Went here for brunch. The food was so good! Got the honey butter chicken biscuit and that honey butter was delicious. Also did the brunch fried rice which was good and well seasoned. The bottomless deal is good where it is $28 per person and they leave a champagne bottle and juice at the table so you can make your own. Service was great as well as they were super attentive.

Barrel is an awesome Capitol Hill spot! Huge whiskey selection, creative cocktails, and tasty Southern-style comfort food. Loved the fried chicken biscuit at brunch and the lively but laid-back vibe. Friendly staff and fair prices — definitely worth a visit.

Great vibe, great selection of bourbon whisky and DC beers. On the pricy side, but the barman was really interested in his whisky and helpful in making selections.

Stay away from this place -- unless you love whiskey (or whisky), good pub food, tiptop bar staff, and a nice relaxed vibe. Pretty sure you'd hate the joint if you don't tick a few of the boxes above 😎

The wings tasted like the chicken was old or stale. But the restaurant itself was very welcoming. The server was also kind and welcoming. They had this lime and ginger beer drink that was not so good.

This food is always great! The best is the chicken and waffles. Try the cinnamon rolls too.

Brunch was great! Got the French toast and it was huge! Bottomless service is great too. They give you the bottle plus two juices and a seasonal syrup and you can make your drink to your liking! Awesome experience!

If you love bourbon, this is the place to go!! I only drink bourbon and there were so many choices and I finally got found a Little Book that I've been wanting to try, I was the first person to try the bottle. If I lived in DC. I would go there again. The bartender was amazing and made my visit an experience.

Large, tasty wings, nice whiskey collection, and customizable flights. Friendly staff. My only gripe is how dark it is inside, even at 5:00p in the evening.

A Capitol Hill stop for locals. It’s a good bar with a lot of TVs and a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails. I’ve gotten the kids meal combo a few times — a shot and a beer with a toy — which is always fun. It’s a big bar so there’s usually room. The food is pretty good too. Classic bar bites.

We hosted a private whiskey tasting at barrel this past weekend to celebrate a birthday and it was a phenomenal experience. Matt was so easy to work with in planning a great experience from start to finish - securing a date, planning the slate of whiskeys to taste, bringing in some special bottles for us to sample and helping with private dinner in the basement to follow. The downstairs bar has a great vibe and is super private. Matt also is super knowledgeable and started the tasting with an overview on how whiskey is made, the difference between bourbon, rye, whiskey and scotch and reviewing the specific bottles we sampled. Great option for a small private party to celebrate a special occasion!
A great whiskey/bourbon spot—ask to see The Book! Plus their Shakespeare in the Pub nights and themed events in Bottom of the Barrel are SO fun.
