We opted to sit outside but the noise from U street traffic really dampened the atmosphere. They thankfully let us move inside. You order through a QR code or at the bar. We both got their limonadas which were great. And then got their fries to share and I got the masa gnocchi - all delicious! I would definitely go back to try more.“

And fun bonus: they had some Elvis Presley songs in the background that day.

“My partner and I walked in at 6:30 PM on a busy Friday night without a reservation (I didn’t realize they had started taking reservations!) The host said the only options were bar seating or outdoor seating under heat lamps. We didn’t really want either of those options, but understood that since we didn’t have a reservation, we could not be very choosy. The host then kept looking at his reservation app and offered us a very nice table as long as we could be finished by 8:30 PM. We said that two hours is plenty of time! He said he felt bad that there wasn’t room for us but we assured him this was perfect and we would definitely be finished by the time he needed the table back. He was so kind and accomodating. The rest of the staff was also excellent (as always!) and the food was outstanding. I have always loved Purple Patch and will certainly return soon. Thank you PP team for being awesome!“

“Great food and great atmosphere. The food is really authentic and full of flavor. It is an ideal place to order many dishes and share. We had eggplant mezze, dumplings, bolani with potato and pumpkin filling, chicken, cauliflower and qabuli palow. They were all super tasty. The eggplant is one of my favorite. It reminded me of a dish in Turkish cuisine which is called “imam bayildi”. The pilav is with carrots and it is served with lamb, which was super tender and delicious. The pilav is more on the sweet side with the spices and carrot, and definitely worth trying. The chicken was also super juicy and tender. Bolani is also very rich and the filling was unexpectedly spicy (black pepper). I liked the one with the pumpkin filling more. The dumplings are also super tasty and I think they would make you go there multiple times. The service is also super nice. They do have also downstairs, which was surprising to me. It was super cozy. However, if you like more sunlight, I would suggest mentioning it when you are making a reservation. Overall, I would go there multiple times and I am really curious about their soups, which I definitely look forward to trying.“

“First visit; I went for Restaurant Week. I ordered the chicken corn chowder, the short rib ravioli and the caramel cheesecake. The chowder was excellent, a great balance of corn and chicken and a goodly amount--but not too much--pepper. I loved it...and a very generous portion! The ravioli was super too--cooked to perfection, stuffed to capacity with cheese, accompanied by a nice hunk of well-seasoned and -cooked short rib. I wasn't able to finish it, so I took some home. I took the cheesecake home too and ate it after a couple of conf calls. Just the right amount of caramel with a couple of strawberries and a creme Anglaise sauce. Scrumptious!! I don't remember many occasions when I've loved all three courses of a meal, but that was certainly the case tonight. I can't wait to go back.“

Riggs Washington DC Pet Friendly
900 F St NW, Washington

“This review is well overdue and my apologies for it.

I stayed here from 6-29-23 - to 7-3-23 and I can honestly say this hotel lives up to the 5 star name.

From the moment you walk into Riggs, you feel something special with the lay out of it being a prior bank.
I was beyond happy after having a dreadful commute from NYC- DC that my room was ready by 9:30AM. Most hotels are 4pm and I was very grateful for this to rest prior to my start in the nation’s capital.

They give you from what I recall was a $50 credit? I don’t recall the actual amount, but you can use it towards cafe Riggs which has an excellent brunch (In my opinion) or the speakeasy downstairs at Silver Lynn which has amazing cocktails. Great place to go with a group of friends or on a date.
So I thought that was courteous to provide that credit.

The velvet decor from the hallway leading to my room, with the velvet in my room and safe themed fridge to commentate the hotel was a former bank I thought was really cool.

5 stars isn’t just looks and display, I was reached out to by the staff a couple of times directly to see if I needed anything, they made reservations for me at Silver Lyan and even gave me scissors when I locked my belongings in a compartment I broke.
Small things like checking in with your guest, a little credit to the hotel restaurants/amenities come a long way.

This is definitely my first love for a 5 star hotel and I have stayed in quite a few the last two years.

I wish i had written this review as soon as I returned back home, but I want to thank the reception who accommodated me with my reservations, always checking in with me on a daily basis to make sure I was happy , housekeeping of course and the bellman who held my baggage my last day while I burnt time after checkout.

The Riggs does not miss and I will for sure be staying here next time!

Rooms: Velvet decor, elegant bed lining and cool safe box themed fridge to commemorate the hotel being a former bank. Loved the shower and bathroom with the marble floor setting.

Safety: Safe hotel with everything locked down and no one admitted without pass.

Walkability: Close to a a lot of museums and attractions. DC is a big city and most things are scattered in DC, but The Riggs is on the same blocks as Ford’s theatre! About a 15 minute walk from national mall.

Food & drinks: Cafe Riggs: Excellent brunch! Loved the egg sandwich with bacon and ham I had upon my arrival. My last day I ate there as well for breakfast and had the omelet with goat cheese. Solid breakfast spot with a spacious setting.“

Sophie is an incredible somm—super knowledgeable and very approachable. I am not a giant fan of Greek wines, but due to the experience, I joined the wine concierge club on the first visit. $100 bucks a month, custom-assembled based on my likes and dislikes. In addition to unique wines at reasonable price points per bottle for a restaurant, the food is the best Greek food in DC, hands down. I’ve recommended the place to several friends already and plan to take many more wine and food lovers as my guest.“

“This was some of the best food I’ve ever had! We had a bachelor party of eight for Sunday brunch and Anna took incredible care of us. I needed dairy free options and she was able to recommend the veggie omelet and a custom pizza with cashew mozzarella which were both amazing. Our table ordered family style and everything came out promptly and delicious.

Service was great, especially as we had a lot of different dietary needs across the party.

Vegetarian options: There are a lot of vegetarian brunch options with cheese, egg, or both. Veggie omelet, potato cakes, grilled bread!

There are fewer vegan options and I believe the pasta is made with egg, the eggplant parm has Parmesan in the breading, etc. but it’s easy to order a customized vegan pizza or put together a salad.

Dietary restrictions: For an Italian restaurant there are a surprising number of dairy free and gluten free. It would be difficult to accommodate more than one allergy per person though.

Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and possible allergens. The only downside is that there aren’t any indications on the menu of what meals are customizable by allergen, so it’ll be up to you to ask for the accommodation.“

Also, service is pretty attentive and the atmosphere is very cosy. Also, drinks were refreshing.“

“We went for restaurant week with people who had been there before. Had a great meal (pork chop tender and juicy, steak as ordered with great chimichuri, melt-in-your-mouth trout, and amazing dry rub on the chicken, to say nothing of the very light calamari, deviled eggs, and generous beet salad, and did I mention the amazing desserts?), with a very efficient and attentive, but unobtrusive waiter. The food arrival was well paced, and we never felt rushed. Our tablemates confirmed that the restaurant week portions were the same as the regular portions. We'll definitely be back!“

Crab Dip

“Came across this place while browsing rooftop in the DMV to explore.
Decided to check them out. I'm glad I did.

The bartender was the best. Very friendly and attentive. All her recommendations were spot on a hit!

Order;
Cheese board
Lobster rolls starter(my favorite)
Crab dip..

The food was good but the view was even better.
Will recommend walking down by the yard and waterfront. Beautiful with few bar for quick bite“

Swachos

“I decided to give this place a try this past weekend. I ordered the Swachos to-go, and they were absolutely outstanding. The cheese on top was delicious, some of the best I've had. I was only there a short time, but met some people who invited me to a nightclub. I'm glad I chose this place and highly recommend the Swachos. The only drawback was that it was hard to access, due to the extreme traffic of people in the area.“
