“When indecisive, go for the chefs table which includes all of the apps but also an extra tasting per course. Aside from the food which was near perfect, the ambiance is very unique outside dining in a semi enclosed courtyard, railyard bar, and dining in a lodge-like room with fireplace. Some of my favorite dishes were the veggies, surprising because I'm more of a meat eater. Cocktails were excellent but do ask the bartender since not all liquor is documented. Wine list is extensive“
“Had dinner before the Oh He Dead concert on Saturday December 17, 2022. We arrived a little before our seating and immediately were greeted and taken to our spots. Ian was outstanding! He was attentive, descriptive and helped create a good experience. Dan, our bartender, was magnificent. He created delectable cocktails and we also chatted along the way (we had bar seats which I highly recommend). This was very reasonably priced, we left very filled and happy. I want to give the highest possible compliments to Ian and Dan. The entire experience was perfect, largely because of the great food, but they took the experience well beyond a 1 star evening!“
“Eclectic mixture of offerings.Ukrainian borscht is true to what I remember from childhood. Halibut with coconut sauce is brilliant. Steak medallions complement a very Ukranian potato and are of highest quality. The owner, Olena is amazing and sweet.“
“Friendly and knowledgeable staff, in a unique atmosphere. Residents has a chill vibe and a Menu that changes with the seasons. Love the small bites. Highly recommend the baby artichokes on the Summer menu! Visited in Summer and Fall of 2022… Residents never disappoints! Highly recommend.“
“My wife recommended this establishment having had several business luncheons here. It did not disappoint. The waiter was as accommodating as you could ever hope for . The seating options varied as we chose a booth for our visit. The cocktails were as good as anywhere we've ben, and the meals selected were top drawer and prompt. Parking, as you might expect was typical D.C. We found a spot easily within walking distance. Definitely will visit again when in downtown Washington.“
“The food was fantastic! The service was fantasticOverall a fantastic experience. We had a awesome time dining with Rose's the staff was very nice and very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. We also received various items that we off the menu that were excellent. And they gave us a treat to take home. I would definitely recommend Roses, P&P, and Little Pearl. Trust me, they won't let you down.“
“Tashawn made my friend and I’s experience 10Xs better than it already was. He was attentive, charming, and funny! Not only were the lemon ricotta pancakes and truffle fries amazing, the overall experience was as well! Def recommend The Pembroke for brunch ???“
“Me and my husband came to the bar for a la carte dining, had an amazing time with a very personalized beverage pairing (s/o to Chris our bartender!) We'll DEFINITELY be back to do the entire tasting menu. Lovely atmosphere, not stuffy, great music, GOOD LIGHTING (hard to come by in DC) and overall stellar food. Come here for your next date night or special occasion dinner, you won't regret it!“
“The menu and wine list has changed since our last time dining at BlackSalt. Actually had to return a bottle of French wine that was undrinkable/bitter.Fortunately, the wine server suggested a much better California wine that went well with the entrees. The food was great, as we expected.“
“Amazing service, food, presentation, libations, decor, comfort, on and on. From 1st picture my welcome cocktail all the way to final cocktail and wine in between 2nd picture to 1st course caviar bigger purse with no silverware 3rd picture to 2nd to last course truffle ice cream with all the toppings, including caviar My words don’t do this dining event Justice. Oh, and when I got back to the hotel, I found an incredible burger in a box that I carried back to the hotel without opening. That was breakfast! Will be back.“
“As a somewhat regular at the Tombs and having dined at a few of the many Clyde's Restaurants, I can honestly say that my expectations were nowhere near as high as to the level of quality that my friends and I enjoyed tonight at the 1789. In a word it was simply "AMAZING". The service was flawless, there were there when we needed them and mysteriously disappeared when we were set. Sometimes in fine dining the service staff can be hovering over us like Seagulls on the prowl at the Jersey Shore. We took our time to consume three courses and an enjoy a few libations. The dining room is intimate and inviting the fireplace was lit aglow, warm and comforting to sit by. The menu is adventurous but not contrived or so esoteric that we needed to google explanations so that we might navigate our choices. Presentations were elegant and simple with the emphasis on execution. Unlike so many trendy new places around DC seem to be awash in multiple concoctions that involve far too many syllables. The flavors were on point and the kitchen showed a prowess that must only come as a notice that it's all about the taste, the freshness and the seasonality that we find ourselves