The pastries and, cakes, muffins and croissants are excellent. Their homemade jams are wonderful. Their breads, quite yummy! I love their iced coffee , which has s a very subtle taste of cocoa. And, I am a very picky coffee snob. Service is sometimes a little chaotic, but the staff is super friendly. Weekend mornings are insanely busy- a reflection of how good they are. “I thoroughly enjoyed Dining at Bistro Du Jour! The greeter (Ian) was welcoming and friendly and our server (Dave) was equally as personable and attentive. The menu selection was extensive. I enjoyed the mussels, cheese platter and the Tuna Niçoise salad. The ambiance of the restaurant was conducive for our conversing while dining! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food and ambiance and plan to return again in the future!“

Service was very friendly.

Food:
Food was excellent. Escargot was great. Not as heavy as it normally is at other places. Very soft texture. Steak frites came with a green peppercorn (au poirve) sauce. Ordered medium rare (French medium rare so a bit more blue). Excellent cook on it. Well seasoned, high quality steak. Sauce was great and fries were crispy. I added the chocolate marnier mousse ($12). It was great. Smooth texture, rich, but not heavy chocolate. Honestly they hit this out of the park for me.

Definitely on the Norman/Parisan side of French bistro cuisine, which I love.

I did have their restaurant week menu for lunch which is similar to their normal lunch menu. I added on the chocolate mousse.

Price:
Food was also excellent. About the same price (a bit cheaper) compared to other French restaurants in the same neighborhood (there are 2 others).

“Unreal experience. Chef Sebastian is in a league of his own. Some standouts weee the foie gras, lobster entree, truffle Brie, and baguette with butter (the last was simple yet perfect). But truly every dish we tried was outstanding. For cocktails, we had the last word & tequila bouquet, all great. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Will definitely visit again, either for date night, special occasion, or just for a happening dinner spot.

Most of the customers were much better dressed and without a child. Nothing wrong with this, just painting the picture. The staff could not have been nicer and more professional. We were greeted with open arms, sat immediately, and served with absolute professionalism. My food (the fish) was so good I considered licking the plate. They don’t necessarily have a kid’s menu but offered numerous things to make a toddler. I went with the burger and fries. They complimented this with numerous dipping sauces and made the burger to order. The charge was minimal and fair. I always clean up after him as toddlers can be messy and they insisted on letting them clean up (I did it anyway). Restrooms were spotless and the kitchen area you pass was very clean and well organized. It’s a small spot full of big talent. This will be a regular for us. A must dine.“

The Garden Café at the National Gallery of Art is a convenient and pleasant place to eat during a museum visit. It is located on the lower level of the museum, right behind the north entrance, which makes it easy to find when you’re ready for a break. The café offers a fair selection of food, including tacos, salads, and flatbread pizzas, with most entrées priced around $15–20. Our group tried the BBQ taco set, a salad, and two flatbread pizzas. The tacos and pizzas were a big hit and very enjoyable, while the salad itself was fine but the dressing was not really to our liking. Seating is spread across two rooms, mostly with four-person tables, so it works well for small groups or families. One room features a calming water element in the center, while the other is simply a nice, quiet dining space. The ordering process is easy—you order and pay first, then the staff brings the food directly to your table. The staff members were very friendly, and the food came out quickly, which was great when we wanted to get back to exploring the museum. Overall, the Garden Café is a solid dining option with good food, pleasant seating, and helpful service.“

“Grace is one of the best hosts/guest service technicians I have ever had the experience of being served by. She was consistently attentive with the perfect balance of space for the guest and attentiveness. The food was cooked as desired, however the branzino was definitely the best entree on the table, alongside the duck confit and specialty steak. The chicken + liver charcuterie was to die for IMPO and I consider myself to be very bougie about my cheese. Delicious food, wonderful service. I was indecisive about wine choices and Grace was particularly helpful with that process. We loved the drinks and the whole experience.“

I really enjoyed all the courses. The beef was so tender and flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed the dessert as well. The only downside was that we had been walking all day through the city and my phone had died. I was hoping they might be able to let me charge my phone briefly so we could get home but they were unable to do allow that.“
