“This is a great local spot that serves yummy margaritas! They were busy, when we were seated but the service was on point. They never forgot about us, and made sure we always had full drinks and fresh chips/salsa. The steak quesadilla was delicious!“

“Hands down one of the best kept DMV secrets! ? Delicious food made on site for REASONABLE prices. The people who work there have been so lovely every time. They are also bilingual, spanish and english, so you can order in either.Highly recommend the papusas and tacos ?“

“Came here two weeks in a row and it was amazing both times. The margarita was delicious and large for 19.99. The tacos stole the show for me. The portion size was great. I forget what the other meal I got was called but it had chorizo, chicken, steak and shrimp. Overall, this El Paso location is my new favorite. Our server Javier was very attentive and gave great service. Request him when you visit.“

“I have come here dozens of times since moving to Alexandria in 2020 and it is absolutely the best Mexican food in the area. Sure there are great places to jus get tacos, or a great torta, or really good burritos (all of which I talk about in my other reviews). But El Paso restaurant does all of it great! The rice and refried beans taste like home (I am actually from El Paso, Texas!). The main difference from the food back home is the spice level. The food is not very spicy here but I guess that makes sense for the area. But I happy to report that this Mexican gives it five stars and everytime I go, there are many other hispanics enjoying dinner there. So that should give you confidence in how delicious and authentic the food is.My favorites are the enchiladas rancheras, the pollo con mole, the baja fish tacos, and the fajitas! Oh gosh those fajitas! Watch out as they come out steaming hot! So you better order a giant mango margarita!“

“Besides 3 tacos, I got every taco they had. The variety and range did not disappoint. My personal favorite was the surf and turf.I couldn't remember the bartenders name but they recommend a great mezcal for me and it was amazing. And turned that same mezcal into a spicy margarita for me top tierNext time I come I'll be sure to ask the bartender name to give them the recognition they deserve.“

“Smoked Pork Belly (Pictured): 5/5 was very good and tender fell off the fork with corona. My bunny got shrimp and steak Tacos (2) 4/5 decent size, they were good. (Not pictured) with tequila shot & modelo. Service: 5/5 she was very attentive they closed the kitchen but, she tried to get me a queso & chips. The only complaint I have they didn’t tell my boyfriend how much the tequila shot was. We will be back!“

“There’s street parking which you sometimes have to pay for but there might be a parking lot too. Just not sure. Service is great in a lively, comfortable setting. The food is even better. I tried this location partly because it’s closer to my home but also for a new experience. I was not disappointed. We went there for an early lunch and to beat the crowd. Chips and salsa were great. I had the chorizo con huevos which was delicious and so much I couldn’t finish it all. My wife had the mojarra frita with shrimps on top with a butter garlic sauce. She raved about it.“

“Authentic and creative dishes - everything is delicious! I've been extremely lucky to have Taqueria Picoso catered at large gatherings, and everyone has enjoyed something. I'm nearly always the most difficult to feed in the group as I'm plant based / vegan, but it's not an issue here! Often, in order for me to eat good, I have to go to a restaurant that has a health-conscious brand (you know what I mean - green juices, salads, etc.). It can be quite challenging to find a decent, filling meal at a restaurant; my options are usually a plain salad (cheese and meat removed, but still full price!) or something made out of potatoes. An authentic restaurant? Forget about it! It's nice to actually be able to enjoy a filling meal with family and friends at Taqueria Picoso! For other plant based / vegan folks (or anyone, really!), try their vegan chorizo & potato tacos. I could also probably eat their salsa out of a bowl with a spoon...“

“I went on Saturday and had a Mexi-Cuban torta. It was DELICIOUS! It's Sunday and I'm going back for some cookies now. La Mexicana might become my once-a-week food indulgence. Simple & clean place, delicious home-cooked quality. At comparable price range, far superior to 5 Guys or Panera, by far. The secret's out!“

“The pupusas and tacos are a must. They're probably some of the better tacos you can get around the Landmark area. I did order their Birria Fries, and I had mixed feelings. The meet and toppings themselves were delicious; however, the fries were soggy and actually cold. I would definitely have enjoyed it way more if it was hot and crispy.I've also had the Birria tacos and Birria ramen during another visit. I'd definitely recommend them!“

