If I had been blindfolded and didn't know that I entered the establishment via the parking lot of Belle View Shopping Center I would have thought I was in an upscaled restaurant in downtown DC. This has become our favorite date night spot. Delicious food options and creative cocktails along with exceptional service (Brett) made our evening one to remember. I love a well made Old Fashioned and I wasn't disappointed. The secret ingredient of the quarter branch apple brandy took it to next level. We are looking forward to our next date night already!”

A Hidden Gem in Old Town Alexandria!

Alice Cocktail Bar exceeded every expectation and delivered an absolutely phenomenal dining and cocktail experience from start to finish.

The cocktails were outstanding. I started with the Alice, a beautifully crafted blend of Roku Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Lychee Liqueur, Butterfly Pea, Yuzu, and Egg White. It was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. I also enjoyed the Gold Rush, made with Four Roses Bourbon, Cointreau, Honey, Yuzu, and Egg White—a smooth, flavorful cocktail that quickly became a favorite.

My partner ordered the Beach House and the Flamingo, both of which were exceptional. The Beach House combined Espolon Blanco, Banhez Mezcal, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Aperol, and Lime for a tropical burst of flavor. The Flamingo was equally delicious and was served in an adorable tiki glass that added a fun touch to the experience.

For appetizers, we ordered the Crab Rangoon and the Grilled Pork Sticky Rice. Let me just say—both were A1 delicious. The pork was perfectly marinated and grilled, and paired wonderfully with the sticky rice and chili garlic lime sauce.

For our entrées, we had the Crab Fried Rice and the Phuket Seafood. Both dishes were absolutely incredible. The Phuket Seafood, loaded with mixed seafood, onions, scallions, bell peppers, young peppercorns, sweet basil, carrots, and roasted chili sauce, was bursting with flavor. Chef’s kiss! The Crab Fried Rice was equally impressive. In my book, both dishes are award-winning.

What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our waitresses were attentive, knowledgeable, and spot-on with their recommendations throughout the evening. Their hospitality made an already fantastic experience even better.

Overall, Alice Cocktail Bar earns an easy A++. Amazing drinks, outstanding food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. I cannot wait to return.

“We had a fantastic dinner at Thompson Italian. There were four of us, and we shared a bottle of wine and a fresh, flavorful panzanella to start. I ordered the squid ink bucatini, and it was absolutely delicious. We also tried a couple of desserts, and every bite was excellent.

We arrived around 4:15 p.m., not realizing they didn’t open until 4:30, and we didn’t have a reservation. Around 4:20, a staff member noticed us waiting outside and kindly invited us in to wait, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The service throughout the meal was outstanding, and our waiter was wonderful.

Everything from the food to the hospitality was exceptional. I’ll definitely be back”

“A few of us came in for a business meeting on a weekday and while there we decided to grab breakfast as well as coffee. This is one of the newer style of McDonald’s with kiosks only to order from in the dining room, which I can’t stand. But the system worked well and the ordering process was efficient. The dining room was very clean and looked newly renovated. The restroom was really clean as well.

The food and coffees came out pretty quickly, it was fresh, piping hot, and looked great – just like it’s supposed to look. This was easily one of the best McDonald’s meals I’ve had in the US since I used to work there back in the 80’s, back when they were a decent fast food place. The hash brown was tasty and hot too. But I really liked the flavor, assembly, and freshness of the Egg McMuffin!

I came in with very low expectations, as it’s a McDonald’s and left with my expectations totally exceeded! I just hope the management here is able to keep this level of quality and service through all times of the day and do it everyday! Consistency is one of McDonald’s weak points and a reason I haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s in the US in a few years.”

“I have been a McDonald's customer from coast to coast for about 65 years. This is one of my favorite stores. However, they recently installed a self-order/pay machine which I thought slowed things down. They also serve you at your table which I though a good thing.”

