18 Best Craft Breweries near Alexandria

Port City Brewing Company Brewery • $
3950 Wheeler Ave, Alexandria

“What a beer lovers place to go. Lots of parking across the street. I've seen their beers in many beer and wine stores and Optimal Wit is probably the most recognizable. For folks that like pilsners like me, there are so many to choose from and really enjoyed their downright Pilsner and their American pale ale, essential pale ale. Nice to see breweries still make these that are not all IPA's. Their outdoor seating is huge with smaller indoor and bar seating and in the back where the beer tanks are even more seating and also where you can reserve tables for bigger parties. They don't serve food but have food trucks where you can order food. Lots of TV's to watch sports. For the kids they have two arcades (like Donkey Kong, Pac man, Galaga) that are free to use.“

Other Half Brewing Washington DC Brewery • $$
1401 Okie St NE, Washington - 8.28 miles

“I was in DC for a couple of days and after a day of sightseeing, was ready to chill and grab some beers. I'm a huge craft beer fan and saw that Other Half's DC location was pretty close to where I was staying. I've had quite a few of their beers and also been to their brewery in Brooklyn, which was boss. This location was equally good. I ended up getting four beers, two NEIPA's, which were both really good and fresh and also two barrel aged beers, one was great, the other not so much. Service was on point and the guy behind the bar was very friendly and accommodating. It is a large space with outdoor seating and there was a quiz going on while I was there. You can also buy beer to take away too.“

Aslin Beer Company Brewery • $$
1740 14th St NW, Washington - 7.58 miles

“Have always loved Aslin, was stoked to be able to finally try it from the source while visiting DC. The beer did not disappoint. The staff did not give the welcoming vibe that I’m used to at breweries, I ordered two half pours and the bartender gave me grief about showing two ids for the two beers, never had that happen before and beyond that they generally did not give off a very hospitable or friendly vibe. Amazing beer though.“

“Saw a recommendation in the nudge that this place had yummy hot chocolate (optional to get it spiked) so came for a date night! It’s so much bigger inside than I expected. I’ve been by here so many times. So glad we came! My only complaint is that is was SO loud (on a Tuesday night) from bingo in the back room that it was difficult to carry a conversation, however the overall vibe of this place is amazing! Love seeing queer bars in the city. Oh, and the hot chocolate was delicious!“

Lost Generation Brewing Company Brewery •
327 S St NE, Washington - 7.91 miles

“Lost Generation is such a gem in the NE area. I walk past this brewery on the MBT all the time but this was my first time visiting. The staff were absolutely amazing, both friendly and helpful in explaining the beer options. I truly enjoyed hearing the owner's story of starting the brewery. It was great to hear about this family run business. Lost Generation had a great selection of beers especially IPAs, which are my favorite. They do not have food but they have rotating food trucks every week. You can also get a brewery tour here. The space is nice and open, and family friendly. I look forward to stopping in more on my MBT walks.“

Crooked Run Fermentation Brewery •
550 Morse St NE Suite #120, Washington - 7.54 miles

“Great brewery with a variety of types of beer, including the amazing purple, U-Bae sour which tastes less like a sour and more like a ube cake. Sticky Rice sour was also great w mango, rice milk, and coconut. Both of these beers were SO unique! Loved the 16% valor barelywine. Another unique item for a brewery. Charm milk stout was good - similar to other milk stouts I've had.Atmosphere is super super cute (and industrial) with events almost daily. However, note, their actual happy hour special is 2 beers and slice of pizza for $12 until 6PM. The website says it is $2 off draft beer after 8PM.“

They have an amazing happy hour (beer and 2 slices for less than $15), a lively ambiance, and a long list of beers on tap. They have delicious Napolean style pizza and super flavorful wings (Old Bay Seasoning). Despite being a sports bar, they had high chairs and didn't mind me having my toddler.
