Cowboy Carter party was not a cowboy Carter party đ played like three BeyoncĂ© songs and even had a cover(most dc stuff doesnât have a cover!) if you advertise an event as something, at least stick to the theme!
My friends and I were in town this weekend and stopped by for the first time. The staff were helpful and friendly, the DJ was amazing, and the drinks were great. I will certainly be back next time Iâm in DC, hopefully to try to food as well.

I want to share an extremely disappointing and discriminatory experience I had at As You Are Bar in DC.
As a Black patron in what was clearly a predominantly white space, I was singled out, outcasted, and ultimately removed â unfairly and without proper cause. I came in a good mood, greeted people with warmth, shared consensual hugs, and was enjoying myself peacefully.
Suddenly, I was approached and told I was being âtoo touchyâ and in a âprivate area,â despite others (white patrons) doing similar things without reprimand. I had not touched anyone without clear consent. In fact, I even warned another guest (possibly a woman or trans person) that someone appeared to be looking up her skirt â and somehow I ended up removed.
The way I was treated felt targeted, racially biased, and humiliating. Staff and patrons seemed to gang up and make me feel like I didnât belong. For a space that claims to be âinclusive,â this was anything but.
To Black and Brown folks â especially LGBTQ+ â please be aware. These spaces are not always as welcoming or safe as they claim to be
This is the worst bar I've ever seen in DC and I've seen a lot all types and have enjoyed myself at these other places, I think the name of the bar speaks for itself with how big of a joke it is in regards to how they treat people, like complete garbage. Word to the person in charge your door person on Saturday nights is going to shut down your business. Stay far away, complete disgrace like the other reviews have noted.

Gluten free bread is an option! So I got the tuna sandwich and it was So Good. Downstairs feels like a comfy dim coffeehouse vibe and upstairs transforms into whatever it needs to be. The day I went there were multiple panels for Lavender Con and later a drag show.

One of the most fun bars Iâve been to in a long time! First floor is open table seating and serves food. We did not eat while we were there though. Music was fantastic, drinks were appropriately priced and had a good spirit to mixer ratio.
I recommend this bar to anyone who wants to go out for a night and wants a non-discriminating place to experience.
