“We had a lovely time here. I ordered the white shrimp entree and the white beans dish that was pale green with asparagus and the enchilada; all were delicious. Chips and salsa was great as a free starter. We sat at this mini bar section and the 2 wait staff there gave us exceptional service. I casually mentioned something about the shrimp dish being a tad salty and they just decided to send me a less salty replacement dish and recommended a vegetable dish to complement it.Five-star Service: Very nice and attentive staff but also leave you be to enjoy your meal so was a pretty relaxed atmosphere.Parking: Better off taking the metroKid-friendliness: Ok if bringing older kids“

If you visit Vera, make sure to try it - you won't regret it. And speaking of must-tries, their Dios Del Andes y Cedro cocktail is a personal favorite of mine. “I recently had the pleasure of visiting Los Caballeros for their weekend brunch and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles from the staff and the owner himself. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and had a laid-back vibe, perfect for a lazy weekend brunch. Now let's talk about the food. Los Caballeros proved to be a pleasant surprise. They were able to accommodate options for vegetarians, vegans, and pescatarians. But what truly stole the show for me were the drinks. I highly recommend trying their pitcher of tamarindo margarita. It was the perfect blend of sweet and tangy, and definitely hit the spot. They also had other options like mimosas and bloody marys for those who prefer a classic brunch drink. The owner, who was also our server, was incredibly friendly and attentive. He made sure we were enjoying our meal and even gave us some recommendations for their signature dishes. It was evident that he takes great pride in his restaurant and wants his customers to have a memorable experience. To end our brunch on a sweet note, we decided to try their dessert. And let me tell you, it was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.Overall, my experience at Los Caballeros was exceptional. From the food to the drinks to the service, everything was top-notch. I highly recommend checking them out for their weekend brunch or even for a regular meal. The owner and his team have truly created a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for their customers. So next time you're in the mood for some delicious food, head over to Los Caballeros and treat yourself to a delightful brunch. You won't regret it.Parking: This area of parking gets very busy due to being right beside the area of the Capitol.“

“Being from Texas, I had to keep in mind that this was not Tex-Mex. The food was awesome! We had cucaraches, which was fried shrimp with a hot sauce, and nacho mama for appetizers. They were both amazing! The sauce is really not too spicy, just a little tangy . Birria tacos were good and cheesy. Everything was good! Service was prompt even though we had reservations. Nice and cozy, with low lighting. I tried a drink- A Piná which wasn't frozen but served over slushy ice. This place is definitely one to put in your rotation.“

I would say depending on your dish, it may be smaller or larger than you expect.I would advise not taking a car as it probably applies to all of DC, public transit and walking access was amazing and the area did not feel unsafe at the 8pm hour that we ate.Overall, we enjoyed our service, a comfortable authentic Mexican place for visitors!Parking: We saw some parking spots but very difficult to navigate around this area with car.“

“Authentic Mexican food, but small portions for the price. Came to taqueria habanero with some friends because we've been looking for good, authentic Mexican food in DC. Surprisingly, it's been more difficult to find than we thought! I ordered the huarache with steak and I also shared the guac and chips with my table. I was excited to see huaraches on the menu because it's not available everywhere. When my plate came, it looked and tasted delicious, but I felt that the portion was quite small for $15. I know Mexican food in DC is pricy either way, but where I'm from, I would be able to get a huarache triple the size for the same price. I also am someone who gets full pretty easily, but this meal did not fill me up. Still looking for my go-to spot in DC and this is definitely a contender, but the portion size really is a factor for me.“

“Went there for a dinner with my dad - he is a flavor snob.Immediately, the service stuck out. Our waiter was on us, telling us the house favorites and getting us ready for their margaritas. The margaritas were okay, probably the last thing to write home about. Also thought they were a little pricey, but that’s all drinks in DC.We started with queso fundido; a queso-string-cheese hybrid topped with jalapeños, onions, and tomatoes. Was fantastic and paired amazing with their corn tortillas. For dinner, we tried the fish, chicken, and brisket tacos and ordered their birria taco-quesadilla (apparently also a house fav). All of the tacos were great; chicken and brisket were super tender, fish taco was juicy with sweet crema nodes. The birria taco-quesadilla was definitely more of just a quesadilla, I think it was the best meat on the table (my dad would disagree).Great vibes, trendy decor, has that small taqueria feel. If you’re looking for something boujee, not the place; if you want somewhere upbeat, affordable, and intimate, it is the place.“

“Torn between 3 and 4 stars. As a recent texas transplant, I was craving some good tacos and Mangonada. The brick-and-mortar equivalent of a food truck, the service was quick and staff professional. They have an online order-ahead option that I recommend for larger orders. The Al pastor tacos I got were AMAZING, and a reasonable portion for the price (for DC). They didn't have mangonada, but they had a tropical version called piña chamoyada, and it was delicious! Lots of mango, pineapple, and coconut, laced with chamoy and tajin. I highly recommend both of these! However, whatever they're trying to pass off as Elote is not it, Fam. I was so excited for a good cup of street corn, but this lacked any spice or lime, and even just the cheese and Mayo (?) tasted weird, like maybe they're using something else. Ate one bite, stirred it up and tried a second bite, and immediately put it away. No sir this was not street corn and not even good. This is what knocked down the ratings for me, especially at $8. I might be back for the tacos, but I need to find another place for my elote fix.“