in. The New Bedford Seared Sea Scallops were delicious, plump and sweet. And the accompanying sauce just perfectly paired with the Scallops. The Escargot garlicky and salty. The only ever so slight misstep was with the Grilled Octopus, a wee tad rubbery possibly didn't poach long or slow enough to tenderize the tentacles before they were finished on the Grill. Our Entrees were all eagerly passed around the table and there was unanimous agreement that all four were perfect. We sampled the Lamb, the Halibut, Duck and the Wagu Short-ribs, whose taste and tenderness took me back to a similar experience 30 years ago at a small French Cafe in Newport. In my Humble opinion this entire experience was undoubtedly the finest meal I've ever been served in our Nations Capital. Reservations are almost always a must but trust me it is indeed worth the wait. Everyone got dessert because we were all part of the Clean Plate Club. Of particular note was the 1789 Pastry Chef's interpretation of Classic Carrot Cake. Reservations are highly recommended and be assured that you will leave with a delicious taste in your mouth and an overwhelming urge to plan your return to the "1789".“
“5 out of 5 stars, this three story restaurant is interestingly unnoticeable but I’m glad I was invited here to experience it. It sits next to an open air lot which is definitely needed on H St. The food was amazing, I had the sea bass, plantains, salad, and cassava fries (can’t remember what they were called) and everything was so good. The staff was efficient and friendly and the chef came out to speak with us and it amazing to see that he’s native DC and young he is. I definitely recommend this place for dinner. I wish I paused to take pictures but maybe next time.“
“The food was amazing, the service was amazing, the drinks were amazing. We did the 3 course dinning option and it was worth every penny. I will def be back to try more food options and enjoy the balcony when the weather is warmer. The space is very mature and sexy.“
“Wonderful place, best falafel ever. I hope they read this because I would suggest they describe the bread it is on in more detail. They apologized for not having traditional pita bread for it. Instead the should say they have put a new spin on it using their own homemade ??? bread. I don't know what type it is, but it was absolutely delicious!“
“EJ was incredibly nice and helpful, all the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Dan was exceptionally polite and crafted excellent drinks. Despite our large group, we were served in a timely manner and with great attention, had an amazing night!“
“From perfect candle lit lighting, pleasant staff, exceptional mixologists, and unique plate settings.. wow! Love the food, love the orange wine selection. Brussel sprouts plus the sauce, oh my god. Need that recipe, chef! Enjoy the pic. Cannot wait to come back to try the chicken.“
“My partner and I walked in at 6:30 PM on a busy Friday night without a reservation (I didn’t realize they had started taking reservations!) The host said the only options were bar seating or outdoor seating under heat lamps. We didn’t really want either of those options, but understood that since we didn’t have a reservation, we could not be very choosy. The host then kept looking at his reservation app and offered us a very nice table as long as we could be finished by 8:30 PM. We said that two hours is plenty of time! He said he felt bad that there wasn’t room for us but we assured him this was perfect and we would definitely be finished by the time he needed the table back. He was so kind and accomodating. The rest of the staff was also excellent (as always!) and the food was outstanding. I have always loved Purple Patch and will certainly return soon. Thank you PP team for being awesome!“
“What an incredible collection of brown- 65+ pages of incredible whiskeys, bourbons and more. Multiple bottles of pappy if you're into that. I had a blast selecting (at random, but nothing disappointed!) and my friend got the flight to help guide him, which he loved.Food was fine, acceptable, but for the cool environment I would have figured higher grade in the cuisine. Admittedly the snacks/small plates were far higher quality than the main dishes so maybe the intention was to drink and small plate.Service was good, they made sure we had what we needed but I would have loved a bit more enthusiasm for such an amazing collection.Overall great experience and would go again!“
“I had my birthday breakfast at The Greenhouse in DC. I ordered the Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes. ? These were fluffy, not too sweet, not too 'chocolately', and the banana on the top was glazed with crystalized sugar ..mmm.. Just right for me. The staff was friendly, too. Overall a pleasant experience. ??Kid-friendliness: I saw a few tables with families/grandparents and children sitting together.“
