The liver and onions were cooked to my liking. I did not like that the rice was mushy and the greens lacked flavor. Friendly staff, I'd try again to raise the rating.

My husband I were in town for a work training conference and he wanted to surprise me with some good soul food...and he found Ms. Addie's restaurant during his search.....and when I say those oxtails were well worth the drive (almost an hour) away from Omni Hotel....

We had Addie’s Love’s Soul Food cater our Thanksgiving corporate lunch, and it was amazing! Our staff loved the food. The team at Addie’s was incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and knowledgeable, offering great guidance on what would work best for our lunch. They were also very accommodating and adaptable to our staff’s dietary restrictions.

Opened in 2019 inside a small strip mall, Addie Loves Soul is a tiny soul good restaurant near the D.C.-Maryland border in Ward 7. A friend and I stopped by for lunch around 12:15pm on a Tuesday. Here's our experience.

1) Food: Since we wanted to try a few things, we ordered two platters- the fried whiting with two sides and the turkey leg with two sides. For dessert, we got the peach cobbler with whipped cream. Most every dish was well seasoned and full of flavor, but the winners were the turkey leg, fried whiting, mac and cheese, and yams.

2) Drinks: They sell iced tea, lemonade, and juice as well as sodas and bottled water. I enjoyed the lemonade.

3) Service: It's attentive and helpful. With two other customers inside eating, our food came out in ten minutes. Staff frequently checked in on us, including the cooks asking us about the food.

4) Space: It's small with a single booth and a few small tables in the back. Most pick up food for takeout. There's a restroom in the back. The entire place is homey and clean.

5) Area: There's a small parking lot out front. It's near the D.C.-Maryland border so there's an old boundary stone nearby.

As a first-time visitor, I ordered the fish and grits breakfast and the lemon cake. The wait time was reasonable, which is expected since the food is cooked to order. The presentation in the carryout container was appealing and set high expectations. However, the grits had too much sodium, resulting in an aftertaste- I couldn't eat it. This significantly impacted my rating, which is a 3 out of 5. Despite this, everything else—including the fish and lemon cake—was delicious and well-prepared.

Everything I ordered was delicious and tasted like your grandma cooked it! I meant the owner who was onsite and was kind enough to give me a tour of the Cafe. I will be returning. As Mrs. Addie opens her lounge area, this will be an amazing place to dine. Everyone treated me like family. Healthy portions was greatly appreciated and worth the price. Please give Addie's a try.

The food was good but a half steak and cheese and a ice tea should cost $15. It was good though
