Great food, tasteful and delicious. The carpaccio de pulpo was really good, as well as the crocetas. Gumbas in garlic was delicious. The paella's could have been better seasoned...
What an experience!! The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. I can't believe I've visited DC as often as I have and only just found this place. Thank you for delivering absolute perfection
All of the tapas and wine were amazing. The paella was mid. Service was decent. However the restaurant has a big white box that looks awful sitting directly behind our table. A coat of paint and a mirror or some pictures would definitely make this better. It's shouldn't be a second thought.
Truly superb food - we love their food! Service is always VERY efficient, with little or no engagement or "personality", so can seem a bit "off-putting" at times. Staff are consummate professionals, for sure! We love to go on Fri or Sat evening as they tend to have live music. Last night no exception. Gorgeous Flamenco guitar and other instruments, but singing WAY WAY WAY too loud for the space!! Disappointing, for sure, as would have loved to "linger" over an after dinner drink, but couldn't even hear each other talk...and neither of us have any hearing issues. Can't imagine how hard it would have been had I taken a parent. ? Again, great food for sure, so we'll be back. Now that we know to ask, and depending on what type of musician they have that night, we'll ask to sit either nearby or outside...
Don't pass by this stalwart gem just because it's been around a while. Service is warm and on point, menu is broad, and everything was prepared to perfection. We went with the tasting menu - a wonderfully bright cold tomato bisque, tart sautéed octopus slices thin, scallops over creamy rice, sliced beefsteak with seared peppers and white potatoes, and a warm french toast pastry served ala mode (I added sautéed wild mushrooms and roasted broccolini on the side). We dined and enjoyed a very cozy ambience, but the al fresco folks were having a wonderful time as well. All this was a few steps from the White House in the heart of the Capitol. Will be back every time I get the chance.
The most authentic fine Spanish food and ambience in the US. If you spent time in Madrid you will know what I mean. One of the few excellent DC restaurants open for business after Covid.
By far, the Best Spanish Restaurant in the area. Great friendly and professional service where teamwork is key for a outstanding dining experience. Flavor profiles where right on point, from Appetizers, entrees and desserts. We'll come back and absolutely recommend everyone to visit.
Great food and service in a very attractive setting. The wine recommendations were spot on and perfect with the too many tapas plates we ordered. It was all so good and we can't wait for our next visit.
The staff continuously ignored my food allergy stated on my reservation, and after verbally been told and continued to bring those dishes to my table. I felt disrespected at that point. :(
I notified the restaurant that it was our 25th anniversary before arriving and requested a 'nice' table. when we got there they brought us to probably the best table in the place - and it was covered with rose petals, then they brought us a glass of cava, and after dinner pastries- all complimentary. the service could not have been better and warmer - made our evening very special. Most of the food - from tpas to a full entree - were very good, although the mixto paella was a little disappointing. The restaurant has a great, authentic spanish vibe, and a commanding feel - thought i was back in Spain.

We had a great dinner at Taberna del Alabardero in DC this past weekend. It was our first time there. They have a good menu, including a great selection of tapas and paellas, and an expansive wine selection, mostly from Spain. We decided to order about 5-6 tapas instead of entrees. to try different flavors and dishes. Service was very good until the dinner rush, then things slowed a bit. We only saw two waiters working the entire dining room. Regardless, we had a great experience and will probably visit again.
What a wonderful experience eating here for my partner's birthday! The decor is lovely, the service is wonderful, and the food is absolutely delicious! We will definitely return.
Lovely people! Wonderful hosts and support staff. Very warm and professional. The food is to die for on all levels. We sat among interesting people who graciously chatted with us, making the overall atmosphere very congenial and comfortable. We highly recommend! Ensure you reserve a table in advance, though. It's popular! Cheers!
The food was delicious. Absolutely gourmet. Thankfully, the flamingo dancer and accompanists were outside on the sidewalk or they would've been a distraction to dinner conversation. The restaurant week menu versus the regular menu was confusing and the waiter not especially helpful with navigation. The final bill of $500 for 5 people was overpriced (one drink each and 3 desserts.)
We had a great experience. Delicious food and beautifully decorated table with special treats to help us celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant.
