Happy hour deal is okay. Not the greatest. Beware if you have a nut allergy: EVERYTHING IS FRIED IN PEANUT OIL

Went and had dinner with a colleague, the noise level was tolerable 90% of the way through but once it got closer to 7 o’clock, it did get loud. The service was great. The food was great.

Back in November I visited Barrel Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and while the food itself was genuinely delicious, the overall experience was pretty disappointing due to the service.
One of my friends had kindly arranged a birthday brunch for me there, and we were hoping for a bit of a special touch since it was a celebration. When I mentioned it was my birthday and inquired if they did anything special, they flatly told me they don’t do that. I tried to negotiate or at least see if there was any flexibility, and the manager’s response was quite rude and dismissive. They basically told me that my persistence was making them less inclined to do anything at all.
Overall, while I really enjoyed the food, the attitude and lack of consideration from the staff left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t recommend Barrel Restaurant if you’re looking for a place that values customer service or special occasions.

This experience was great! While the food was below my expectations, our server was Connor and his aura made our experience that much better. He was very polite, professional and simply a great spirit to have during your dining experience. He suggested that we come back during a Sunday brunch and looking at the brunch menu I will definitely give it a try- the food looks amazingly delicious.

Went here for brunch. The food was so good! Got the honey butter chicken biscuit and that honey butter was delicious. Also did the brunch fried rice which was good and well seasoned. The bottomless deal is good where it is $28 per person and they leave a champagne bottle and juice at the table so you can make your own. Service was great as well as they were super attentive.

Barrel is an awesome Capitol Hill spot! Huge whiskey selection, creative cocktails, and tasty Southern-style comfort food. Loved the fried chicken biscuit at brunch and the lively but laid-back vibe. Friendly staff and fair prices — definitely worth a visit.

Great vibe, great selection of bourbon whisky and DC beers. On the pricy side, but the barman was really interested in his whisky and helpful in making selections.

Stay away from this place -- unless you love whiskey (or whisky), good pub food, tiptop bar staff, and a nice relaxed vibe. Pretty sure you'd hate the joint if you don't tick a few of the boxes above 😎

The wings tasted like the chicken was old or stale. But the restaurant itself was very welcoming. The server was also kind and welcoming. They had this lime and ginger beer drink that was not so good.
