Basic Americana food (burgers sandwiches and spaghetti —think Applebees fare)…they got us in and out within half an hour, so that was excellent! I’d go back :)

Service was excellent.... Option for buffet or à la carte... I ordered from the buffet both mornings, and loved it... server was very attentive... overall value for food quality was good.... Would definitely go there again.

The woman at the reception of Avenue Grill does not honor reservations. She told us that "if there is a long queue, she will allow people with reservations to get a table". Isn't the whole point of making a reservation that you don't need to rely on someone "allowing" you to get a table? This happened in two days. On the 2nd, I actually needed to have breakfast with a colleague at 8 am sharp but this person refused to honor my reservation and we ended up waiting in line. She claimed sge was "under pressure". Since her behavior was the same every day, it seems more a problem with her than the situation. Pathetic. The serving staff are good, which is why I did not give this place a one star for service. I would not recommend the Avenue Grill unless you have no other claims on your time.

Menu was small and disappointing for such a big hotel. Very limited options and food overall wasn't amazing. My salad had partially frozen things in it. Seats were uncomfortable and it seemed dated in there. It was a business meeting and usually hotel restaurants are pretty great. I'll skip it next time I'm there.

This place is literally awful. The decor has Denny's from 1991 vibing with middle America food court that's been given an attempt at upscale. We kept getting told the buffet the buffet but at $27, we had a hard time justifying. After being sat at a table with the most grumpy host I've ever experienced, we were told again about the buffet. We were poured some coffee, which tasted of 2 day old burnt ashy tray, we then started to second guess this decision. I then learned the coffee I was poured without asking for, was $5, which is such a pet peeve of mine. Don't give me something that isn't free then charge me for it. This place shouldn't be open, let alone at a JW. Btw it's worth noting our server was sweet, and I did tip her well for the forced coffee.

Understaffed. Waitress didn't check on our table even though she walked pass us several times , had to ask busboy for water, For being a 4 star hotel the food isn't anything to write home about. No tips from me.

Lots of great food. The buffet eggs were kind of runny. The omelet station is really great!

We ate breakfast here throughout our stay. They offer a reasonably priced buffet with an omelette station or you can order off the menu. Hosts & waitresses were very friendly, service was good. Would return next time we are in town.

Outstanding

Service was good, food was ordinary hotel food. The restaurant decor and atmosphere was typical of a hotel "place to eat." It was fine for the purpose of a timely and efficient breakfast.

We enjoyed our breakfasts at Avenue Grill while staying at JW Marriott. The staff were all very friendly and we really liked the omelette bar! I wish there were a few more pastry options but otherwise it was quite good!

Fluffy omelette with fresh veggies. I subtracted peppers and added bacon to the loaded omelette on the menu. Sourdough bread was a bit dry, even with some butter. I did appreciate the choice of 2% or whole milk. Overall, a nice breakfast in a quiet spot to watch Pennsylvania Avenue.

My husband and I had lunch at Avenue Grill before going to The National Theater on Easter Sunday. We had an 11:30 reservation and got in a short line at 11:25. There was only one hostess and she didn't start seating until 11:40. It took several minutes to seat each party, for some reason. Not sure why because the restaurant is not that big. While we were waiting in line, a couple came up and went straight to the front of the line and stated that they had a reservation. The hostess took them in right away. I loudly said "we have a reservation as well and we have been waiting already for 20 minutes!" The hostess said, "OK, I'll seat these people and be right back." Wrong response! This hostess did not know what she was doing. There was a family of 4 in front of us and they were next. They were told that they did not need a reservation when they had called. The hostess came back and told us she would seat us now. I told her to go ahead and seat the family because they had been waiting and were actually next. I told the family, to go ahead because it didn't seem to matter whether you had a reservation or not. When the hostess came back to seat us, she apologized and said that no one was communicating with her. Not sure what that meant or that it mattered. SHE was the one that was not doing a good job. She seemed flustered and unorganized. Why wouldn't she ask first if anyone had a reservation? Why did it take so long to seat each party? You can't always teach people common sense, but the JW Marriott could definitely have better staff training! As for the meal, it was average. The wait staff was good and friendly, which was the only good thing about our lunch here. We will not be going back.
