Cute setting and staff were super friendly and helpful. I thought the food was pretty good and seemed like a good list of drinks. Prices were reasonable for the neighborhood. Restaurant was a little too noisy for me, but most places are these days. Would go back, maybe when a little less crowded.
Bar Japonais is always a vibe... this is me and my lady spot... always good service and always a good time... Food always good. Nothing negative to say about this place.
A solid choice for happy hour, Bar Japonais has a selection of wines, beers and cocktails under $10 as well as single servings of hand rolls, poke, and other starters on the HH menu. Perfect for a post-work drink with friends!
Super attentive team, quick service, an all-round great experience. Will definitely be back to try their regular menu.

I've been to dinner here twice and it is one of the best dining experiences I've enjoyed in D.C. Highly recommend for anyone for anything. Your birthday, a date night, and just time to catch up with friends—this restaurant is suited for it all.
We went to the restaurant for happy hour and really enjoyed the steak and chicken skewers, along with the cucumber and seaweed salad. There was an event happening, so it was a bit noisy, but overall we had a great time.
The place was pretty nice, and the service was good. However, the food was mediocre at best. The Japanese Curry had very little chicken in it, and the flavor was pretty average. There were next to no vegetarian options when it would have been pretty easy to add at least one tofu dish. Vegetable roll and miso soup were good but it's hard to get those wrong.

Cool place for light fare and clever cocktails.
Great for dates. Especially first dates where you want to seem wealthy and worldly.

Staff is great. Food is very good, but the portions are small. Drinks are mostly good. We want to go back, at least to try the omakase

Very inventive and delicious meal. Cocktails were amazing. Only downside was the lighting- it was just a little too dark- I saw people reading their menus with their phone flashlights.

Booked for a full buy out for a party - Margaux was so great to work with, super responsive and accommodating, went above and beyond. I was not able to be onsite so missed out on the experience but would recommend and use again!

The service is phenomenal but the food was not very good. The entrees we ordered —the cod and noodles- were not any spectacular (kind of gross, soggy, and not flavor-rich). The sushi is pretty good.
It's really a nice experience having Alex here! He is professional, and carefully keeps our house clean!
I came in after work, first time here. The bartender( he looked like a manager) Arturo made me a la poire sage. A pear drink. So delicious, great cocktail. He was so personable and made for a nice end to my night. I will definitely be back for food.

Excellent restaurant. The vibes were great and the food was better. We ordered an assortment of food at a reasonable price for the amazing quality. The sushi was incredible and the miso foam cod was so delicious it changed how we thought cod could taste
