the specials) and it was super fresh, with bright flavors and great balance. I also got a Vietnamese coffee which was just as good—rich, sweet, and STRONG. Fabulous!
The service was great too, super nice people and the line moved pretty quick for a busy Sunday morning.”
“Fun night for two out of towners! Food was amazing and the staff were incredibly friendly, even though we’re two or three times their ages and not cool at all! ;)”
Fine Dining
“The minibar experience begins weeks before you step inside, when you manage to secure a coveted spot at one of the two nightly seatings. Each passing day builds anticipation, knowing you're about to embark on something truly special and unique. On the big day, you gather with fellow diners outside the understated entrance. As the door opens, it feels like cashing in a golden ticket to a Willy Wonka-esque affair. The all-white anteroom acts as a physical palette cleanser, separating you from the world outside and setting the stage for a journey of culinary wonder. You and your ten fellow diners (soon to be friends) are welcomed into a space where food becomes theater. To describe any individual dish would spoil the magic, but know that each course--arriving as a meticulously crafted bite or two--showcases extraordinary precision and creativity. The timing and choreography are more akin to poetry and ballet than a typical kitchen. For fans of shows like The Bear or Hell's Kitchen, this is a glimpse of what a professional kitchen can achieve at its best--no panic, no yelling, just chefs focused on elevating food to its highest form. Throughout the evening, a gracious team guides you, making sure you feel genuinely appreciated. The chefs encourage questions about the dishes, their construction, and the inspiration behind them. Even when my curiosity led me to ask question after question, their patience and enthusiasm never waned. Despite the attention to detail, there is no sense of pretentiousness here. The pacing is relaxed, with each course seamlessly following the last. You'll find yourself wondering how each dish could possibly top the previous one, only to be amazed time and again. The team's warmth makes you feel like family rather than just a guest. It's humbling to experience such sincerity and grace. As Chef Andrés has said, his secret is to treat every guest as if it's the only meal they'll have all year. Mission accomplished. If you're fortunate enough to afford it or can save for a special occasion, a night at minibar is worth it. It's an evening of pure pleasure and delight--one you won't soon forget.”
“I am so glad I found out about this place! The only plant-based restaurant in the entire DMV area with a Michelin star. We had the 14-course tasting menu. Happycow only allows 9 photos, so I can't upload the whole meal but I wish I could! The menu has four "acts". It began with prickly pear/tajin candies with edible rice paper wrappers. Then a hot cocoa with rum. Then 5 types of arepas (pictured) with 3 different dips... the cashew sour cream was sublime! That was the opening act. First act included the yuba, celery root, and black bean mole on a crisp (pictured), that has been posted elsewhere as it's on top of a glass box with money in it. Referring as an offering to ancestors. The next course was a delicious soup with fava beans and plantains, the recipe of the executive chef's grandmother. Then a watermelon, carrot, and avocado dish (pictured). I am not usually a watermelon fan but this type was good. Second act included coconut ceviche, a small bite with heart of palm and seaweed and tomato (pictured), and a main dish of roasted beet with wild rice and black truffle (pictured). Also a black bean tamale with trumpet mushroom (pictured, though the mushroom was way too salty - my only complaint of the entire meal). Third act included a melon, parsnip, and basil snack, a dessert with cherry and mochi (pictured, tribute to the DC cherry blossom trees), and a candy made of dulce de leche. We finished with a mango sorbet as it was a special occasion (off-menu). I had the tequila flight (very slowly throughout the meal), which complemented each dish. My partner, who is not a vegan, said it was the best meal she's ever had in the DMV area, ever! We got to talk to the owner/chef. All the servers were very gracious and happy to hear how much we loved the food. Plus, we met celebrity chef Pati Jinich, who was there seated at the table next to us and very kind when we thought we recognized her as someone we knew, but in reality we had seen her on TV! Just a coincidence that she was there. All the dishes are Latin inspired from all different countries in central and south America. Overall an unforgettable experience. Tasting menu was $150 per person when we went in April 2025, plus tax/tip etc. You won't regret going there! Updated from previous review on 2025-04-20”
“Bottom line up front, Cranes is a MUST for DC’s Winter Restaurant Week! From the hostess's accommodation of our late arrival, friendly greeting, and front door coat check to our waiter’s, Elmer, and wait staff’s attentive service throughout our visit, Cranes was superb! The Faux-jito, Squash Hummus, Ramen, and Iberico Pork Fried Rice were fantastic! When there was a problem with our bill, it was quickly resolved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!!!”