“Loved dining at Nina May’s for Easter Brunch! Made the reservation quite last minute but we were still able to snag a table for two at one of D.C’s best restaurants! We were also late on our res. due to easter traffic and finding parking around the place but the host was very accommodating and nice. We got the chef’s choice and everything was amazing! Super fresh and the flavors all worked really well together. I also got the cucumber mocktail which was really good! Our server was attentive and really went the extra mile to fix a small mishap (we got to try the amazing carrot cake, on the house!!! it was splendid!!!!). Will definitely be back since they have a seasonal menuParking: Parking is quite limited as most of the streets surrounding this restaurant are restricted/limited to zone/permit holders which seems to be a theme in D.C. Be aware and plan to arrive 15-20 minutes earlier so you have time to look without getting late. Though a host did mention there is a grocery store nearby that you could park at though!“
“Buzzy place, quite busy for Sunday brunch. The cronut was fresh and delicious. The gravlax mezze plate was unusual which is why I ordered it. The food was good. But the music blasting spoiled the experience for me - and I was solo so wasn't trying to chat, which would have been impossible to hear anything!“
“Shilling is probably the most underrated restaurant in DC.Every single item I’ve ever gotten from them has been phenomenal, I’ve yet to have a bad dish. The service feels like you’re part of the family there, where you constantly have a team checking in on you.I cannot recommend this place enough, it beats out several Michelin star restaurants in DC in terms of food and quality, not to mention their cocktails are some of the best in the area.“
“My husband made a reservation for my birthday dinner and the food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. Our server Francisco was top notched and very professional in detailing the menu and offering suggestions on drinks and food. A must go to when in DC, you won’t be disappointed.“
“This place was good, we ordered the lobster deviled eggs, fish and chips, mussels, and lobster roll. The lobster roll was good, I would have liked it to be meatier. The lobster deviled eggs were great! The mussels were okay…the flavor was good but some of the mussels were chewy and dry.The service and the location were great! I can’t believe I didn’t take more pics of my food!“
“Eubin took excellent care of my husband and I on our visit to barmini. It was our first visit (of many more to come) and every single cocktail was mind blowing. I had originally booked a flight, only to have to change it to a la carte in order to make dinner reservations. I wish we had cancelled dinner and stayed at barmini! I cannot find enough positive words to describe this experience. Worth every single cent and more. A must visit! We will be back! (And sit at the bar. The show of every cocktail being prepared truly adds to the experience!) the cake for my birthday was a spectacular gesture as well!“
“Went for dinner after visiting Smithsonians. Had an excellent meal with family. Some had breakfast, and others had burgers. Everyone said their selected meals were excellent.Pics are from baseball game at nationals Park, which was across the diner. A game was being played.“
“My husband and I visit last week while we were in DC for our two year anniversary. We decided to celebrate our actual wedding date by going to The Dabney. Our first michelin star restaurant experience set the bar high. From the start, the team was quick to answer our questions and was open to having us bring in a stroller since we had a newborn with us.Our server Ryan was absolutely exceptional and phenomenal. He did all he could to make the night special for us. All of the staff shared personal stories and tidbits of information throughout the night.Everything was meticulously crafted, plated, and presented to us with pride, joy, and love. The tiniest details made the largest impact on creating an overall completeness to each dish.It was breathtaking, palate pleasing, borderline overfilling, and will be a lasting memory and true highlight of our trip.If you are debating visiting this location, do it. Book that reservation. Try something new. Create a memory. And spread the word. A place like this deserves to be experienced.“
“Absolutely delicious cocktails and the seasonal drinks were so fun to try out! The tater tots were a tasty snack and would definitely recommend. What impressed me most was the customer service from the time we entered til we left - had a small hiccup with our reservation and the staff did everything they could to go above and beyond to make it right and I really appreciated their efforts. We had such a great time and can't wait to be back!“