“I've been coming here for what 3? 5? 6 years now? I always get the same thing and it's always perfect. There's one thing can be said for amazing food, it's a completely different thing when talking about amazing consistency. I've never, ever had a steak quesadilla or sangria as amazing as they make them here. It's simple, steak, cheese, and tortilla. It's so simple, but the flavors and taste are simply unmatched. Perfection. Service is just AMAZING. I think the phrase comfort food gets thrown around quite a bit, but I make a point to come 2-4 times a month because as I described to my partner, the food just evokes emotion. Reassurance, acceptance, warmth, winning, and just contentment, when I get a steak quesadilla from Guapos on Wisconsin Ave, I just know whatever is going on in my life, it's going to be okay. The sangria is unmatched. I tried various sangrias around D.C. and this is definitely my number 1. Their Tres Leches cake is also a treat when I'm in the mood for dessert.“

“I don't know if I was just really hungry or if this was some of the best Mexican food in DC! The carnitas in my nachos was so flavorful and tender! The carne asada burrito was amazing. They have margaritas on tap and I thought that was pretty cool. This restaurant is located inside the Bryant Street Market. This was my first time there and the layout is pretty cool, tons of seating and some other good looking by eateries. We finished the meal off with some caramel covered churros that were pretty decent. The caramel definitely took them to the next level. The customer service was ok, but we didn't really need anything from them after we got our food and found somewhere to sit.“

“It was a lovely surprise to find this hidden gem! I would recommend the appetizer ceviche but wish they could’ve added more tostada. The main entree (mezcalero skillet) was great too. They did not underserve and the food was served quickly within 20 mins of sitting down. Efficient and attentive!!Parking: The first three hours is free and located in the backside of the restaurant. The great part is the elevator takes you directly to the cosecha level where the restaurant is located within.“

“An alright choice for a late night dinner when options are limited. I stumbled upon this place on a Monday night around 9pm and the tables were taken by a few groups. The bar was pretty empty at this point so I was able to be seated somewhat soon.Pros:- many options for small bites and sides if you’re looking for something light- food came out very quick (under 10mins)- Vanessa? The bartender was attentive with my needs and checked up on me often and refilled my water regularly- I ordered a burrito bowl which looked small upon first glance but it was really filling! I didn’t finish the whole thing. The corn in the bowl was also so sweet and refreshing- great place to meet people who are staying in the hostelCons:- I was standing at the “wait here to be seated” sign for a while and multiple staff members walked past me (making eye contact) and not seating or acknowledging me. I was very close to leaving for this reason- note that there is an automatic 18% service charge regardless of your group sizeOverall it was a fine experience. Would go back if I needed a quick bite to eat late at night! I didn’t try any of their drinks, however they sounded very tasty.“

“I've been a loyal customer of Las Placitas for over two decades! I've followed them from their old location to their new location here in Navy Yard. Their food never disappoints and it's a place you can come to whine down. Don Jose is the face of the restaurant and he's one of the main reasons I always come back! I couldn't recommend this place enough“

“D.C. Corazon tiene mi corazón ❤️As a Mexican-American who moved to DC from Texas, it’s been a miserable two year journey of trying to find a “Mexican restaurant” that actually serves authentic Mexican food. I’m happy to have found DC corazon last week, where my partner and I tried their tacos, chicken mole, and carne asada huarache. Today we ordered similar items and added elote into the mix as well as their cheese quesadilla. All I can say is that I’m glad to have a piece of home in DC now. The drinks are also incredible, so make sure you get your serving of both food and drinks when you visit.“

“This is a hidden gem! Stopped by for happy hour. The menu offered a good variety of food. The seafood nachos were amazing! Flavorful and cheesy with the right amount of heat. The margarita I ordered was perfect (not too sour, not too sweet). The only downside was the service. It took about 30 minutes to receive my food, in an empty restaurant. When it was time to pay, it took about 30 minutes. After waiting the first 15 minutes, I had to ask the waitress what was the issue. At that time she informed me that their card machine wasn’t working. I waited another 15 minutes for them to continue attempting to troubleshoot. After waiting for so long, I went to an atm to pay them in cash. I would recommend coming here if you don’t have plans afterwards.“

“Parking wasn’t bad, but I might have gotten lucky. Worst case scenario, you park a 4-5 minute walk away. Was sat immediately. The place is HUGE. Don’t think that it’s not worth going if you don’t have a reservation.By huge, I mean 3 expansive floors, an outdoor seating area, and an indoor rooftop deck.I sat with a friend at the table furthest from the rooftop entrance. Cool view of the strip outside, and close to the bar.The food and drinks came out alarmingly fast. I had the crab and shrimp quesadilla, which quite literally came out in 4-5 minutes. The quesadilla had a good meat to cheese ratio (40:60) and was portioned well. It wasn’t soggy, which a lot of quesadillas have problems with, and paired well with the tomatoes, jalapeños and guacamole that came on the side. 10/10The chips and salsa that came on the house were standard. The chips could use seasoning, and the salsa was the watery type, which isn’t my favorite. 5/10The strawberry daiquiri was delicious- light, flavorful and fresh. 10/10The lemonade (with lime added) receives the same regards. Fresh, the right amount of tartness and sweetness. 10/10My friend’s review stats:Quesadilla- 8/10Margarita on the rocks- 10/10Chips and warm salsa- 9/10Service was efficient.“
