“I was very impressed with Brabo. The drinks were very good and the food was excellent. The service was off the charts though! Exceptional service. This was for a wedding rehearsal dinner and they were very accommodating but just seemed to be naturally good at this type of event. Well done!“

“Pleasant bakery and pastry shop. While the pastries are tasty, the bread is outstanding - and reasonably priced. Welcoming staff.
Numerous items (including the bread) are not available at opening time, so I recommend waiting at least half hour after posted hours.“

“We had the Rehearsal Dinner for our son and his soon-to-be bride at Bastille Brasserie & Bar and it was well beyond our high expectations!!! The staff and service was exceptional (and friendly), the food was as good if not better than that from highly ranked Michelin restaurants, and the atmosphere and facility were perfect for a gathering of 50 or so people!! We can't thank Juan and the Chefs (a wonderful married couple) enough for such a fantastic event!!! The range of delicious selections kept not only our traditional American side of the family pleased but also some of the highly discriminating French relatives. We highly recommend the Bastille Brasserie for not just an evening dinner out but also for your special events such as Rehearsal Dinners, Receptions, Family Gatherings, Wedding Parties, etc“

“I had the most wonderful dining experience at La Fromagerie! Everything was delicious and the service was great! I began with champagne and foie gras. Next, I had the bouillabaisse; then, cheese course (a double or triple cream). I finished the meal with a chocolate pot de crème. I can’t wait until my next visit!“

“I went for brunch, which is only open on weekends. I wanted to try the other branch in The Wharf, but this branch had just opened, so I came here. I ordered a menu that recreated Paris Brest like a bagel and wine. The menu idea was unique and the taste wasn't that great, but the plating was pretty and I had a satisfying meal, so I think I'll go again. However, the price is a bit on the high side, but I think it's worth the price because the interior and atmosphere are beautiful!“

“We had a great celebration of our friend's birthday here. The food was great, we all were happy with what we ordered. The most special thing was the service though. Special thanks to our waiter Mouhssine for being so attentive to us! He made this day special for us! We will definitely be back to celebrate next birthdays with friends. One of the best services in DC for sure!“

“Superlative tasting menu, top notch wine parings, outstanding service, from a staff that outnumbers the clientele, what’s not to like? Yes it’s small, so leave the soccer team meetup for the pizza place. For Lutece, bring your favorite couple or 1 or 2 very special friends“

“Best French restaurant in DC. The prix fixe menu is innovative, delicious, copious, and fairly priced. We went to celebrate a birthday and the chef really made it special. The attention to detail is wonderful and the food is majestic. Best bouillabaisse outside Marseille. 10/10 recommend and will be back, merci!“

“Everything was delicious. We ordered the French onion soup, Coq au Vin, Steak Frites, and Croque Madame, and everyone loved their meals. The flavors were well-balanced, smooth, traditional French classics. We thoroughly enjoyed the al fresco patio dining as well. Dave took excellent care of us and gave very helpful recommendations and opinions. A memorable experience and meal!“

“Fanatic happy hour for a lazy Sunday.
The ? ? so sweet man!
My husband loves the chicken sandwiches.
We only had house rose and beer. But the lovely lady told me that during happy hour 50% off for the bottom wine on the menu under USD100. ( not the house wine)
We had a great experience and definitely will go back with friends!“

“For years, I was an absolute fan of Le Diplomate. It reminded me of the charm of old Europe—Paris, Vienna—something I missed after moving to the U.S. The atmosphere was always inviting, the restaurant beautiful, and the food consistently good. As a bread lover, I was particularly fond of their bread basket. I often asked for a second round because I could never get enough of this delicious treat, made in countless ways over thousands of years.
A couple of weeks ago, my friends recommended a new French restaurant, Amélie. We decided to try it one evening, and what a treat it was! While the ambiance isn’t as old-world European as Le Diplomate, the modern vibe was refreshing. The open kitchen, with the crew moving around preparing dishes, added an exciting touch. But what I truly must highlight here is the food. Every single dish was bursting with flavor, expertly prepared, and utterly mouthwatering.
I was genuinely surprised to find that the food at Amélie surpassed even Le Diplomate and Pastis DC, which I had visited just a few weeks earlier. All four of us—who had visited both Le Diplomate and Pastis together—agreed that Amélie was the winner! The two desserts we shared were also fantastic, and the receipt presented to us in an old French book (ours was a classic Diderot) was a charming and thoughtful detail.
Amélie is now absolutely my go-to spot for exceptional French food, fantastic service, and a fun, lively atmosphere.“

