Our waitress was very nice and friendly. the food was amazing and would 100% come back here again. The Banh Canh and the Gaeng Crab soup curry were some of the best we have ever had. The Laotian pork jerky was incredible.

We had tried to get a reservation for a while. We needed up sitting at the bar instead of the table by the front window. Bartender was very engaging and helpful. We definitely felt attended to. Helpful with food and drink suggestions. Friendly inviting atmosphere. Food was expertly prepared and delicious. Drinks perfect and was the type of drink I requested. Fun night all around. This was a perfect meal. I've been on the look out for a real leaf salad and while it wasn't on the restaurant week menu, there was a mixup with our order and we got one comped. Since Thailand I have yet to find a comparable tea leaf salad and this tasted so authentic. The Penang curry was perfect! You have to check this place out. Service was great!

Unfortunately our food was not great this time. We had to send back two dishes because they were not fresh and/or overly sweetened. Disappointing but the staff were very gracious about it!

Food was excellent. Service was disappointing - made a reservation for 2 and when we arrived right at 5pm opening we were told that we could only sit at the bar or a high top. There were plenty of open tables available and even with a reservation, we were not permitted to sit at one of the tables. It was very confusing. Overall the food overcame the poor introduction to the restaurant.

Crazy good. Will in particular was knowledgable, friendly, and projected an abundance of pride for Baan Mae. We couldn't have been happier. Get the crab curry, the onion salad w/ nuts and herbs, and the skewers for sure!

Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon because Baan Mae had been rated in a recent Washington Post top 20 list. It was incredible. Started with the Koi Goong Dang that I could've easily eaten my weight in. Delicate and spicy shrimp dish that was lovely. My main was the Thom Kehm pork ribs that were delicately delicious. My companion who is a vegetarian had the tofu Pad See Eaw which also got rave reviews. The quality and finesse of the food at that price point is phenomenal in DC where often quantity and environmental hype supplant quality and creativity. I'll be back soon.

Was our first time visiting the restaurant. We had a 6:30 reservation but weren't able to be seated until 6:45 due to the table before us going slightly over (don't blame the restaurant for this, though - they did give us a free order of dumplings to make up for it and we appreciated that very much!) It's very authentic Thai/Laos food so if this isn't your thing then you won't like the place. They were out of the beverage I ordered as well as the large plate I attempted to get. We thought the food was meh but again, maybe it just wasn't our thing. Service was kind but a tad slow. I probably won't be back, but recognize there are certainly pros/cons to the place. A tad overrated, IMO.

We have been to Baan Mae two times. Both were fantastic - the food is absolutely amazing. 5 stars for sure. The staff is wonderful, knowlegable, responsive, friendly and accomodating. It is simply a perfect experience. ENJOY!
