“food was very inventive and good, but it was lacking on actual depth of any type of flavor. The service was quite good though we had to wait five minutes to actually be seated because the there was only one person seating people. The interior is very confusing and crowded and the restaurant decor doesn’t really make sense, the fried chicken was very good and unique so was the scallion pancake however, the pho really didn’t have any flavor and they were using chicken stock for some reason so it didn’t really have much flavor.“
“Amazing food from start to finish, amazing portions, great tea, and Coffee. We read the reviews as we where looking for a place to eat breakfast. The owner is amazing, the food is phenomenal, my family and I all agreed. My kids never agree on food, we were all in a food coma.“
“We had the best time at KooKoo DC last night. They accommodated a table of 14 for my spouse's birthday and never let us feel like an imposition. The food was so fresh, authentic, and reasonably priced - I did a double take when we got the bill. I even felt like we went all-out with apps, drinks, and desserts! The owner was also so kind - we just felt so cared for the whole time and can't wait to visit again.“
“The food was good, but definitely not worth $57 a person on a Thursday night….We ordered four dishes (fermented cabbage toast, arancini, thai fried chicken, and scallop crudo) and had a drink each. Portions were small, even the “entrees.” Will not go back anytime soon for dinner. Our waiter was very nice though.*Came back over a year later for dinner because of an InKind Coupon. The $50 off $50 made the meal more worth it. But still expensive for what youre getting.“
“We walked by this place not really looking to eat but the exterior stopped us in our tracks. We looked in and saw all the pastries and decided to make a quick pit stop. We got a Pistachio Meringue Roulette to share. Mistake. Should have gotten one for myself. The flavors work perfectly together. I also got the Strawberry Matcha to wash it all down and I’m still thinking about it. Wish they would bottle that stuff!“
“This place defines the word community. I don’t come to places twice when in DC. This has become an exception to the rule now. The owners made me feel like old friends. The staff are courtesy and professional. I had an amazing coffee. Great beer the night before and watched the WNBA playoffs. I also watched the owner serve her community when someone most bars would throw out came in then one of the owners got up and got this lady some soda. Little things like this are impressive - yes this is a bar, but it is true community demonstrated live and In person.“
“Mita Cafe is super cute! This small cafe offers both Ethiopian and Japanese eats, in addition to breakfast, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, smoothies, and juices. While in the area, we decided to try them out, and ordered: +a Strawberry with Mango smoothie - prepared with mangoes, strawberries, and bananas, made with either your choice of apple or guava juice; we opted for the latter +an order of Spicy Lentil Samboosas - they also have spicy chicken as a filling, too; these are larger than the usual sized sambusas; super crispy, but I thought the filling was way too spicy! +a Tokyo Sushi set - this came with 4 pieces of salmon nigiri, a tuna nigiri, a red snapper nigiri, a roll of salmon maki, and a roll of tuna avocado maki; I really enjoyed the salmon nigiri, and most likely will opt for requesting these only; wasn't really a fan of the maki rolls, as one that contained 'baked salmon' tasked like it was from a tin I'd love to try their paninis next time and get more of their salmon nigiri. I'd also like to try their drinks. Service was very friendly and kind! There are only about 4 tables inside, so most seem to get their orders to go, or there's a queue to get one of the tables. The place is definitely tight and cozy! Street parking is available in the area. +salmon nigiri +tasty smoothies +friendly service! +street parking available in the area“
“We had breakfast here on Sunday and were so glad we did! The foul was amazing! Made me feel like we were back in Addis. The owner was a gracious host and even made coffee ceremony for us. Will DEFINITELY come back next time we are in town!“
“OMG, where do I start? This place is an absolute GEM. Service is incredible and the space/ambiance is top notch. Loved the music and vibe they created. Literally everything we ordered was incredible: - Goat/cheese/herb biscuit sammie: this was one of the best egg biscuit sandwiches I've ever had in my life, no joke - Turmeric labneh toast: delicious, light and unique flavors - the juice + lattes were amazing - Baked cookies: we got 3-4 varieties and they were so so so good. my favorite was the espresso chocolate cookie I can't wait to come back to DC and eat at this place again!“
“Amazing croissants. So flakey and full of wonderful filling. A great value! The mango pannacotta was amazing! The value for the price was fantastic as well! I briefly met the owner. The sweetest person you will ever meet! If I lived in town, I would be here ALL THE TIME!“
“I visited the West End location with my husband while visiting DC and had a phenomenal experience. Aside from the food being absolutely to die for, the customer service is really what impressed me. At the register, we were greeted by an older black woman who was so kind to share suggestions and explain the menu to me despite being very busy. It truly made the ordering experience a breeze. My latte was delivered by a younger light skinned black male and I am not sure where he received his customer service training by but by far he’s got it down pat. After delivering my order he told me, “have a nice day, okay?” but it wasn’t just a pleasantry, it truly seemed like a genuine request. I am beyond impressed with the food, ambiance, and customer service provided!“