“Dinner at Pastis was good, but I won’t try the duck confit again. This is was my second visit to Pastis. The onion soup and calamari were very good. My friend’s steak frites were excellent. The crème brûlée was great. But I feel sorry for the poor duck that gave up its life for the duck confit I was served. Duck confit if supposed to be rich in flavor with meat that falls off the bone at the slightest touch. This was a tough duck leg that resisted most of my efforts to cut off a few bites of meat. It was not good. Oh, well.“

“Catching up with old friends and it was a wonderful setting. Comfy booth, not too loud, we could really talk. Food was delicious. The only thing that was a little off putting was that they were out of things on the wine list-one white was completely not available and second choice only had one bottle left. At least our server was honest with us. This was a Thursday night. Hopefully, a shipment was arriving the next day.“

“The garden café at the National Gallery of Art offers a beautiful and serene environment, allowing the perfect break for a visit to the museum. However, the food was less satisfying in its portion size. I had a quiche, which was really nice, but honestly, compared to the price, it was really, really tiny. It is served with a mountain of salad but doesn't taste good at all, which was kind of a letdown. My brother took the daily soup and enjoyed it, but it was quite small. The food, all in all, was a 3/5, good taste but portions too small for the price. At least the iced tea was refreshing, and the personnel are overly friendly; that brightens things up a bit. If you fancy a light snack in a nice environment, have a go at this café, although don't expect big portions.
Vegetarian options: There are lots of salads“

“My two kids and I go here almost ever Sunday. The croissants are a huge hit with the kids and I'm obsessed with their Farro Salad (the dressing is very similar to mole sauce). Lattes are quite delicious as well.
Pricing is surprisingly reasonable for Georgetown which is a nice plus.
I really wish they would open a location at the Village Green in Crofton, MD. It would be a huge hit there and I have family that would like to see it there.
Some weekends it just gets too busy but I've only decided to give up once or twice. The host is honest about the wait (if there is one) - up to you if can handle the wait they give you.
Kid-friendliness: They have a great kids menu and offerings BUT we tend to just pick pastries from the counter. This is the better way to go because it is about all they can eat and there is always some decadent morsel for me to hoover up when they get full.“

“Wow … what a great place for a lovely dinner. My husband and I shared three of the small cassoulets (beef, shrimp and the pork skewers for $55) which were all delicious and there was plenty of food. We also received fabulous assistance from our waitress to select two beautiful glasses of French red wines which were perfect with our meals. I would highly recommend this bar for a great dinner experience.“

“Unforgettable Dining Experience at Bresca: A Culinary Journey of East Meets Words can't fully express how much I enjoyed dining at Bresca. From the moment you walk in, you're enveloped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels both like a cozy neighborhood bistro and a place of refined elegance. The decor, with its green moss walls and charming goldfish decorations, is fun, creative, bright, and relaxing. The service was exceptional. Our sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful, recommending a Reserva Rioja that paired perfectly with our dry-aged duck and wagyu beef. Our server, Matt, provided impeccable service. Despite our group of eight, all plates were cleared at once, and all dishes were served simultaneously. When one guest went to the bathroom, Matt held the plates to keep them warm and served them upon their return. What I loved most was Chef Ryan Ratino’s creativity in transforming humble dishes by combining the best of Eastern and Western culinary traditions to elevate classic French cuisine. My favorite dish of the night was the Potato Pierogi. The snap pea and ricotta filling was velvety, with the snap pea perfectly reflecting Chef Ryan’s passion for seasonal ingredients. The whole plate sang of summer. The Diver Scallop dish was another standout, with the crunch of hazelnuts and the umami brought out by Japanese ingredients such as kombu and shiso. If no one had been watching, I could have picked up the plate and licked every drop of the sauce—it was that good! At the end of the day, food brings people together. I dined here with a group of businessmen from Taiwan for the Select USA summit, and we were all thrilled with our choice. Everyone agreed it was one of the best meals they had ever had in the USA. Thank you, Chef Ryan, Manager Tobias Froehlich, and Matt, for making this an unforgettable experience. Bresca is truly a place where memories are made.“

The only downside if there were one (and it's a very tiny downside.) You may have to use the stairs if there is no available downstairs seating“