“Dining in DC, is paying for ambiance. Pascual was a wonderful ambiance in learning the finer elements of Mexican cuisine.
NO SALSA IN CHIPS
Guacamole was tasty but it wasn't until I built the perfect bite with the braised lamb neck did I appreciate the understatement of its balance. My friend very much enjoyed her Octopus, she got crispy she'll to accompany her dish.
The bunuelo was a nice finish, but there was the option of flan w/chocolate. The flan was good but had bitters from dark chocolate that gave the taste of espresso.
I would not dine here again personally, but it makes for a really nice backdrop of a lovely dinner.
Vegetarian options: Seafood allergy, a lot of possible cross contamination, limits your choices. However the choices are still very delicious.”
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STK Steakhouse - An Exceptional Dining Experience Incredible dining spot perfect for a pre-theater dinner! The venue itself is beautiful, and the food was absolutely delicious - I particularly enjoyed the seabass. What truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service. Special shoutout to Adam and Paige, who made my birthday dinner extra memorable by surprising me with a special dessert and champagne. The timing was perfect, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely meal before catching a play. Highly recommend STK for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience with impeccable service and fantastic cuisine!”
“When I think omakase, I think sushi. Kappo was wagyu omakase, so I didn’t know what to expect exactly. The wagyu was beyond delicious like melt in your mouth delicious. I added the sake pairing and it did not disappoint! The space was intimate with about ten bar seats and three tables of 4. Chef Ogawa was there showing us the cut of wagyu. The course took around 2.5 hours.”
“I had a fantastic experience at SHŌTŌ Washington DC. The atmosphere was vibrant, with great music that added to the upscale yet inviting ambiance. The food was exceptional… beautifully presented and packed with flavor. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Definitely a place worth visiting for a great night out!”
“Elegant setting. Beautiful decor. Stellar service. Innovative and delectable cuisine. Bonus points for mocktail options.”

“5 stars isn't enough!! From the moment we walked in until the end of our night we were satisfied. The decorations, food, and service was amazing! They even offered me a quiet place to pray :). Give this place a try-trust me (portions may seem small, but it was very filling- we ordered the bowl of fries, which came with a delicious sauce, CROQUETTES, fish burger, beef burger, and gnocchi pomodoro. It felt like we were in nyc enjoy :)”
“Many people have described this place as the best pizza in DC. While it is good and definitely has that classic NYC style, it was not five star pizza. I got the Classic Pepperoni signature pizza with burrata and hot honey - very tasty.
I got it for takeout which may have also contributed to quality of the pie. A really nice touch was that they put the buratta and hot honey on the side, which kept the pizza crispier while I brought it home.
I hope to try a fresh slice at the restaurant someday soon. They have lots of selection between their own creations and the classics. If you are in DC and craving pizza, give them a try!
Parking: Parking here is difficult”
“I ordered a meat combo with some veggie dishes on the side. When I say I was impressed, that’s a serious understatement. This was easily some of the best food I’ve had in a very long time. It was spiced perfectly and I was able to taste the zing without burning my mouth off. The service was incredible: the workers kind, friendly, and provided a relaxed atmosphere that allowed me to feel at home. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better introduction to Ethiopian food.”
“This beat some of the NY style slices I had even in New York. Just the perfect ratio of crust to sauce to toppings. Perfectly sized pepperoni cups. A gorgeous toasty feeling to the freshly heated slice. Started with 3 slices between 2 people and essentially ended up eating a whole pie. Staff are amazing, so warm and friendly. Great brews on tap and a few salads and sides on the menu to go with the pies. Can’t wait to come back”
“This was my first time trying their cookie. I was told by someone that they were too sweet. I tried their oatmeal cookie with raisin and it was delicious. One of the best cookies I've ever had. It was not too sweet at all. Full of flavor , crispy on the outside and chewie on the inside. Unfortunately I didn't get to try other flavors so I can't comment on them but I look forward next time I get a chance.”
