I often bring my pup along, and they're always ready with a treat for her! They serve delicious crepes, but I end up getting the Turkey Melt again and again. Very friendly staff make it a delight to stop by for something quick or to spend an afternoon on the patio out front, relaxing and people-watching with a coffee.

I noticed the manager smelled of alcohol which I consider disrespectful and the food is swimming in grease and they are incredibly slow

I came across Au Lait DC while I was in DC this weekend, and it ended up being one of the best breakfast stops I’ve had in a long time. I walked in around 8:30 AM and immediately liked the setup. It’s a clean, well-designed boutique café with a solid atmosphere.
As a coffee drinker, the Illy coffee stood out right away, and the staff was welcoming and efficient. What really impressed me was the food quality. They use fresh eggs, which is rare these days when most places rely on liquid eggs.
Everything tasted fresh and well made. Bigger restaurants often miss this level of quality, but Au Lait delivers. This place is now on my regular list when I’m in DC.

Salim’s coffee shop has become one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. The coffee is consistently great, the food is genuinely good (not an afterthought), and the space itself is warm and comfortable in a way that makes you want to linger.
What really makes the place stand out, though, is the care behind it. You can tell it’s run by someone who pays attention to details and takes responsibility for what he puts out into the community. Everything feels thoughtfully done, from the menu to the atmosphere.

I honestly feel lucky to have a business like this so close by—and to have a conscientious, hardworking owner like Salim as part of the neighborhood. It’s the kind of place that quietly raises the bar for everything around it.

We went to the cafe with my family. It has nice and cozy atmosphere with relaxing music, and has big selection of food and drinks. I enjoy their cappuccino and kids loved the hot chocolate. Next time we want to try the breakfast. If you are looking for a place to relax, this is the place. Highly recommend.

I’m confused by this place’s high ratings. My friend and I didn’t have the food, so maybe that’s it. The atmosphere was also wonderful. The chai latte and hot chocolate we had, however, were quite poor. I don’t like leaving negative reviews and never have before on Google, but the drinks were really not worthy of the current level of stars…

Was in D.C. for family event and we were looking for a Good Breakfast place near Dupont Circle, we found a GREAT one. Not only was the attention and customer service excellent but the food was mouthwatering and inviting. It was so good we came back the next day, tip; try the Corn Bread, Delicious. Will definitely come back on our next visit.

Good coffee and a good breakfast in the morning, good music, good attitude from the employee; without a doubt one of the best options for breakfast.

They were one of the few places open on Thanksgiving, make for my group a delicious meal. Great quality coffee and nice attention. They offered a big menu items to choose from, so far we came almost every week to enjoy. If you are near DuPont support them by visiting and consuming in here.
