Albi (Arabic for 'my heart') is one of the most high-octane dining experiences in D.C. The air smells of wood smoke and sumac, and the energy is kinetic. While it’s a Michelin-starred destination, it manages to feel like a lively, loud Arabic household where hospitality is the primary language.
• The 'Sofra' Experience: While the à la carte menu is great, the 'Sofra' is the specialist move. It’s a spontaneous, multi-course journey through the kitchen’s best seasonal plays. It’s a lot of food, so come hungry and ready for a family-style feast.
• The Hearth Table Secret: For the ultimate insider experience, book the Hearth Table. It’s a front-row seat to the literal fire. You sit steps away from the wood-burning hearth that anchors the kitchen. It’s an immersive, chef-curated look at the craft that most diners only see from across the room.
• Signature Orders: The Mushroom Hummus with 'pita balloons' (the fluffiest, steam-filled bread you'll ever see) is mandatory. Follow it with the Barbecue Lamb or the Sfeeha (meat pies). For dessert, the Brown Butter Knafeh with yogurt ice cream is a marvel of salt, sweet, and texture.

We visited Albi on December 30th, and it was the perfect way to cap off the year. This Middle Eastern restaurant delivered the best meal we’ve ever had. Even surpassing our experiences abroad. The food was exciting, the service was impeccable, especially thanks to Eric, who made our experience truly special. The atmosphere was gorgeous—one of the most beautiful dining spots we’ve been to. We’ll definitely return and explore more. Highly recommended!

After a long wait, I finally secured a reservation at Albi DC, and I was genuinely excited to try it given all the awards and glowing reviews. The restaurant itself has a warm, modern atmosphere that makes a great first impression.
I opted for the chef’s tasting menu, which consisted of five courses and was a generous amount of food. Albi also offers an extensive wine list and cocktail menu. I chose the wine pairing, which included four different wines from the West Bank and Lebanon—an interesting and well-curated selection. I also tried several types of arak, which were intense, bold, and quite impressive.
Unfortunately, the food itself was a major letdown. From start to finish, the dishes were overwhelmingly salty and lacked distinct or memorable flavors. To make matters worse, the service fell short. The staff did not do a good job explaining the dishes or guiding how they should be enjoyed, and I felt they were too busy to provide proper attention.
Overall, the experience was mixed and did not live up to the hype surrounding the restaurant.

We arrived right at opening and were able to get seats at the bar without a reservation. Our server was friendly and provided great customer service throughout the meal. We ordered a la carte; the food and cocktails were outstanding. We ended the night with the Knafeh, which is easily one of the best desserts in the DC area.

Albi lives up to the hype. The food was life changing. Atmosphere was intimate but still lively. Every detail was perfect, down to having comfortable toilet paper in the bathroom (a luxury not many provide if you can believe it) and the most amazing smelling candles made specially for the restaurant.
But the best part about Albi is 10000% the service. Our waiter Benjamin was so kind, knowledgeable, and polite. He struck the perfect balance of being both formal but warm and friendly. And our server Jose was one of the favorite parts of our visit. We loved hearing about how long he’s been working at the restaurant, his favorite dishes there, and how happy he was for us to be experiencing it. He talked to us about the owners philosophy of wanting customers to enjoy their visit, how the menu changes, and just kept reiterating how great it is to be enjoying life and our meal to the fullest. Helps the guilt of the hefty, but worthy, bill. We’d come back just to see him again. He’s a gem of a server.
Every great thing I’ve heard about Albi was warranted. Truly a superb dining experience. The perfect place to experience something elevated, but yet comforting.

Phenomenal experience at the bar. The bartender let me know I ordered too much, but I really wanted to try it all. The lamb grape leaves, crab hummus and zataar pita were stand outs for me. Wine offering was well positioned for a variety of taste preferences. Cocktail (mezcal last word) generation was crafted beautifully. Food and wine were 6/5. Service 5/5. Atmosphere 5/5 bathrooms and curtains were the winners of the design choices. I will return and I look forward to my next visit.

This was my fourth time at Albi, and somehow it still managed to surprise me — again. Very few restaurants can pull that off, and even fewer do it consistently.
What makes Albi special isn’t just how good the food is, but how thoughtful it feels. Every dish carries a purity and respect for its Palestinian roots, executed with intention rather than trend. Nothing feels forced, overworked, or performative — it’s food that knows exactly what it is and where it comes from.
The crab hummus remains one of my absolute favorites. It’s rich, balanced, and quietly luxurious without losing the soul of the dish. And the fresh pita bread deserves its own moment — warm, pillowy, and honestly a delicacy in itself. You could build an entire experience around that pita alone and no one would complain.
The menu always keeps you on your toes. Even on repeat visits, the food feels like a discovery — familiar enough to comfort you, yet surprising enough to excite you. The cocktails are equally strong: thoughtful, well-balanced, and consistently excellent.
I’m posting a picture of an empty plate because there was truly nothing worth leaving behind. No scraps. No hesitation. Nothing to throw away. Every bite mattered.
Albi isn’t just a great restaurant — it’s an experience that somehow keeps getting better every time I return. And I already know it won’t be my last.

It was a delight to experience the softeh tasting menu. The whole experience was outstanding. Something truly special is happening on that kitchen. Best meal I’ve had in 2025 and I had just come from my favorite US city to eat New Orleans so that’s saying a lot! Will certainly refuel next time I’m in town

The first half of the evening was tremendous. In particular the snacks - lamb meat pie, smoke beef, and sunchokes - started us fantasticly. The delight continued with the Khubz with the smoked duck awarma on hummus and the labne tabat along with the best version of a pita I've ever had. But then a shockingly long delay before the next and last course as it turned out to of the Manti lamb and eggplant dumplings which came across as rather salty unlike everything else to that point. The server warned us we were ordering on the very light side, but we were all quite full with what we got with our A la carte order and drinks - cocktails and cocktails were very good as well.

Got the chefs course meal. At first, thought it might be a Michelin meme restaurant as the first thing that was handed out were four olives and 2 pieces of cauliflower, but boy was I wrong.
We were extremely full by the last two courses. Service was extremely attentive, ambiance was very lovely. Like the entrance area, very cozy and is nice that one can order drinks (great if waiting for other party members).
Can easily see why Albi has 3 stars at this point--one of the best meals I've ever had.
I love that the kitchen is open and in the middle of the restaurant

Albi is, without exaggeration, one of the finest meals I’ve had in Washington, DC — and honestly, anywhere. From the moment you walk in, everything is dialed in: the atmosphere is vibrant, elevated, and effortlessly cool; the music, lighting, and overall vibe strike that perfect balance between stylish and inviting.
The food is extraordinary — thoughtful, bold, beautifully executed, and deeply flavorful. Every course felt intentional, exciting, and worthy of slowing down for. It’s the kind of menu that makes you stop mid-bite and look at your table like, are you tasting this too?
The beverage program is equally exceptional. Every pairing and recommendation felt curated with real purpose, and the cocktails and wines were stunning complements to the meal.
And the service? Truly world-class. Attentive, polished, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed without ever feeling intrusive. You feel taken care of in a way that only the very best restaurants know how to do.
This is Michelin-star dining in every possible sense — not just for the food, but for the complete experience. The star is 100% deserved. Albi isn’t just a great restaurant; it’s a destination. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will absolutely be back