“I've heard about this place everywhere: Instagram, TikTok, friends, so I had to come and see for myself. One thing everyone was saying, though, is be prepared to wait: the place is never empty. Came here around lunchtime on a Tuesday, and surprisingly got in without a line and the place was not crowded at all! We got the quesabirria tacos, beef and queso mulita, and the birria torta, and all three were very fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The restaurant definitely lived up to the hype! Prices in this place are more than justified. The ambiance is very simple and casual, and the food is so amazing and authentic, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Been meaning to come back to try their birria ramen and satisfy the taco cravings, so will be paying a visit soon!“

“I've gotten tacos, Mexican pizza, and nachos here, and they were all good. The best part is the price! Tippy's is one of the few places left where you can still get a full meal for less than $10. It's nice to be able to eat out without being overcharged. The food was prepared pretty quickly and the person was nice enough.“

“I'm new to the Alexandria area and have been scoping out restaurants here and there in the area. No need to look any further, I've found my go to restaurant. Conveniently located by my local grocery store so I can shop then have a margarita and some taquitos. First time in this place I was greeted immediately and welcomed in with a friendly staff. The food and drinks here are right up my alley and Lilo took great care of me by keeping the drinks coming in a fast efficient manner at the bar. Officially a regular“

“Pupusas here are good. It's a mix of Mexican and Salvadoran food and I've been coming to it for years. The old school drinks, plátanos con crema and pupusas are delicious. The jukebox with cumbias and musica latina sets a good vibe. The staff is friendly and it's not always too busy.“

“Walked across the street to grab quick tacos while my wife was ordering momos at Royal Nepal. Got the chicharrones (great crunchiness to it) and lengua (perfectly cooked) and both were amazing. Good portion, and had great flavor. Definitely will grab more tacos from here if I'm in the area.“

“We arrived in the middle of the night, walked around a lot, and finally checked into the hotel and could go out to eat. I found this top rated Mexican restaurant nearby. The taste is very good. Taco has always been one of my favorites. The advantage of Mexican restaurants is that their products are relatively stable. Also, it’s everywhere here.“

“Very good. Regarding food, good menu. Although for me I think there is little food, they should increase their prices and the amount of food but everything is very good. Everything is delicious. Meat hoe 19 and something should increase 3 to 5 dollars and put enough sides between the rice, beans, salad and guacamole. The amount of meat is fine. That's just a suggestion and my opinion.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taqueria El Poblano in Del Ray Alexandria, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth raving about! From the moment we walked in, the aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine filled the air, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable meal. First off, let's talk about the portions - they're absolutely astronomical! My dining companion and I found ourselves marveling at the generous servings placed before us. Trust me when I say, if you visit Taqueria El Poblano, make sure you arrive hungry! Now, onto the main event - the margaritas. Renowned as the best in Virginia for six consecutive years, they certainly did not disappoint. We indulged in the cherry and mango margaritas, and oh boy, were they a treat! Smooth, flavorful, and expertly crafted, these cocktails were the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Speaking of the meal, we kicked things off with the Poblano's Queso Dip - a mouthwatering blend of cheese, tequila, and spices, topped with chorizo and broiled to perfection. It was packed with flavor and set the bar high for the dishes to come. For our mains, I opted for the Tostada, while my spouse went for the Poblano's Real Burrito. Both dishes were bursting with color and flavor, and the portions were more than generous. I couldn't help but feel like Chipotle had nothing on the size of these burritos! The service at Taqueria El Poblano was exemplary - attentive, friendly, and quick. Whether you're looking to unwind with Margarita Monday specials, catch happy hour, or enjoy a weekend dinner, this place has you covered. A bit of background on the restaurant: Founded by executive chef Glen Adams, a California native with a passion for Southern California Mexican cuisine, Taqueria El Poblano has been serving up fare inspired by regional Mexican and L.A.-style cuisine since 1999. From Fish Tacos to Duck Carnitas, their menu showcases a delightful array of flavors, with specials changing daily. In conclusion, if you're in the mood for a flavor fiesta paired with stellar margaritas, look no further than Taqueria El Poblano. Just remember one thing - come hungry!“

