My dad and I stopped by and purchased drinks, planning to sit and enjoy the space. We were told to put our outside food away, which is completely fair. After we immediately complied, the staff member continued in a condescending tone, “this is a restaurant…” as if we were intentionally doing something wrong. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and honestly embarrassing.
What’s frustrating is there are plenty of people constantly on their laptops taking up the tables for hours without scrutiny. We were also paying customers but it felt like we were singled out rather than treated with the same grace others seemed to receive.

A lovely space all hours of the day. I’ve been before for dinner and made it there this morning to do some work and breakfast.
The upstairs feels like a cozy chateau, the fireplace blazing and plentiful seating options. People are sharing tables, putting coats on the rack, chatting, and typing away.
I sat near an outlet and wifi was quick and easy to log on to. Latte and bagel were fabulous and they brought both to my table.
I can’t wait for it to get warmer so I can use their outdoor space once again!

This is a cool place - good luck finding a table though at lunch because of all the teleworkers, the food is good (had the falafel wrap) but the staff are generally just rude or at least the gentleman that scolded me for brining up my empty plate and not putting in the right spot. Super weird, honestly.

i really wanted to like my lox bagel, it was recommended to me but it was really not good at all. bagel and cucumbers was soggy, lox was not fresh to the point I had to take it out, the onions were pickled but in the sweeter side. just overall not great:/

This is such a cozy cafe. Great for evening studying upstairs by the fireplace or a quick breakfast. The staff are incredible.

Worst chicken sandwich I’ve ever had and I spent 19 dollars on it. Staff has attitude. Worst cafe I’ve ever been to and I go to a new cafe everyday so pls take my recommendation . Do not come here :)

I’m not sure if we came on a day that they just didn’t feel like putting on the heat? But the doors and windows were open like it was 75° outside when it was really a crisp 25, so this threw me off a little bit. The cappuccino I ordered was cold upon getting it, which probably had something to do with the fact that it felt like a refrigerator in there. It was good coffee though.

We went to Big Bear Cafe for our morning coffee during the days we stayed in the DC area and the coffee was absolutely delicious.
The place had a charm to it with spacious ambience on a brick building and tables & chairs outdoors.
Baristas seemed to be passionate coffee lovers, making sure they served the best coffee.
Thank you to the employee who followed us very quickly to handover my wife's phone that she had left at the cafe which shows they truly care for their customers!!

Try sitting outside around the heater with your favorite people and furry friends and sip warm delicious latte! We had amazing time at Big bear cafe. Spinach&artichoke pizza was delicious, right out of the oven and each of us got mocha latte, brown sugar oat milk latte and white chocolate mint oat milk latte and everyone was happy with the taste of coffee! Warm, creamy and yummy! We sat outside around the heater with our dog, the atmosphere is relaxing and cozy even outside the building, and warm from the heat from the heater.
Also, they only have freshly baked pastry everyday and do not keep their pastries for the next day. We visited 2hrs before the closing time and hanged out for a while and were given some free pastries nicely packed in a paper bag to try. I tried the muffin and it was good that I wanted to check other menus like sandwich etc. The service was amazing, friendly and polite staff, I pressed no tip (I wanted to press custom tip) accidentally and as we ordered extra drink later, my mom ran inside to tell my dad to make sure he leaves some tip, and I felt so sorry after hearing he left only $4 of cash he had in his wallet. (There is no tip culture in Korea.. so my parents are not really familiar with tip)Next time, we will make sure we leave some tip appropriate to the quality of time and service we had from this place! Thank you and good night!
Ps.the big bear painting on the wall is so cute 😊 and the ivy on the wall is beautiful!

I swung by this little cafe last weekend and honestly, it was a nice change of pace. The coffee was decent, not the strongest I’ve had but smooth and easy to drink. I also tried one of their pastries, and it was fresh and flaky—definitely worth it. The place has a cozy vibe with plenty of natural light and a few comfy chairs, which made it easy to just sit and relax for a bit. The staff were friendly, nothing over the top, but you could tell they cared. Overall, a solid spot if you’re looking for a quiet morning coffee or a casual afternoon break.

They charge a service fee, don’t tell you about it, then ask for a tip. I ordered $40 from their menu and was charged $56. Makes overpriced food a little more overpriced. Food was good, but it sat on the counter as the employees talked to each other. Had to go up and tell them and grab it myself. Didn’t get silverware, napkins, or a lemon with calamari. Disappointing because it looks so fun and inviting.

Great neighborhood coffee shop that is often busy. I love their fried chicken sandwich and fries.