“Just an all-around wonderful experience, I was able to pull right up sit down with my lovely puppy outside and enjoy one of the best brunches I’ve had in the long time”
“my 11 yo daughter went here for a business trip with her grandma and they went here for brunch. she ordered a brunch burger and said it was the best burger of her life. it was so good that she had to call them all the way from IL to ask how they made it!!”
“Food was absolutely amazing and our waiter- Tyren was even more amazing! He made our visit top notch! If I could give all the stars for him!!”

“Truly fantastic food and a first rate professional staff. Always a pleasure to dine at La Bise. Amazing service, very interesting and upscale interior, and a great meal, what else could you ask for?”
“Amazing dishes. Chive cakes, marigold, Laos wine, the butterfly and hummingbird were delicious. The presentation on the pla tong ma was almost as good as the flavor. Aim helped us choose our dishes and provided excellent service.”
“Loved it! West Indian Cuisine elevated and just as good as Tantie could make it 😀”

“We had the best time at KooKoo DC last night. They accommodated a table of 14 for my spouse's birthday and never let us feel like an imposition. The food was so fresh, authentic, and reasonably priced - I did a double take when we got the bill. I even felt like we went all-out with apps, drinks, and desserts! The owner was also so kind - we just felt so cared for the whole time and can't wait to visit again.”
“Maya and her whole team were absolutely amazing
Food quality fish with amazing arrive made it one of the best seafood experiences for us that we’ve ever had”
“We're staying in the area for work, and we stopped here for dinner. All I can say is that the coconut soup is the best you'll ever try. It's absolutely amazing. The rest of our food was good as well, but that stood out as the best I've ever had in my entire life. I may come back again just for that.”

“The food at Ceibo is creative and delicious. We enjoyed eveything, sharing the hamachi, eggplant, dumplings and sea bass. The dumplings are unusual, served in a delicious broth. The emulsion served with the sea bass was amazing. The wine list is reasonable and includes great choices by the glass. The service is friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The dining room is attractive, but because of the tile floor, once full it is a little loud, but not to the extent that you'll have difficulty hearing your dinner companion across the table. Dinner at Ceibo is a lovely way to spend an evening.”
“Quite distinctly one of the best Indian restaurants in the downtown DC area. Each item that we ordered was not only delicious and well balanced, but also nicely presented on the plate and served by very knowledgeable servers.”
“wonderful small family owned Thai restaurant in Washington DC. the food is excellent and the service is great.”
“Friendly, quaint and delicious food. Great service. What more do you need”

“Tasty lunch special! First time here, first time Onomichi Ramen, and looking forward to next meal! Love the music~
P.S. To be the first group enjoying the meal, please arrive 30 minutes early! Arrived 13 minutes early and did not make the first group…”
“This is probably the best pasta I’ve had in DC. I’ve been here twice for dinner now, and the pastas were all great. We got a few smaller portions - the alla norma, taglioni, rigatoni, and agnolotti - all were good. We also tried the sfincione [we are both Sicilian], which was OK but not really a sfincione. Good wine selection and great espresso martinis too. Will return.”
“Restaurant Review: Le Sel French Bistro Le Sel French Bistro near Logan Circle delivers a delightful mix of classic French cuisine with modern flair in a cozy, chic setting. The Escargots were indulgent, with garlic Pernod butter enhancing their tender richness, while the Onion Soup transported me to Paris with its flavorful broth and golden, cheesy crust. The Steak au Poivre & Frites was a standout, perfectly cooked with bold black pepper jus, creamy Béarnaise, and crispy frites. Each dish balances tradition and creativity, making for a memorable dining experience. For an authentic taste of France in DC, Le Sel is a must-visit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #LeSelFrenchBistro #FrenchCuisine #LoganCircleEats #DCFoodies #FineDining #FoodieFavorites”

Highly recommend STK for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience with impeccable service and fantastic cuisine!”
