The Dairy Godmother Reviews
One of the best ice cream shops I’ve been to in a long time, I was pleasantly surprised to find homemade custard. Some of the best donuts in NOVA, as well as wonderful custard with rotating flavors of the day. Great vegan options, a variety of customizable orders, and excellent pup cups as well.
Options are limited, but it’s good. I got vanilla ice cream with marshmallow sauce and a snickerdoodle cookie.

The Dairy Godmother is a popular neighborhood spot in Alexandria, known for its naturally flavored frozen custard and sorbets with daily changing flavors. The menu offers vegetarian options like frozen custard and sorbet. The friendly staff serves delicious food with an airy texture, though some customers have noticed a decline in cleanliness standards. Despite this, the Dairy Godmother remains a beloved local favorite, with many customers frequenting the spot for over 15 years. The shop features a variety of sorbets, three different custard flavors daily, bakery items, and a charming "dairy godmother" decoration, making it a gathering place for the community to enjoy time with family and friends. Customers can savor their treats in the shop, on the benches outside, or while exploring the nearby Mount Vernon Avenue strip and admiring the dog murals across the street.
