Chicken cordon Blue was dry. NY strip steak was tough on the edges. Soup & escargots were perfect, as was the dessert and coffee. Service was very good, but had to remind them it was a birthday.

Over the years food quality went down. This wasn't French food, rather American sandwich shop. Servers were fantastic.

Lovely experience and the food was very good. We loved the calamari but found the bouillabaisse a bit too tomato-ey and the lobster in the bouillabaisse was a bit too tough.

We hadn't dined at Bistro Cacao for several years. We are already looking forward to our return. Chef did an excellent job in accommodating a food sensitivity for one of us. Service was impeccable—a special shoutout to Cesar. Don't miss the house made pate de campagne—it's the best we've tasted in many years.

Delightful place and amazing food! Beet soup was terrific and my Beef Wellington was cooked perfectly.

Fantastic time celebrating birthdays with friends. Menu seems augmented since my last dinner there a couple of months ago. Our choices (filet mignon, beef bourguignon , surf and turf special of steak and shrimp) were delightful. New appetizers we shared were so tasty: calamari on a slice of pineapple and a lemony "hot" shrimp - exquisite. I'd definitely order again. My dessert was the profiterole, now a single large one instead of the flight of 3. But the large profiterole included a bed of chocolate shavings and a hot dark chocolate sauce poured over it at table. Service attentive, good-natured, helpful. Nice to see a healthy crowd during the shutdown but that makes for somewhat harder conversation. THANKS for a superb evening!

I really like Bistro Cacao. I got about once a year for business lunches. I love the friendliness and professionalism of the waitstaff, I think the food is very high quality and delicious. I highly recommend a visit.

This is not an easy place to review though overall I five rhem 5 stars. Great ambiance, lovely upstairs dining room. Romantic with chandeliers. Service was very good. Prices were not cheap but par for the course. The food howrver was average. Definitely french but nothing spectacular. The escargot where ok but nothing special. Same for the other items. The special was Beef Wellington which is an English dish. It was above average. as was the vichisoise. If you ask for coffee and looking for a classic french press, no good. Only italian expresso american coffee. Bottom line, lovely restaurant that could serve better quality grench food. Go for ambiance of upstairs dining rooms.

Classic romantic French bistro fits me perfectly every time! Brooke was knowledgeable about wine pairings and even suggested a brandy to accompany our crème brûlée.

Delicious!!! Best French soup I have had in a long time. The atmosphere and food complemented each other. Our server Elif provided an amazing service. Will be back soon

Delicious food, amazing old fashioned. The risotto with the lamb was to die for. Will return next time we're in DC

Bistro Cacao has been a favorite special occasion restaurant for us for at least a decade. Leaving an evening event last week, we made last minute reservations. Though the upstairs waa closed the downstairs dining room was more than enough. I enjoyed the amazing beef bourgeoisie and my hubby had the chicken cordon Bleu. That waa after we shared the amazing burratta salad. We were too full for dessert. As always, we had a fabulous time. I'll always love Bistro Cacao. 😍

The food was mostly delicious. The steak frites were not as good as expected, the meat was not soft and needed more taste. But the 3-course meal for $35 is a good deal. The French coffee was not good, but it depends if you like the grand marnier.

What a great place for brunch. We did the 3 courses with bottomless mimosas deal. Everything was perfect.