“Great food in a great location in Georgetown. Parking right down the street.”
“Restaurant Week lunch menu was excellent. Good variety and enough choices for the 3 course menu. Can’t go wrong with any options. Excellent service. Bar area is nice-wish the dining room decor was as interesting as the food. (Maybe that’s the point—the foods the thing!)”
“very tasty Ethiopian dishes and very good atmosphere also excellent services!!!!”
“Ambar's newest location does not disappoint. If you know Ambar, it goes without saying the food is amazing. new offerings on the menu gave me some new favorites to add to my already long list. New cocktails for a new address, yes and thank you! The design esthetic is light and refreshing...And the 2nd floor ceiling is an instagram dream. Easily 5 stars.”
“Came for a tasting as part of Tasting Collective and was glad I did. This was truly a great experience. The 5 course tasting had 2 courses (1st & 4th) that needed to be altered as I'm a pescetarian therefore, don't eat duck. So in place of the duck paté, I was served figs and brie and in place of the duck breast I was served branzino. Each course was nicely paired with wine, again adding to this wonderful experience.
The fig and brie with the croutons was delicious, followed by the roasted pear with gouda, pecans and pomegranate sprinkles which was a delightful tasty plate. Who would think white chocolate and cauliflower purée would be delicious and pair beautifully with seared scallops? Clearly Chef Moore did and how right was he. That purée had folks at our table scraping to get all of it. The next course was a substitute dish and was beyond disappointing, especially compared to the other 3 courses. The branzino was BLAND, but the olives that were on the side were extra salty. I thought I was supposed to eat them together, but that didn't help. I couldn't even eat this course. The final course was a butterscotch pudding, a great way to end the meal/night.
Chef Moore was very welcoming. He answered questions and took pictures with the guests.
I'll definitely add this to my list of restaurants.”
“I know I take terrible pictures but this DC restaurant lived up to the hype…excellent food and drinks, delivered hot and timely and the wait staff was on point. I have to thank my Facebook group and work friends for the recommendation….bonus points, it’s 6 blocks down the street.”
“Went to Kitchen +Kocktails for the first time last night. The decor was very nice, and the music was good and not obnoxious. Our server Ally was terrific! I’m not a drinker, so when I asked her if there were any cocktails that didn’t taste like alcohol, I thought she would look at me like I was crazy, but she didn’t! She seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and immediately had a couple of suggestions. I went with the mixed berry lemon drop and it was perfect for me. The crab cake appetizers and shrimp and grits with lobster tail entree were amazing. We had a great time and we’ll be back!”
“This was some of the best food I’ve ever had. I would never normally choose Italian as a n “”out to eat” option but I’m so glad I did! I would eat here night after night if I could.”
“I went for brunch, which is only open on weekends. I wanted to try the other branch in The Wharf, but this branch had just opened, so I came here. I ordered a menu that recreated Paris Brest like a bagel and wine. The menu idea was unique and the taste wasn't that great, but the plating was pretty and I had a satisfying meal, so I think I'll go again. However, the price is a bit on the high side, but I think it's worth the price because the interior and atmosphere are beautiful!”
“The service here was amazing 🙏
Probably the best Hamachi Kama we’ve ever had, and we get it every time we try a new sushi restaurant. Everything was fresh and high quality. Would highly recommend.”
“Had a great Saturday night before a holiday party. Service at the bar was excellent. Four starts because the menu could use a few more vegetable options. Smoked fish dip was too creamy and that drowned the taste of the dish in the dip. Oysters were insanely good.
That said, cocktails and the bartender were excellent. Beautiful decor too.”
“Had a great experience. I would definitely come back next time we are in DC.”
“Minibar went above and beyond our expectations. Due to health issues, we cannot drink alcohol and they curated special nonalcoholic drinks that paired perfectly with the exceptionally creative food!”
Updated from previous review on 2025-04-20”
“First visit; I went for Restaurant Week.