“Today, we were incredibly fortunate to visit a unique restaurant, Monocle, located on Capitol Hill. We initially chose it due to its proximity to our hotel, but it turned out to be a true "Washingtonian gem." Opened in 1960, this restaurant has been operated by the same family ever since. The menu is concise, which we believe highlights the culinary excellence presented in merely five dishes. We were in search of "authentic American steaks from real American beef from real American cows." What we received far exceeded our expectations. Both steaks we ordered were exquisitely prepared to perfection. We both agreed that these were the best steaks we've ever had the pleasure of eating in our lives. #MasterpieceAs if the meal itself wasn't enough, our server, Marinos Apostolopoulos, provided us with a genuine journey through the history of this establishment. We are deeply grateful!Given its location near the Capitol, the restaurant has been visited by at least half of American politicians over the last 60 years, including Presidents Nixon, Kennedy, Bush, and Clinton. Celebrities like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, among other incredible individuals, have also frequented this place. The number of VIPs and their dedications displayed in their own photos hanging on every wall is truly astonishing. One of the servers celebrated his 50th work anniversary here two months ago with a surprise party for 250 people, an event that was featured on the front page of the Washington Post, which we had the opportunity to read. The place is beautiful, with incredibly friendly service and excellent food. The wonderful experiences we had will stay with us forever. It's worth traveling for moments like these. We highly recommend it and would love to return someday.“
“Dear Diary - What an amazing place! The food menu, extremely helpful members, and drinks were absolutely wonderful in making the experience great. Since I have a few food allergies, they were able to accommodate and make substitutions. I definitely recommend going here. I can't wait until their menu rotates to go again!“
“Came here for dinner with my wife. It was better than I expected. I like the variety of cuisine options. We ate the Filipino fried chicken. It was delicious, three meaty pieces. However, you may still be hungry, so may want some sides. The belgian fries with garlic aioli and truffle were nice and crispy. My wife had the Madam VP heritage bowl. That was great too. Definitely recommend and want to come back.“
“This is a total K-Street lobbyist bar with nice drinks at insane prices. The room is dark and swanky with great artwork of politicians from both sides of the aisle, upscale bar snacks come with your table, and you’ll pay $35 for an ounce of Woodford - but you may spot a member of Congress, too. This is a spot frequented by corporate accounts and special-interest types, but it’s a cool, old-school DC room and perfectly executed.“
“The food was tasty and the only issue we had was that the server was not knowledgeable on brunch and their pricing. However, there was a glass broken and the person who cleaned it up was friendly and quick about it, due to our mistake. Food pricing is okay, if you’re drinking bottomless, the pitchers of mimosas are mixed (mango, orange, strawberry). The restaurant is kid friendly, parking is hard to find.“
“My wife and I went here for a first date anniversary recently, and it was fantastic! We've been to several Michelin star restaurants around the world, and this was one of the best. The food was just amazing course after another amazing course. The level of innovation and flavor was just off the charts. The service was also impeccable, with super friendly chefs and staff. The interactive experience is something truly memorable. Special shout-out to Sean, who was super helpful to me when I was trying to figure out which cocktails to order!“
“Cute spot located very close to union station. Came in for dinner on a week night and the place was decently busy. The server was kind and attentive. For food, I had the lamb shawarma which was very tasty and actually the perfect amount of food, although the pita bread that came with was pretty dry. My friend got the lamb sliders which also looked pretty good!“
“A friend of mine took us here for a late dinner lastmonth since they told us it was great. They weren’t wrong, our experience was great! We came at around 8 PM on a Friday and they were a little busy but we got a table. Our server was super friendly. We started with the calamari as an appetizer which was tasty! As my entree, I got the Margarita Flatbread. Overall it was good! The toppings were tasty and it was cooked perfectly.Overall, if you’re in the Foggy Bottom area of DC, Circa is a good spot! I’ll be back.“
“Had dinner on a Saturday night - party of 4. A plus service and food. The service was very attentive and knowledgeable. Very helpful in wine selections within certain price points (and the recommendations were fantastic). But the FOOD!!! there was a special lobster appetizer that was phenomenal. For the regular menu the little gem salad was large and refreshing. I had the root vegetable soup and it was also great. For mains we had the tuna, pasta and steak. There wasn't a bad choice in the bunch. Highly recommend this for an elegant night out. All in we were at 150 per person (and that was with plenty of wine). The price was a bargain for the experience. GO!!!“
