3 employees we’re working the day I walked in. #1 was working diligently at the espresso machine, #2 was taking orders from the customers ahead of me, #3 was playing a video game on a portable game console while sitting behind the counter. #3 continued to play while customers were waiting and only looked up when a line formed then proceeded to roll his eyes when he realized he might have to help. #1 continued making drinks while #2 decided something on her phone was more important and paused to check it out. I walked out without ordering as I felt I was just bothering them. Edit….well, it’s been a year and I thought I’d give it another shot. I’ll say the customer service was much improved…I was greeted promptly and with a smile. I had an Americano and it was very good. I’m not sure if it was a change in culture or this particular day (11/12/25), but I must give credit when it is due.

Blank Street Coffee on M St NW is hands down one of the best coffee spots in DC. The staff here is always so helpful, friendly, and on point — even when there’s a long line, they move through it quickly without ever losing their great energy. Their customer service is immaculate and their communication is top tier. If any adjustments need to be made, they handle it with no hesitation and always with a smile.
The coffee is consistently amazing — you can tell they take their time to make every cup right. This has become my go-to pitstop before work, and honestly, even on my rough days, the team here lifts my spirits up. Big shoutout to Mint, Anu, Zu, and Karen — y’all make every morning better.