“Lovely little spot in Georgetown for authentic French baked goods. They use mostly French ingredients to get as close to the “real thing” as I’ve had in DC. Staff is friendly, efficient, and there is a nice patio in the back to enjoy your coffee.“
“They cashier is nice the ambiance is great with incense that levitates the room. The barista actually knows how to steam the milk and pull wonderful shots. Support small businesses like this. There is wifi and music playing in the background. Try the Fatira with everything (vegetarian friendly)“
“Discovered it when visiting DC. A comfy and cosy spot for an Armenian snack (and coffee if you are into that). Ordered a Lahmajun and Soujuk for a small lunch and they were both so satisfying in flavour and texture =)It would be one of my go to places if I lived in this city. Highly recommended.(If you are tea/tea-latte drinker like me then there unfortunately isn't a drink for us...)“
“Büna has quickly become one of my favorite cafes of all time. The people who work there are so kind and remember your name and order and work to make your experience enjoyable and catered to you specifically. The food (both Ethiopian and American) is absolutely fantastic. Everything I’ve had has been a slam dunk. I am not someone who orders takeout almost ever and I’ve made an exception for this cafe. I keep coming back for the Ethiopian vegan rolls, fir fir side dish and brunch platter! Wish I could take this place everywhere I go!“
“i was visiting from nigeria with my sister in november. stumbled in here by accident and we were so so in love. got a polaroid with a “bowl cat” that’s still on my wall till this day. and it encouraged me to get a calico cat. can’t wait to come again“
“It's been awhile since I used to run U Street and I came looking for the old Starbucks but it was nowhere to be found. I did find Cafe U and I just love this little spot. It's so cute, the Lox is my favorite thing, and the service is great. RIP Starbucks but I'm loving Cafe U.“
“We stopped here to get coffee and a sweet treat and ending up getting the orange blossom croissant and morning bun, which was so good! We also got some baklava for some friends and family, which came in these really cute yellow tin box- a perfect gift!“
“10/10.Very cozy place. You have to queue because it is always full. But I'm not surprised, since the food they make is incredible. The sandwiches left me speechless, to say they were good is a huge understatement. The hot chocolate they serve was also delicious. Ideal to warm up on cold days.I would definitely return to Washington just to have breakfast here.Great!!“
“Finding Lulu’s was one of the best parts of our great vacation. Sakiynah and the nice gentleman at the door were incredibly hospitable, kind, and accommodating. The beverages, retail, and patio are A1. Everything is very clean. Definitely a little corner of heaven in DC. We can’t wait to visit Lulu’s the next time we’re in DC! Thank you Lulus!“
“It’s been 5 years since I last ate here, and it feels like old times today. The breakfast platter taste just like I remembered, the staff is very he beat as always. And they remember me and the melts my heart. #bestbreakfastDC #toptenstaff #“
“The food was really good - couldn’t be faulted! Service was excellent too.My only gripe was the amount of single use plastic items in the cafe. Everything from the plate to the cup to the cutlery was disposable. We need to do better by our planet.“
“This charming boutique LGBT bar in Washington DC truly stands out. The servers greeted us warmly, and the atmosphere buzzed with delight. The seating area was exquisite, complemented by a lovely bar. During the Valentine's season, the decor was tastefully adorned, enhancing the experience. The cocktails were expertly crafted, boasting a unique and potent flavor profile that set them apart. I wholeheartedly suggest giving them a try; the drinks are truly exceptional. Alongside a selection of chips, nuts, and a delightful cheeseboard, they offer a range of food options that align perfectly with the bar's boutique theme. The prices were fair, reflecting the high quality and generous quantities of the drinks. We visited this gem twice during our brief stay in DC, and it was a delightful experience each time.“
“Be careful when using these atms , I used one of the atms and it acted like it was going to dispense the money and it did not. Gave me an error code and said reversal. Well it shows on my account as the money was dispensed, now I have to call my bank and ask for a refund. Be careful with these so called meta bank atms. I wouldn’t use them anymore. Because up n smoke is going to tell you it’s not their issue to deal with. Lady behind me had the same thing happen to her.“
“SUCH delicious food made with wholesome fresh ingredients. You taste it in every bite.Boyfriend and I stopped in spontaneously and ordered a pepperoni pizza with pesto cubes, meatballs with fresh bread, and pesto pistachio fettuccine. Everything was so heavenly, I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner.Restaurant itself is very casual, which I appreciate as well! It's a cozy vibe.“
“I love this place is very friendly and. Clean the customers service is amazing the dessert is the best test and the flavor I lover everything this place I recommend everyone can came trying the delicious Sweet Lemon Cafe ❤️❤️❤️❤️“