“As a Texan visiting Succotash in DC, I was pleasantly surprised by the Southern charm infused into every aspect of the dining experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance transported me back to my hometown with its rustic decor and welcoming atmosphere. The menu offered a delightful array of Southern classics with a modern twist, showcasing the chef's creativity while staying true to traditional flavors. I couldn't resist starting with the fried green tomatoes, a staple back home, and they did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside, tangy and flavorful on the inside – just like Mama used to make. For my main course, I opted for the shrimp and grits, a dish I consider a true test of Southern authenticity. Succotash passed with flying colors. The shrimp were plump and succulent, perfectly complemented by the creamy grits and smoky bacon. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that reminded me of lazy Sunday mornings on the porch back in Texas. To top it all off, I indulged in a slice of pecan pie that rivaled any I've had before. The buttery crust, the rich filling, and the crunchy pecans combined to create a dessert worthy of a Southern grandmother's approval.Overall, my experience at Succotash was nothing short of fantastic. The food, the atmosphere, and the service all exceeded my expectations, making me feel right at home despite being miles away from the Lone Star State. If you're craving authentic Southern cuisine in the heart of DC, look no further than Succotash. Y'all won't be disappointed.“
“I love this neighborhood gem or a bar/restaurant. Great vibes and elevated food. My only suggestion is to take the Triple H sandwich off the menu. There's no honey flavoring and for a person that loves Nashville Hot Chicken this was incredibly hot to the point of being nauseating. Unless there's some insane hot chicken eating contest this is not for regular human consumption.“
“My wife and I recently had an amazing experience at Jônt. The whole thing, from the counter seating and loud music, to the phenomenal staff I 10/10 recommend. The food was unique and so fun to try. Every bite may not be a hit for everyone, but like i said it’s fun to try.“
“Excellent. Go ahead and ask the bar manager about the incredibly curated bar and wine selection - much of it local. Excellent bites, esp the ceviche. Make this place your local ?Kid-friendliness: Have supported neighborhood schools including Ludlow. Explicitly welcoming parents and kiddos to come right after school.“
“If I could give this place 100/5 I would. Went for a drink, stayed for 3 hours. Luke is the best bartender both in the drinks he makes but also helping find the right cocktail for your mood. Even gave us a few small samples of the drinks on tap to try beforehand.GET THE RHUBARB SODA it might change your life. Most of the people at the bar with us were locals and regulars. Very cute decor as well.Small spot so limited seating. If you want to go for dinner recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.If I lived here I’d have my name engraved on a stool.“
“I was impressed to say the least with the food. It was amazing!!!! You have to go try it out. The music was on point and the atmosphere feels kind of like a club in Miami. The music is loud just so you know. I thoroughly enjoyed it myself though. I wouldn’t have changed anything.“
“My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......“
“I had my husband's 60th birthday here, and it was fantastic from Lauren helping me plan the event, to the wait staff, the bartender, and the beautiful fireplace room - every detail was awesome!! If you are vegan, you definitely want to come for the vegan tasting menu!!“
“Great small jazz venue. Ok to go in solo. Better if you go with a significant other or group. The jazz was amazing. The acoustics are exceptional in the space. The Big Bass player did his thing last night. Service for a jazz club was fast with food and drinks. The flavors were on point.“
“The food was amazing especially at the price point and I went back twice on Super Bowl Sunday -- which was also my first time ordering from here. I ordered the OG Nashville Hot and the Honey Butter sandwich. Both would absolutely out of this world. The chicken is fresh and not too heavily breaded but crispy and warm and the spice is fantastic. Could absolutely eat it daily.“
“Yes! I love the concept. I love how it’s a hand made patty and the burger was cooked perfectly. In addition, you have an option to add items to your burger if you do the build your burger option. You can also choose their preselected choices which look really good. I chose to add sautéed onions, bacon, and Italian sausage. I will say although the Italian sausage was good, I wouldn’t add it again; it didn’t hurt the burger overall. You choose your seasoning (I chose basic), sauce (house bbq), lettuce and tomato. I also ordered the seasoned fries (garlic parmesan). I was curious so I asked for the spicy ranch. It was pretty good.“
“This is great for a quick lunch or dinner. There is good variety and great flavors. We were a party of 5 and all ordered different variations. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. This is elevated grilled cheese for adults but lets the kids order something simple. Win win.“
“Unconventional dinner has amazing food and such a wide variety to choose from. One of my favourite ones is their chicken and waffles. However this is not your regular chicken and waffles. They are corn bread chicken and waffles, with a sweet and spicy sauce. But that’s not all, their salads are amazing also. Great ambiance, and amicable staff.“
