I had a great experience at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse in DC with my family. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt classic and upscale but still welcoming. The service was attentive and professional without being overbearing, which I really appreciated.
My steak was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor—exactly what I expect from a high-quality steakhouse. The sides were generous, well prepared, and complemented the meal nicely. Everything came out hot and beautifully presented.
Overall, Bobby Van’s delivered on food, service, and ambiance. It’s a solid choice for a special night out or a business dinner, and I would absolutely go back.

We had a wonderful night at Bobby Van's! Everything was definitely a 10! The greeting when we arrived was so welcoming. Got to our table and our server was Eamonne, he was fabulous! We started with the French onion soup and crab cake! They were both delicious! Then the famous wedge salad was perfect! We had one of the “specials” for dinner. My husband and I split it. 16 oz NY strip topped with melted gorgonzola with truffle fries! Amazing! It was so perfect, I can't say enough about it! Everything was top notch! Service, food, atmosphere! I highly recommend!!
We went for my husband's birthday. The staff was incredibly attentive to all our needs. The food was very good, too. The sweet chili calamari was my favorite. Would definitely visit again.
The place was place nice and very friendly staff. Cool that they have an old pay phone inside that works. $ However I did order a ribeye, Cesar salad, and baked potato. The food was pretty good but when I was eating my Cesar salad I bit on something very hard and hurt my back teeth.. I pulled out of my mouth a chunk of hard metal.. not too sure what it was or how it got in there. My tooth was very sore. It looked like a chunk of ripped off metal from something. They took care of my Cesar in price. But no real action was taken except the manager said he would speak with the girl making salad. Had I swallowed that would've definitely been in serious trouble..
We had a great time. The food was really good the steak was prepared perfectly and seasoned well. Great portion sizes. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive.
Our families New Year's Eve tradition continues at Bobby Vans in DC. It's always excellent food, excellent atmosphere, and a nice way to wrap up the year and start a new one!
Beautiful restaurant, loved the Christmas decor. Everyone was nice, professional, and accommodating. Food was 5/5 flavor wise. I only decreased it by 1 star due to the 10oz filet mignon that I requested butterflied but was on the chewy side and not as soft as I've always experienced. The broccolini florets were good but the stalks were way too thick and hard to chew, not something you'd expect from broccolini but more from broccoli. Again no deal breakers as we ate all the florets and it had good flavor and color. I would still recommend this location and I'd still return :)
The only thing my family and I liked about the food here was the steak (flavourful, even if slightly overdone, and still very tender) from the Steak and Cake that I ordered. The Crab Cake was fishy and quite ordinary (for the price), Fish and Chips that mum ordered is good (the chips were spectacular; fish was generous but batter too thick). But the one that we really didn’t like was the French onion soup - overly salty with the huge chunk of cheese, should maybe have some vol au vent pastry to temper the salt. Also ordered a plate of asparagus to share and that was good, but again for that price, I expected better.
Atmosphere seems really nice. But then in came a group of very rowdy gentlemen and the whole dinner we were just battling to have ourselves heard over their noise.
The staff were friendly and attentive (especially the male staff - super friendly).

Ordered the Sea Bass. It was OK, but I've had better at nearby restaurants. Not bad by any means, not even close. However, I do not have a desire to order it again. Service was friendly and very responsive.

Fantastic personal service. The chef made my wife an off menu dish that was so delicious. Attention to the table setting, drinks, and presentation was the upmost. Friendly staff and awesome the chef came to visit the table when she had questions about what was available.

Bobby Van’s Steakhouse was a great experience. The place has a classic, comfortable vibe, and the staff was friendly and on point. My steak was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor, and the sides were solid too. It’s a dependable spot for a good, straightforward steak dinner, and I’d definitely come back.
