I love this spot, hands down best poke in the city. Workers are always super friendly and helpful. The food is always amazing. On sundays they serve doughnuts, such a good treat!

i hate to leave bad reviews but this was such a bad experience that i feel compelled to leave this review. we placed an order on ubereats for 2 chicken katsus with mac salad and broccoli salad. order was accepted and we proceeded to wait for 20 mins. when my delivery driver arrived at the food hall, he called me and transferred me to a worker at blowfish who told me that no sides were available except for the fries. i decided to sub the fries for one of the chicken katsu meals and forego any sides for the other katsu meal. when we got our order, i was so disappointed because the katsu (which became the ONLY thing to eat for our entire combo meal) was PAPER thin. it is literally all breading. so i basically paid $50 to eat fried breading dipped in sweet sauce with rice.

not only is it wholly unacceptable that they did not bother to inform me the sides were out when i first placed my order, i cannot believe they would actually sell a katsu like this for that high of a price. i regret not listening to the negative reviews. please learn from my mistake & think twice before ordering. never again

I was in the area and wanted some lunch before heading home and this poke restaurant was close by. I was unaware the restaurant was in a mini food court and there were multiple other restaurants there. I choose a 2 scoop bowl for $17. I wish there were spicy tuna and spicy salmon options. And I'm not used to crab salad being considered a protein, more like a topping. The bowl I put together was quite delicious and filled with purple rice, salmon, seaweed salad, corn, and cucumber. The sauce selection was great. I wish wasabi aoili was available. There also a 25cent fee for sauce to go. I also tried spam masubi for the time. It was really good but unfortunately did not come with any type of dipping sauce. Luckily, I had some at home. The service was great, I may return again.

Food is decent, but customer service is terrible. I’ve given them two chances. We walked up to order as a staff member was washing dishes, which is perfectly fine, but makes eye contact with us and still gives zero acknowledgment. He proceeds to wash several items as we stand there, obviously waiting to order. Finally, he finishes the dishes and starts to put on gloves. As he puts on gloves, someone cuts us and says, “Lemme get an order of fries.” Knowing that we were clearly waiting first-awkwardly at that-he goes ahead and puts her order in first. No sense of customer service or etiquette.

Now it’s our turn to order: My partner orders first, and as I ordered right after, he scrapes two tiny pieces of salmon (supposed to be a full scoop) from the bottom of the tin. I asked if he could compensate by giving me a little more tuna since the salmon was clearly gone.

“I can’t,” he responds.
“Dude, really?”
*Blank stares and ignores me*
“You just scraped the bottom of the tin to get two tiny pieces of salmon.”
“I’m pretty sure it was a scoop.”
“That’s honestly ridiculous.”
*Stares at me again*
“Fine, whatever.”

I paid. Didn’t tip (I almost always tip on fast casual, AND my partner had already tipped him). I won’t be back. There are several poke spots nearby that are better. This place won’t last with service like that.

You have major problems with quality, consistency and portion control. I have ordered from there via Uber Eats many times, and more times than not, there is a problem with the food that is delivered. You consistently leave out ingredients or send a small bowl when a large bowl is ordered. This is mostly the case if the order doesn't get canceled stating that you can fulfill the order ... you all do that a lot. There needs to be a 2nd set of eyes on every delivery order that leaves that store. If the Rhode Island Ave store can't perform at a professional level, then you need to make some very drastic changes or shut it down. This is not rocket science, stop being a disappointment to your customers.

This bowl in this picture was supposed to be a large, but there are missing ingredients and the serving is a small.

Perfectly mediocre food. Flavorless. Go somewhere else.

I’ve driven by so many times and decided to stop today. Kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. It’s delicious!!!

Out of salmon and donuts, whole place seemed kinda sad tbh.

Blowfish Poke & Grill is a hidden gem in Rhode Island Ave DC! The poke bowls here are absolutely fresh and flavorful, with generous portions of high-quality ingredients. I loved being able to customize my bowl with a variety of toppings, and the staff was super friendly and helpful in guiding me through the options.

The Hawaiian-inspired vibes in the space are warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your meal. Bonus points for their grilled options—perfect for when you want something warm to pair with your poke.

Highly recommend if you’re craving fresh, delicious Hawaiian cuisine! I’ll definitely be back. 🌺🍚🐟

If you like your food with no seasoning at all, this is the place! You don't need to worry about your salt intake here as there is none. You like your fries under done? Here you can have that!
The husband got the chicken katsu, and it was so bland, the sauce tasted like apple sauce. He took it back to get a refund because it was so disappointing and even though he brought back the entire meal, they said they didn't do refunds. First place where they refuse to give us our money back when all the food is still there.
Oh well.
