“We had a fantastic dinner at Thompson Italian. There were four of us, and we shared a bottle of wine and a fresh, flavorful panzanella to start. I ordered the squid ink bucatini, and it was absolutely delicious. We also tried a couple of desserts, and every bite was excellent.

We arrived around 4:15 p.m., not realizing they didn’t open until 4:30, and we didn’t have a reservation. Around 4:20, a staff member noticed us waiting outside and kindly invited us in to wait, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The service throughout the meal was outstanding, and our waiter was wonderful.

Everything from the food to the hospitality was exceptional. I’ll definitely be back“

“As part of the US Army, I was sustained in Italy many years ago. I have struggled until now to find quality, amazing tasting Italian food. Mamma's Kitchen in Alexandria surpassed all expectations. Every course of the meal was just what you would expect when dining in Italy. Thanks for the great experience and for the memories it brought back.“

“I ordered a special dish that was not in the menu and I was surprised to experience a restaurant that will cater to what I want to eat. The squid alla marinara pasta sautéed perfectly blended with the right spices and herbs. I tasted basil and it was minty and really satisfied my appetite. Thank you for the extra freshly made bread, salad with the special house sauce + the tiramisu for the dessert. This is my second time to visit this restaurant and I will surely come back the next time we are in the neighborhood. Grazie!!!“

“I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Vaughn, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. From the moment we were seated, Vaughn went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. He was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely cared about making our meal enjoyable. This was our first time at The Farmhouse and Vaughn deserves recognition for making our visit memorable. I would absolutely recommend asking for him if you want top-notch service. “This was by far the highlight of any meal we had on a 6 day trip to Alexandria/D.C. The free bus (30/31) stops right across the street and only took 15 minutes from the metro. We had the Linguine Cacio de Pepe with Chicken, Mafalde & Sausage, garlic bread and the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. “WOW! Extraordinary service. Mina went above and beyond by preparing a meal of pizza, salad, garlic knots and desserts for my group of 150. She responded to all my emails and calls promptly and confirmed that the order would be delivered on time for our group dinner. She arrived right at 6:30pm with a delicious hot meal just as we asked. As a special surprise, she put together 2 really tasty trays of desserts and a large pan of garlic knots...and this was unexpected but offered by her. That's the type of service Mina delivers...on time, hot, with a smile and a genuinely friendly heart. “I have dined at this restaurant numerous times since April 2024. They have greeted me at the door and have made me feel like I was a real VIP customer. The food has always been delicious , my favorite is the Tuscan Chicken. The bar menu up stairs- Martini's are absolutely fabulous. I look for this to be my hangout meeting spots for business. I appreciate the warm welcoming feeling I get when I visit.“

“I felt compelled to review this Paisano’s because not only does my whole family enjoy the pizza, every time I go in here I have a pleasant interaction with the staff. I actually enjoy going to pick up food here after a long day at work. A lot of the staff, especially in the summer, are young, but you can see they are being taught well and learning good customer service from the veterans. My wife and I are both from NJ and have strong preferences about pizza that unfortunately our Virginia-raised kids do not share (one of them said her favorite pizza is from the school cafeteria!). Paisano’s is the one local pizza place that we all enjoy. I only wish the pies were bigger!“

“New Mosaic location just opened and it’s great. The pizza is fantastic, actually cooked with some nice crisp and char like the northern pizza snob in me likes. I also had a chicken parm sub that was fantastic. Haven’t tried the cold subs yet but there’s always tomorrow hah. The location is great on the bend of District Ave looking out down the street and they smartly installed a retractable front wall that can be opened for open air on nice days/evenings (or if Covid decides to play some more games here in the future). Also some select patio seating which is nice as well!“

“Vasos is consistently one of our go-to dinner spots in Old Town Alexandria. The food is excellent, service is friendly and efficient and it is reasonably priced. Our favorites include the Filet of Flounder, Vasos Shrimp, Chicken Parmigiana and the Penne alla Vodka. We have also enjoyed all the appetizers.“

“Big fan of Ledo Pizza since moving back to the East Coast. No Ledo in AZ! Any other time pizza would get 5⭐️review. This time there were big black flakes on my bottom crust. Dirty oven? Kinda off putting. For the rest of my pizza life I will now check the bottom crust for blackened splotches.“
