Some of the most delicious food in DC. As a vegan they had so many incredible options that you can’t always find at regular Indian restaurants. The dosa with potato filling and idly were incredible and the server was so quick to provide her recommendation for her favorite vegan curry. My friend was gluten free too and we had so many options to enjoy - it was a feast! All vegans in the area need to run over here right away! Veganesha is the best

I came here with high expectations of the food, based on the reviews and the atmosphere. I'll start with the positive - the samosas are the best I've had anywhere in DC.Unfortunately, the masala dosa was incredibly mid. Decent portion, but bland filling and the dosa batter was not crispy. Also, they don't serve chai - first Desi restaurant I've been to that doesn't serve chai!I would come back just for the samosas - and if they started serving chai.
Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian, with vegan, and Jain friendly options.

Had the Malabar curry - so good!
Excellent vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan options as well. The food is super tasty and flavorful. The protein plant is interesting texture though. Definitely isn't for everyone. The gobi Manchurian was fire though! Dosa we're solid but not anything out of this world..overall definitely recommend checking this place out.

Restaurantji Recommends
Don't be fooled by the very casual ambience at Veganesha. It looks like a fast food place but the cuisine is FANTASTIC! I honestly think it is the best Indian food in DC. The reason for this is because the food is so perfectly seasoned, and all the elements of each dish are clearly discernible because they are not disguised with tons of extra, oil, butter, cream etc. A lot of Indian places in DC overload the food with cream, oil , butter etc. to make up for poor quality. This is the exact opposite at Veganesha, everything is fresh, balanced and delicious. Try the chana masala, it has roasted coconut in it! The prices are very reasonable and best of all the Dosa are thin, delicate and crispy!!!
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

I used to live in South India and miss the food, but this place brought it back! Highly recommend the uttapam and I thought the vada was great. I think the idli needed to steam longer but everything else was