“Teaism is a well-known teahouse brand with four shops in Washington, DC. I prefer the one in Dupont Circle because it has a cozy and homely feel, especially the upstairs dining area with windows overlooking the street. The place has an Asian-inspired decor and offers quality teas, all-day breakfast, bento boxes, light Japanese and Thai-style meals, and some snacks such as cookies and Asian-inspired desserts like matcha gelato, jasmine creme brulee, and mochi. We ordered salmon and Korean Beef Brisket bento sets, which tasted amazing. The salads that came with them added crunchiness to the food. The mochi had the expected texture and taste. It's a self-service establishment, so there is little to discuss about the service.“
“Pretty crowded on Saturday afternoons, but that's to be expected. There were several tables to sit at and fortunately, it didn't take me too long to find something. They get their beans from Small Planes (one of my favorite DC coffee roasters) and their Honduras pour over (for 5.00) was smooth and enjoyable. I also got a chocolate croissant (for 6.00) to pair with it which was quite tasty. Overall, solid coffee and pastries here and the atmosphere was lively. Also, Capitol Hill is a great neighborhood to visit and enjoy a snack/coffee break!“
“This restaurant had fantastic Nordic food, prepared by the owner/chef who, in past career was the chef for two Scandinavian embassies. He and all of the personnel were extremely friendly and helpful, explaining what Skagen was, as well as what made for a Swedish potato sausage. The soups were great as was the salmon eggs Benedict. As for deserts be sure to get the cranberry rhubarb sour cream tart!!! We highly recommend this restaurant!!!“
“I’ve tried them all. Elle, the Den, Emissary, Tatte, Buna, 1990s cappuccinos at the Willard. Gotta hand it to the Den at #2, also an excellent experience. But Doubles is #1.Best coffee in DC when they get it right. Get a latte “for here” in one of their thick ceramic mugs and sit out in the warm Spring air on their covered patio. What a way to spend a Sunday.“
“We always choose Johnny's All American to showcase a lively neighborhood bar to our clients. The decor, paying homage to the owner's grandfather's army service and community involvement, is truly impressive. Witnessing a person's legacy reflected in the intricate details on the walls and artwork adds a special touch to the overall experience. It's a unique and meaningful atmosphere that resonates with both history and community spirit.“
“My girls and I had brunch there. We all enjoyed the food. The kimchi rice was absolutely delicious! The space is small but clean and comfortable. It is helpful to ask directions at the front desk since you take an elevator to get there. Totally worth your time.“
“If you're a fan of the arts, Maketto is the place to be in DC! I was traveling here for a concert and was looking for a good coffee shop to stop by to, but Maketto has sooo much more! This half coffee shop, half shoe store, half record shop, half restaurant is a must try! The coffee and beverages are amazing and the atmosphere is unforgettable.“
“In order to get my health in line, I've decided to eat more/drink more produce. This decision isn't cheap but I'm giving it a shot. After having some extremely expensive Smoothies from Fruitive the past couple of days, I decided to give Zeleno a shot. I ordered the Mango Dragon Smoothie, Acai Bowl, and the Classic Wellness Shot. I spent about $2 less for all this than I would have at Fruitive just for a Smoothie. I spent $33 for all this at Zeleno compared to $35 at Fruitive. I ordered online yesterday for pickup today through the Toast app and had no issues walking in and grabbing my items. The space is small, but charming. I was very impressed with the Acai Bowl and Smoothie but the Wellness Shot was extremely tart and spicy. I wasn't sure what to expect but I can say it wasn't for me. I like the fact I can get more bang for my buck here compared to Fruitive and might make this my daily spot during the week for breakfast.“
“Such a great visit and such a great decision to come and check out this museum. I do warn you, it is an emotional experience that will transport you to a difficult time in our world's history. We were in town to sight see and were museum hopping. It wasn't hard to make a reservation. We only booked a few days prior and it was simple. Admission is free which is a plus. Location is near the National Mall, just a few blocks down so make sure you have your walking shoes ready. I would give yourself a full day if you want to digest everything that is available to you in the space. There is so much to see. Exhibits, videos, and audio guides that are well put together. You can easily be there at least 2-3 hours, maybe longer if you want to read about everything. It is a really popular spot, so I would suggest getting there early and on peak days, maybe even trying to book in advance to ensure your visit.“
“$1 coffee is the best thing I’ve ever seen! Yes, you can get an 8oz cup of coffee for only $1. That means you can get 40 ounces of coffee here for the same price as a 12oz cup from Starbucks! That alone deserves 5 stars. The food is also very well priced, and you can get breakfast for only $3 (or less). The spaces is also good for chilling or studying by yourself or in a group. If I lived close by, I would probably come here every day ??♀️“
“Coffee was excellent but what sold it for me was the service. They made sure my coffee was exactly what wanted: sweetness, enough milk, etc. I was a to go order and the gentleman working the front was still very attentive. I will be returning :)“
