Honestly, the quality of the service was terrible. The waiter didn't come to our table to check if everything was okay. There were times when we wanted to order drinks or add something to the bill, but we couldn't do that because he never came around. Instead, we had to rely on the food runners, who were actually very helpful and attentive — even though they're not servers, they tried their best to provide good service.
Great. Food great. Service great. The chef took all the time we needed to go through all of m daughter's allergy issues. Couldn't recommend more
Everything we had was excellent, the staff were all great. Couldn't recommend this place any higher!
I had the wedge salad and the sea scallops, both were excellent. My coworkers both had the chicken parmigiana and their meals were quite large and there very tasty. Overall a very good meal, with great service. I especially liked that it was quiet unlike so many restaurants these days. Next time in DC I will be going back.
Food was excellent and service fantastic. The music, albeit low and an appropriate level for conversation, was late 70's and 80's pop, which seemed odd for the atmosphere.
A pretty poor experience. The place was virtually empty on a Friday at 8.45pm which should've been a red flag; but having made reservations I decided to go ahead. My main server was friendly enough but a bad early sign was when the plate of my appetiser - the shrimp cocktail (consisting of only four shrimp) was whipped away by another server while I was still chewing. Things just got worse as the same server switched off the table lamps on every other table around me when I was only midway through my entree - at 9.40pm. I then overhead her, standing nearby, say to her colleague in Spanish ‘he's done. Perhaps he can take the rest away in a bag.' I was appalled by this and made my displeasure clear but, aside from a reassurance that management would ‘speak to the colleague in question', nothing further was proffered to smooth things over. I presume this lack of compensatory action was in anticipation of a likely donut when it came to tipping, with which I willingly obliged. I'm only in the US for a few days, having not been here for six months, and had been very keen to have a great steak in an old-school steakhouse. The strip sirloin itself, lest I forget, was good - but the experience left a lot to be desired. Only my main server, who was unfortunately caught up in issues caused by a colleague (and did not get tipped himself as a result), saves this branch of Bobby Van's from a one-star review. In a city overflowing with steak joints, I would strongly recommend you give this place a miss.
The restaurant was not open but still accepted reservations. No answer during attempt to call and no message stating that the restaurant was closed or if it had moved to an alternate location. Rare down the street was very good and able to accommodate us last minute. Would not recommend booking at Bobby Vans as it is unreliable.
Great service, friendly staff, and an absolutely fantastic cheeseburger!
We went on a Friday night. We asked for two cocktails off the menu and they were out of two basic liquors to make either. I ordered a glass of wine and they were out of that. We ordered a steak for the kids and they burned it. With all the steakhouses in dc, avoid this one.
Amazing spot I will definitely recommend to my colleagues when they come to DC. Host and staff were great and the Surf and Turf was on point!

A disappointing experience. The biggest problem was the noise level: it was so loud that the three of us had difficulty in hearing one another, seated together in a booth. VERY unpleasant. The food was just OK: I had to send back my steak twice to get it "medium." The third time was, finally, a charm. The dressing on the salad was slightly bitter, the dressing on the salmon not very tasty. The potatoes and asparagus arrived lukewarm and quickly got cold. The menu is way too limited. Just 6 non-steak entrees other than the 6 steak items. And when I called and asked about valet parking, they said that do have valet parking. But upon arrival, they told us, "No we don't have valet parking. But walk across the street and they will park your car." That valet service cost us $25 and our car was sitting just feet from the restaurant, where we left it.
I was not happy with this food. Spent over $200 for slow service, bland, poorly cooked “filet mignon” and worst of all I was not asked about a refill of anything. Just not happy. Will not be eating here again.
Great service! I'd skip the Caesar salad (watery, small portion, not enough dressing). Steaks were cooked perfectly and sides were really good too!
Excellent staff. From the door onward throughout our experience, the manager and staff were exceptional and our steaks and sides were all superb. Do not miss a chance to go to Bobby Van's.
The staff was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a varied menu. The food was delicious.