“Some of the best Ethiopian food that I have had, and I am a Chef and have frequented many Ethiopian restaurants in DC as well.
I ordered the veggie combo and each dish was layered with the perfect amount of spice, heat and salt. The injera was light and fluffy with the familiar tang of a good fermentation. I also ordered a glass of Tej (honey wine) expecting a store bought bottle but was pleasantly surprised with a house made 6 month old wine that was slightly effervescent with a balanced sweetness that went perfectly with the food.
I told the server how great the food was and the Chef personally came out to thank me and talk to me about how she prepares the food and even answered questions I had about how to prepare there Shiro wot(which was excellent) and where to buy the spices for it. Both the Chef and the server were kind and treated me so warmly I felt like family.
If you are in the mood for authentic Ethiopian food, please give this place a try, I promise that you will be pleasantly surprised!”

“Old Hat Bar recently, and without any notice, hosted an impromptu group of about 20 friends celebrating the life of our dear friend laid to rest at Arlington that day. Not only did you welcome us in but you asked about our friend in the most genuine way. One waitress asked us to tell her a story about our friend, the owner took our picture then asked some of us how we met our friend. We all talked about how awesome the experience was the next day. I understand now why it was so popular and I look forward to trying more from the menu in the future. They had a lot of great options and accommodations for almost anyone such as sorbet. Really cute area and if you go across the street and down a little there’s more seating to sit and eat your delicious treat outside. There’s also a cute little garden spot directly across the street too with a few seats and a spot for a treat for your dog in the mail box. I would 100% recommend this spot but expect it to be busy.”

“Got the breakfast plate (forgot the name already, sorry) with biscuit, eggs, meat choice (I got thick cut bacon) and 2 hash browns. Damn was that good. I normally don't love thick cut bacon so thick that it's chewy, but it was like pork belly consistency, and damn good. Hash browns were nice and crispy and golden brown, eggs were cooked perfectly, biscuit was delicious with some of their honey butter and blueberry preserves. And the cashier/server who took our order, she was great and super helpful. (Sorry I didn't get a name, I'm doing great on memory today lol) Will definitely be stopping by again here soon.”

While we waited 3 other couples came in and were turned away as they did not have reservations… one couple was told to come after 45min. Then when we entered at 9pm the place was half empty with many free tables 🤷🏻‍♀ I guess they don't need clients and felt bad for couples who were told to leave despite being half empty…”

Where it could use improvement is having the staff trained to be more friendly and customer service oriented. Though the cafe was not busy, the staff was not friendly. Fixing this one piece would help the cafe continue to shine.

We had the Linguine Cacio de Pepe with Chicken, Mafalde & Sausage, garlic bread and the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. “Our server Jayla was awesome! She was very friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. weather was gorgeous outside and the outdoor patio was well covered, but we decided to sit inside. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. Jayla asked if it was our first time at Blackwall Hitch, which it was, so she went over the local favorites. She recommended the flaming crab dip and it was delicious!!! Jayla offered us extra Naan chips which I thought was generous for an upscale restaurant. I asked if she could bring us extra with a to-go box to take the rest of the dip. We also had the mahi mahi tacos and chicken-pancetta flatbread - both were great. Jayla often checked on us. “This past weekend, my wife and I went to the Andy’s Pizza in Alexandria, VA. It was our third time there, so I now feel confident in leaving a review.

In my opinion, pizza in the DC area started getting good when Pizzeria Paradiso opened. You could also get a good—but very different style-slice at an Italian shop in Cleveland Park, across from the Uptown.

We’re in a new era, and Andy’s is a big part of it. Service is fast, the crust is (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) maybe my favorite part, and ratio of sauce and cheese is perfect. This has been our experience all three times at this location.

“Went last night for the soft opening and was very impressed from start to finish. The bartender, Chi, was personable and very attentive and we enjoyed various foods that were all top notch and some nice wine. Other staff who are coming and going were also very nice and you would never have known it was their first night. I worked in various aspects of the restaurant business for 15 years and have been to various soft openings, and these guys did a fantastic job. The owner Jay came by and chatted with us to make sure everything was going well and you can tell he really cares about everything. Pak Soii is a very welcome addition to Del Ray Alexandria and I can't wait to go back.”