“Absolutely the best Italian food I have ever tasted! Exceptional service! Old world Italian charm! Very romantic Valentine's day themed decor and ambiance.”
“This resturaunt was amazing! The service was absolutely the best, the food was sooooo delicious and flavorful and the ambiance was great. Definitely will be going there again.”
“We had never tried Afghani food before, and I am so glad we did. The staff was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They recommended the Mini Taste of Arocostia for our first time. Everything was FANTASTIC!!! The food was cooked perfectly. The service was great! We never had to ask to have our beverages filled up, because they were already on top of it before we had to ask. They packed all our leftovers into boxes for us for our way home. We will definitely be going back!”
“Great people, great service, great food! I've been on a mission to find Eggs Benny done right - thank you! For the breakfast, and for being an awesome part of the adventure. 😊”
“❤️ Oku. hits everytime. every 🍾 celebration we (my fam) head straightforward there.”
“Visited the café today! Loved the delectable and creative menu, the warm service, and the beautiful, cozy interior. We enjoyed the inasal, tocino, and ube latte (complete with delicate latte art) courtesy of Sun and Stars Coffee. Our kid was thrilled she could enjoy an ube steamer, too-- and didn't want to stir her drink because she found the art (Hiraya's logo in this instance) so beautiful. If you want reimagined, creative, and elevated Filipino cuisine where the flavors simultaneously bring back sensory memories of the comfort food of your childhood, this is the place for you. Can't wait to return!”
“This is reminiscent of my GMU years when I used to frequent my favorite Indian restaurant on Old Town Fairfax. I liked the food, decoration and the service.
Recommendations/what I had: Curry (Goat), garlic breads and mango lassi.”
“Go here please
The staff are spectacular, kind and efficient. The food is wonderful and the vibes are so good people would frequently pop in just to dance for a minute and leave.
The two of us shared the deluxe combo, got extra injera, and finished with a tiramisu. Overall everything came out perfect and the staff basically read our minds on bringing out more. Seriously it couldnt have been a more comforting meal.”
“Food was very delicious and authentic Thai. The staff were really kind and the atmosphere is nice. Santiago C. is an amazing server!! I would 100% recommend this to my friends!”
“Nous avons passé une superbe soirée au Convivial. Merci à toute l’équipe et tout particulièrement au jeune serveur très gentil fan de dimitri Payet ainsi et surtout au chef toulonnais qui a régalé nos papilles en côtoyant l’excellence avec son poisson au pistou et les côtes d’agneau. Une petite famille du sud de la France, allez l’OM et le RC Toulon 😉.”
“Excellent food. Definitely a bit misleading with the Google photos that give the impression it’s more upscale, however this is definitely just a chill come as you are, standard neighborhood spot (and that’s fine!)”
“First I would like to say that I wish there were more than 5 stars. My son and I are visiting the DC area for the Cherry Blossom festivities. My son has a love for Indian food ever since his trip to India. I have never tried Indian food ever. So this was my very first experience. From the moment we walked in the door our amazing experience began. The atmosphere is beautiful and so is the staff. Our server, April was super helpful and very knowledgeable. She has an amazing spirit and is wonderful with her job! The food... was very fresh, aromatic and DELICIOUS!! My son said the food was the closest to the food in India that he has had here in the states. For my first time... OMG!!! I am HOOKED! The only bad part is that I have to go back to Florida and wait impatiently for my next visit.”
“First and foremost, be prepared to spend money if you come here. My bill was nearly $90 for just me. But, I had the best fried pickles I've ever had, a delicious chicken cordon blue grilled cheese sandwich, and many different craft brews which were all fantastic. The fruit beer in my pic is one of the best beers I've ever had. I love the self-pour, self-order system, but it's just pricey. Still, the whole experience was 5 stars for me!”
“You know you’re going to have good food when the servers get excited about your menu decisions. Everything was absolutely wonderful. We got to sit at the bar with a direct view of the kitchen. I don’t know if the octopus or the truffle dumpling was my favorite, but I know I’m getting both when I go back. The whole fried snapper had a delicious light breading. The duck noodles were tasty too; I will probably try to get it spicier next time. I’ll likely be back in a couple of weeks. I’m still thinking about the food. Also, this husband-wife team perfected my experience by ensuring such excellent service. They need to teach a workshop to other restauranteurs.”
