Was there for the holiday tea. It's a beautiful setting. The tea and food selections were very good, but it seemed like the food had been prepared too early in the day so some of it didn't seem fresh. Had to request holiday music be played.
A lovely Christmas themed high tea in a beautiful setting. Delicious opening cocktail options, yummy Harney and Sons tea options, and a very rich, delicious spread of finger foods! Wonderful way to celebrate the season!
Food was tasty and the right amount. I particularly liked the savories. I wish the sweets had been more varied—most of them were chocolate. I loved the ambience. The only problem, which was out of the Tavern's control, was the presence of a large party celebrating an infant's birthday. The baby was great and didn't cry, but the adults were quite noisy with (for me) constant loud cooing and baby talk. Although I like babies and children, I would have preferred a more peaceful tea experience.
So the high tea I remembered from a couple years ago was much more hearty. Larger REAL sandwiches with filling like curry chicken salad, egg salad, etc. Service was fine. We had to ask for a menu as we were still hungry. We were brought two menus, lunch & dinner but was told the kitchen was closed as we were in between the serving times. They were kind enough to make us a bowl of soup. So overall it was a below average experience and I will not return, unless things change there.
We had afternoon tea, expertly served by Jamal. The offerings were generous and the value substantial, given the cost of other offerings in the MD-DC-VA area. We stop in whenever we visit Washington DC.
Quaint old-school hotel restaurant, stately with parquet wood floors, service attendants in tuxedo bow ties, brass hardware, ... just a lovely, bespoke environment. I had a Tavern salad--crisp, seasonal, nicely balance of greens (butter lettuce), seasonal berries and citrus. Portions are appropriately sized, not hugely generous, but not skimpy either. My colleague got the chicken dinner plate and was pleased with the flavor and moistness. Thanks!
Best afternoon tea food ever! Not as many tea options, but the savory food was incredible. Usha was a wonderful server. The table next door was very loud, so that wasn't pleasant for an elegant tea experience. The hotel is old school and a bit rundown. Better value than other local options nonetheless.
It was obvious that effort went into the tea fare offered but unfortunately, nothing was fresh and so tasted stale or even off.
The entire staff and our server Binado were incredible! We came in for the Mother's Day afternoon tea special. It was the perfect way to cerebrate Mom! We will be back to try other meals from The Tavern.
Went for afternoon tea, Not worth the $$$, you'd think for $70 when they brought more hot water for the teapot you could get another tea bag???!

Sandwiches were good and scones were fresh but I think they were fig instead of currant and that was a bit weird. Sweets were unimpressive. Vibe is also a little dated and weird, but it's also not the most expensive tea service in town
The service was excellent and food tasty. Wonderful atmosphere and I could actually here my dinner guest in conversation.
What a wonderful venue! The restaurant is cozy, the service is excellent and the food is terrific!
The food was very mediocre and the ambience was shabby. Service was trying hard but was not great. But the noise was good; we could have a conversation.
We had a really lovely time doing afternoon tea at Henley Park! It was pretty pricey for what we got, but you have to expect that in DC.
