I love Bandit — it’s been my favorite taco spot in the DMV since I started coming in 2018. I did remove one star this time because I’ve noticed that the tacos have become noticeably smaller this year. I used to order three Baja fish tacos, but now I find myself ordering five just to get the same amount. The tortillas are smaller and protein portions are the most noticeable reduced.

I’m a long-time and reliable customer, and I understand COGs and operating expenses, so I get why adjustments sometimes need to be made. It just feels a little discouraging to pay the same price for noticeably smaller portion sizes.

That said, the food is still great and consistently prepared — I really do love this place. I just wanted to share this as something I’ve been noticing.

This is my go-to takeout spot. Their bowls are generously portioned and the meats are fresh and seasoned well. The sauces explode with flavor. Yuca fries are a great accompaniment. I would recommend the bowls over their burritos, which I find a bit too thick.

Came in close to closing, staff had already started packing up and weren’t overly happy to see us, which, I get — it was late. We were served, my friend wasn’t allowed to use the restroom, but other than that good vibes and a great location. The food was really good!

I’d read so many glowing reviews about Bandit Taco’s breakfast burrito that I had to try it. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment from start to finish.

First off, the breakfast burrito isn’t listed anywhere in the store. When I asked the staff, they just nodded—no explanation, no details. I had to pull up their online menu on my phone to figure it out myself.

When ordering, I asked to try both sauces on the side and even offered to pay extra, but was told I could only pick one. I went with the chipotle sauce, which turned out to be more like a slightly flavored mayo than anything close to salsa. I’m used to a proper salsa with burritos (breakfast or otherwise), so this was confusing and disappointing. Granted, they did say “sauce” and not “salsa,” but mayo wasn’t what I was expecting.

The burrito itself was just… sad. The cheese was freezing cold, which threw off the entire flavor and texture. The potatoes were lukewarm, the eggs were the only component with any real heat (and even that was just “okay”), and none of it was seasoned—not even basic salt and pepper. I get that maybe the sauce is supposed to carry the flavor, but a little seasoning would have gone a long way.

I only managed a few bites before giving up. Having lived in SoCal for a while, I know a good breakfast burrito, and this was honestly one of the worst I’ve had. East Coast breakfast burritos strike again.

I briefly considered coming back to try their lunch or dinner options, but the lack of helpfulness from the staff sealed the deal for me.

I took my team from our martial arts school out here to lunch and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a big order and everything came out perfectly delicious. Shout out to Oscar who made our team lunch outing a great experience.

The steak and egg tacos were amazing. I'm not sure what they put in the sauce but I can't wait to go back and try some of their other options.

Food is a bit more pricey than Chipotle but the flavors are amazing and the portions are great! I’m a huge fan of the camarones and their steak - I wish this was closer to Logan Circle but that’s probably better for my waistline lolol - always a good treat and a favorite

We ordered it and two people’s orders were all piled in the same styrofoam box. We thought we were missing one person’s order. By the time we found the Korean Taco EVERYBODY’S food was cold. Unpleasant experience. DoorDash should not promote them. 😡 Ruined our dinner.

I come here every week for a fish burrito…this is the only place in DC I’ve found that actually offers fish in a burrito. As a pescatarian, finding good Mexican food can be frustrating, but Bandit Taco makes sure everyone’s dietary needs and preferences are covered, from allergies to restrictions. The staff is fantastic, the service is efficient, and honestly, I’m so hungry I’m ordering another burrito as I write this.
