“El Paso is a great spot if you’re craving authentic Mexican food in Alexandria. I ordered the surf and turf tacos, and they were absolutely fantastic—loaded with perfectly seasoned steak and shrimp, plenty of flavor, and served on crispy tortillas. I’d order them again without hesitation.

The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh, the rice and beans were solid, and the service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a fun, colorful atmosphere that’s comfortable whether you’re grabbing lunch or dinner.

“I have been going here for a few years now! Food is very authentic. You want a delicious wonderful drink as to be seated in Diana section! Her drinks are A1! Or you cam choose to sit at the bar(I've done it a time or two! Her drink making skills have note wavered, She makes the best Red Passion Margaret's (trust you want be disappointed)
I always get the same ting since im a creature of habit for my main dish which is the pick 3. At 17.99 you can't beat it. Mines comes with 1 of each quesadilla burrito and Toscana. Uout choice of meats, with a side of beans and rice
Now if you're feeling adventurous do what we did. Have Diana make you a Stret Taco player of her choice! Do t forgot to try theire Homemade guacamole, and the Queso with Chorizo(awesome choice if you a cheese and spicy pork lover like myself)“

“We jokingly say Tippys has the best mediocre tacos, but legit we eat here multiple times a month and absolutely love it!

My husband is from the area and the owners literally watched him and his friends grow up, and every time we come in he asks us about our family and how we’re doing - it’s just so wonderful! Very rare to have such connections these days and that’s part of the charm!

The kitchen is immaculate too! I was a restaurant manager and have seen some things but you can clearly see that they are well above standards!

You truly cannot beat the service, the price is spot on, and it’s just a neighborhood staple. In a world of curbside and delivery, Tippys is just this nice place where you can see a friend and eat good food.

There was a large tv on the wall playing a TV show REALLY loud and the three servers just stood there and watched the show. Customer service in the States isn't great anymore, but I can usually get a friendly efficient server at a Mexican restaurant. Not this day.“

Why can't good places like Abi have great chips like Titos in Del Ray(but they have shitty food) or Chili's has great chips but thats not authentic food like Abi

“Ordered a Chicken Quesadilla combo (which comes with rice & beans) & a Carne Asada Taco. The rice & beans were a 10/10, and the taco/steak was also very good. I will say I personally found the chicken quesadilla to be a little flavorless unless you used sour cream, which thankfully I ordered, so without the sour cream I wouldn’t recommend that particular item, but with the sour cream it was an 8 or 9/10!

A lot of people are leaving reviews saying the service was bad. That was not the case for us, the staff was very nice and accommodating. I also liked that they cooked everything fresh to order, you could even see the chef/cook making everything while you waited.

Finally, the inside of the restaurant was very clean too. I would come back!!“

“We were sat immediately and the service was great from start to finish. They have a large menu with a variety of meals to choose from! The salsa was flavorful and the chicken poblano was incredible! I’d go back just for this dish alone. We snacked on some fried yuca as well. Overall a great experience, we’ll be back.“

Otherwise, this is a very good location. I always do special orders because I’m vegetarian and this location should always get some correct, which is awesome.

“I've been here recently and I have had their pupusa on multiple occasions. The quality matches the price (about $3 each, you can get them a la cart or a normal order is 3 pupusas). I'll admit I have had fancier pupusas, sure, but those are $6+ each at least and lets face it - when we want those delicious warm, gooey, filling bread pockets no one wants to waste money on fancy, you just want comforting, reasonably priced, and tasty. Something that leaves you sitting happy and fulfilled. This is that. This has become my new go to pupusa place.

Their salsa dip and spicy pickled cabbaged slaw (I think?) is also a perfect accent to the heavy pupusa, it cuts through the dominating cheese and beans is refreshing.“

“I enjoyed dining at this pupuseria. It was the first time I had been back since it was called the Magic Skillet years ago. Luckily, the restaurant still has all of breakfast menu items from back in the day Plus some classic Latin dishes. My friend ordered the traditional southwest omelet. I ordered a chicken pupusa, a tamal and a taco Al pastor. The pupusa was a 5/5. It was amazing! The tamal and taco were good, 4/5. My friend loved his menu choice. Prices are very fair as well. We’ll definitely be back.“