The service is first class; The staff are extremely attentive and friendly, always making sure you feel comfortable and well looked after. The atmosphere is unmatched with music that makes you feel like you are on vacation in a tropical paradise. And not to mention the food: each dish is a masterpiece of flavor, with fresh and authentic ingredients that transport you directly to Mexico. It's an explosion of flavor in every bite! “The Location may not seem so appealing but that’s not the reason for my review , The Service was very great !! & the Food Portions and taste were great , staff tried to understand my English as best as they could and luckily I speak Spanish & I appreciated them trying otherwise ! :) My new favorite spot for some good Fajitas freshly made !!“

“Quite good! I had the chicken and steak fajitas, and they were really good! The beans and rice that came with weren’t anything to write home about, and the salsa (although fresh) was not my favorite style—quite watery. Overall though, this was a good meal at a reasonable price. I would definitely go back!“

“Ordered takeout for the first time after driving by many times. I was in the mood for tacos and was not disappointed. I got the tacos dorados, which were perfectly crispy and not too heavy on toppings. My husband got a few tacos regulares with some different meats and loved them. We also got chips and guacamole, and loved that the chips were clearly handmade and fresh. Service was great (my husband actually left without the rice and beans and they called to tell us). As Texans, we are thrilled to find an authentic taco place with quality food. Will definitely be back.“

“I have been to this place a little too much in the last month because their food is really good; specially the carne asada. All the food I've tried is good in taste, quality and quantity. Their prices are very reasonable, too. The staff has always been polite and friendly.I've mostly done takeout but have eaten there twice. The eating area and the restroom were clean both times. But it's quite a bit loud and too casual for my taste. I recommend doing takeout and checking your food to make sure that your order is accurate before you leave.“

“Absolutely love and seek out smaller “Hole In the Wall” or “Mom and Pop Shops”. This place has everything I want; excellent food, great price, smiling faces, and cozy surroundings. I’ve eaten at all of the smaller street taco spots in Alexandria/Old Town and this place by far is the best.Street tacos are packed with meat that is tender and cooked to perfection(the Lingua was absolutely the most tender I’ve ever had) and the carne asada was as well. Pupusa’s were amazing, as well as the tamales.I also like that they have a salsa/condiment bar with cilantro, radish, lime, and chopped onions to choose from.Sadly, I didn’t take any photos lol, I was too busy talking about my food with my friend who is also a Chef. He too was thrilled with the food and couldn’t stop singing their praises. Definitely my new spot and will be returning very soon. Well done!!!“

“Food quality and taste-wise, this is one of the most consistent Taco Bells I have been to. The portions are generous, orders are accurate and staff is polite and friendly.I skip a few close-by locations to avoid hit or miss orders, and drive to this one for the consistency.“

“Our group of 5 ordered to-go with quite a bit of food ranging from a dozen pupusas and Camarones Al Ajo. Food was hot and plentiful. All sides were included and enough to go with each bite. I ordered Camarones Al Ajo and I could definitely split it into two meals for two different days. The shrimp were springy with the delicious taste of a bbq sear still on them. Happy to order again!“

“The good: The food is always excellent quality. They’re not shy about the chips (other locations give you like five chips), staff are always friendly and helpful. The bad: My only complaint is very small. They advertise that they close at 10pm. However, on multiple occasions I have tried to grab some food between 9:30-9:45 and the doors are locked and they will signal that they are closed. I’m not taking away a star because the staff have explained it’s due to either staff shortage or food shortage, so not their fault.I do still highly recommend this Moe’s location.“

“Fantastic street tacos ($4-$6 per) and delicious margaritas. Orders are taken on a kiosk, so… no human interaction and straight forward. The only interaction we had was through the bar tender, which wasn’t much. Didn’t seem like wanted to be there nor did he seem to care about customers waiting to order. Bottom line - awesome food, unfriendly drinks.“