“Absolutely amazing food, atmosphere, and service! My new favorite restaurant in DC. Food is tasty and authentic. Staff is friendly, responsive, and timely. And the restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and spacious with plenty of seating inside and out. The Adana Lebab, Turkish tea, and Backlava are must-tries. A+++”
“Such a great experience! We chose the tapas experience and lemme tell you, it got us so full! Didn’t have a chance to try the cocktails but the mocktails were great. The presentation of the food and drinks were spectacular. The aesthetic of the restaurant was warm.
Can’t wait to be back!”

“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!”
“I visited this place awhile ago and there is something very special about this place. i had catfish with fries and it was very fresh and not greasy at all. I had a brief conversation with owner and i was told they used very high level oil to fry the food. They definitely care about the quality of the food more than anything. I will definitely visit this place again.”

“Haley was absolutely fabulous. Her personality was so pleasant and she was extremely professional. She checked on us just the right amount of times and was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, even though she was relatively new. She's a true keeper. Oh yes, the food was out of this world. I know we'll be back and I've recommended it to my friends that either live in K of P or who I know visit there. it was just a lovely experience Laurie Edson”
“Our server Devin was AMAZING AND TRULY A GEM! Stuart the manager was also AMAZING AND SO INVITING. I watched everyone around me and every employee including managers were helping each other. I’ve been around the world and ate at a lot of Hard Rocks while in the Navy from Bahrain, to Singapore to Hawaii, Foxwoods Connecticut,Las Vegas, and even more and this was an AMAZING EXPERINCE! This is one of the BEST Hard Rock Cafes if not the best!”
“We supported Chef Edward Lee on the Culinary War show, so we decided to try his restaurant since he curated the menu. The decor is a bit outdated, and I think it could use a refresh. The service was outstanding, and the food was good, though I wouldn't describe it as exceptional. We ordered the Taste the South. We might return if we're nearby, but we probably won't make a special trip for it.”
“Visited Philippe's this past Saturday night and was immediately greeted with such warmth. Andrea made my old fashion to perfection and she was willing to help with anything we needed. We didn't want much to eat so we just got the calamari 9/10, the veggie lettuce wrap 9/10 and the beef lettuce wrap 10/10. When Andrea left for the night, Ponce picked up right where she left off and took great care of us. We later sparked a conversation of the manager George and Sadi, who were both very welcoming. I look forward to more late nights, happy hours and dinners with the girls here at Philippe's at the Wharf!”

“we went to the Vegas location and how Gordon Ramsay can put his name to the crap this place serves up is beyond belief. the batter is way to thick and over cooked and the highlight should not be the Dijon mayonnaise that comes with the food. terrible food and a waste of $39”

“My girlfriend and i dined and the service and the food were amazing, Hicham made sure that we enjoyed our bottle of wine. Our courses were perfectly timing. Honestly I will be back at least ones a week just to get the same experience with Hicham and music. Thank you pink Tiger for creating a beautiful late place for residents arround you.”
“Enjoyed a nice late lunch on a chilly April day in DC. At 3pm on a Saturday, the place was busy but there were a few open tables. The ramen with tofu and peanut noodles both hit the spot, and we'd happily order these again in the future. The date tahini smoothie was excellent, though a bit pricey. Order at the counter and they bring drinks and food to you. All of the employees we interacted with were nice. Look forward to coming again. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-12”
“Pretty new place, ambiance seems a little forced but hear good things about the secret bar in the back. Only had the tacos Al Pastor/ they were ready very quick, flavor was ok. Very skimpy on the cilantro. The sauce, some type is aioli was non traditional but ok- the texture the sauce added wasn’t great. Very oniony - didn’t taste any pineapple. Reasonable for the price.”
“Great waiter- delicious food, unique and cooked perfect! Music and vibes were very very fun!!!”