“A good cup of coffee, a bit high on the price, in a space that feels like it was engineered to make you uncomfortable. Really, the coffee is quite good, but it takes ~8min for a single cup. Also, while you wait, you can either cram into a small table by the full-length glass walls or sit at a singular round-table-esqu table and try to play king of the manspreaders. It's just crazy. I imagine this is the best they could come up with given the realities of the triangular space, but what works on paper just feels super uncomfortable and weird in person. Also, the line is not called out by any visible signage... so people just wander in front of the cashier the entire day asking folks milling around (8min for a cup of coffee, rmemeber) if they are in line. It sounds like I didn't like the place, but that's not true. It's good coffee. It just isn't the best experience to get it. TL;DR: Good coffee to go if you don't need to be anywhere too soon.“
“Such a fun eatery and venue! Found out about this place while researching local concerts/shows. Pies were great, I wish I had the chance to try more pies on their menu.Headed upstairs for a punk show after eating the slice of pie. For me, this was a new experience and a really good one! I will definitely visit again.“
“A cozy little cafe that offers the perfect respite from the cold outside. The owner is incredibly kind and friendly, and the food is delicious! Wish I got to try more of the traditional Ethiopian selections on the menu, but all the more reason to go back ☺️“
“I look this place and wish the chain opened in NYC. They've got good coffee, good baled goods, a bright energetic interior, and a wonderful lunch menu. Fast casual so no table service you order up front and they give you a number. Someone brings the food to you when its ready. Its never a bad idea to stop here.“
“Really cute spot. Hit or miss on business. This is the second time I've come and the first time it was SLAMMED like uncomfortably so this time was great, much less people and able to order and get food within a timely manner. We did order downstairs and they brought it up to the roof top (which is ADORABLE) for us. Water is self service. We got the chicken wrap and the Cuban, neither came with sides and they were both around $13.50 which I think is pricey especially for no sides included. Did i leave feeling full and was the food good? Yes. Overall good spot with lots to do around it.“
“Delicious breakfast blt and pastries. Generously sized blt. Excellent, speedy service. Great atmosphere for a quick bite or to study. The sweeter, more elaborate coffee options and horchata looked very tempting. I'll have to try them next time.“
“Very friendly and great service. Bagels, croissants, baguettes, ciabatta, they have all kinds of and you can ask all kinds of servings on them. It is made with love and served with pleasure and well presented. It is a bit small, but you can sit here in the morning usually. We only went for breakfast since it was close to the hotel. Worth going!“
“Very cool bar and restaurant. Stayed at the hotel and got drawn to the cool atmosphere of the bar downstairs. The bartenders are very nice and professional. Gio, and Nick especially, went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and had a good time. Will definitely come back!!“
“My first time in Washington D.C., I got off at Union Station. It took me about 5 minutes to walk to the store. The first time I saw the store I was very impressed. The atmosphere inside the shop is very good. My boyfriend ordered an Americano. I ordered a latte and it was delicious.“
“We are so glad to see this cafe do well in our neighborhood. I believe in cafes in every neighborhood. We walk our dog every morning and grab hot chocolate and coffee when we walk by this place. They have recently redid their interiors. Looks much spacious now and very welcoming. With my drinks, I often get their samosa or spinach puffs. It's so good. For lunch, my go to is their Ethiopian combo. They have 5 different veggies and recently added meat as well. Absolutely delicious! Depending on how busy they are, expect to wait for the Ethiopian entree. Worth it.“
“Well worth the drive!! While visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland I was in the mood for some soul food. I googled a few place by looking at the pictures, so Henry’s soul cafe in Washington DC caught my eye, Plus I was going to be in the area. Food looked good but I had to wait till I got back to my room to eat because I didn’t go to the one with a seating area, No problem though lol but I was hungry. All the sides were delicious, i got the rib plate it was good and tender. My wife got the fried pork chop plate and she loved it. So much food we was eating off each other plate.“
“Enjoyed the breads and desserts that were bought. My Daughter is a GF from wheat allergies. They're are alot of bad GF breads out there but rise had there combinations of flours and other ingredients down. Everything tasted like their gluten counterparts there creating. Just wish there was a way to make a croissant, flaky like an original croissant. 5☆ for this bakery“
“I loved this spot! We went around 4 PM on a Tuesday and it was lovely, quiet, and delicious. The staff clearly love being there and provided top notch service, with several recommendations. The not-pizza’s are pretty big, so one was enough to split when we ordered hummus, the carrots, and the olives too. We are so lucky to have this incredible Palestinian spot for delicious food, pastries, drinks, and even coffee!!“
