It's all about the bar in the back. That's a fun vibe and good happy hour. Would definitely go again for drinks (the draft margarita is good). But would probably skip eating there again as food was just o.k.
Some of the food was okay, but some was unflavored.
I stopped in for a quick bite and was immediately welcomed by Jonathon, who was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the birria quesadillas and a Mexican Coke—both were delicious. The food came out incredibly fast, which I really appreciated since I only had about 10 minutes to eat. Great service, great food, and an all-around positive experience. I’ll definitely be back when I have more time!
Today is Wednesday, which makes this even more disappointing. When I opened my box, I honestly felt scammed 😂. I ordered carne asada tacos, and they were drowning in what looked like vegetable oil—pro tip: we don’t put vegetable oil on carne asada tacos!
They used the big corn tortillas, but with how little meat they put in, they might as well switch to authentic street taco tortillas. The tortillas weren’t even cooked properly mine tore the second I folded it twice, that’s how little meat there was. Properly warmed tortillas don’t just fall apart like that.
I’m especially bummed because it’s Wednesday… I should’ve just waited for the farmer’s market. Their tacos are hands down the best I’ve had out here.
$31 dollars for 4 tacos and an order of churros - NOT WORTH IT.
Idk what’s going on with the music either, I was confused am I at the club? lol
My coworkers and I are regulars at least twice a week. We only work 4 days a week lol
Great drinks and great vibes!
Gave me salsa instead of consome that’s supposed to come with the birria tacos 😔 Also the churros were rock hard burnt. Yall please get it together 😭
Brian was amazing and made our experience worth it!!
- the grilled pineapple was sooo good😮💨
Pretty new place, ambiance seems a little forced but hear good things about the secret bar in the back. Only had the tacos Al Pastor/ they were ready very quick, flavor was ok. Very skimpy on the cilantro. The sauce, some type is aioli was non traditional but ok- the texture the sauce added wasn’t great. Very oniony - didn’t taste any pineapple. Reasonable for the price.

Happy hour ended at 7, and we got in line at 650 and the cashier was talking with the two girls in front of us for over 10 minutes and by the time they were done ordering it was past 7. Because the cashier knew it was his fault, he told us that we would still be eligible for happy hour. Once the manger came over, he informed us that because it’s past 7 we are not eligible for happy hour and the experience was ridiculous. Do not plan on going back

Restaurantji Recommends
Heard about this place and finally ventured out there. Staff are incredible friendly and the restaurant are is nice but the lounge is better. Nice to know they serve food into late here. I gotta say I don’t think I’ve seen a hotter bartender in DC than Laura over here.
The cocktail menu has nice drinks but I’m glad Laura was able to make my go to drink so perfectly. Definitely feels like a place I’d like to come to again and again. Check it out!

Would not recommend. Food was cold, over priced, and bland. You pay for chips and salsa that comes in small reusable containers that is mediocre at best. The lounge lay out is strange with bully items giving you no table room, and they blare music to where you can’t hear yourself. I genuinely could have a more clear conversation with someone at a club . Overall weird atmosphere, service was okay, overpriced. Recommend going to mission in DuPont better food, service, prices, atmosphere.

Bodega recently opened near my office, so I decided to try it out for dinner tonight. The location is convenient to GWU, the Foggy Bottom metro, and surrounding businesses. The ambiance is fun and casual, and there is some seating inside. While I didn't make it in for happy hour, the deal advertised for margaritas from 4-7pm looks fantastic.
It took nearly 15 minutes to prepare my order, despite the fact that no one else was waiting for food, but this may just be a result of the staff getting up to speed during the post-opening period. The staff did seem genuinely concerned about the delay.
I ordered the Taco Tuesday 3-taco deal (2 carne asada, 1 chicken) with a small side of guacamole. The tacos were tasty, but they felt a bit light on filling. (Note that salsa costs extra.) The guacamole was fresh and tasted great. I did not have a chance to try their chips.
I'm sure I'll be back, but I may give it a week or two so they can get the kinks worked out in terms of timing. A promising addition to the area.

I went to the opening of Bodega Taqueria y Tequila in West End/Foggy Bottom this past weekend.
It’s a nice spot tucked among GW campus buildings, so this place will likely be a hit w/ GWU students especially late nights as there is speakeasy hidden in the back.
As part of the opening, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila offered mini burritos and margaritas. They both were good.
The decor and ambience is colorful and vibrant.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The manager offered to let me tour the speakeasy once I was done with my meal. I decided I wanted to try some other menu items, so I opted for the coconut shrimp taco and crispy fish taco. They were delicious!!Crispy and flavorful.
After savoring my tacos, I accepted the offer to preview the speakeasy, which opens at 4p. I will say I loved the graffiti entrance to the speakeasy, once inside it felt just like a nice new, hidden gem.
Even though the bartenders were prepping for later, I was able to order one of their tropical margaritas and it was just right!
Fruity & flavorful!
In addition to the bar, there are a few lounges, where you can sit & chill.
Once the word is out, I expect this popular Miami-based spot will be a hit especially given that they will be open until 3am on weekends!
If you’re in the Foggy Bottom area and want some good Mexican food & margaritas, Bodega Taqueria & Tequila is the place to go.
