Solid spot! We came on a Tuesday and it’s trivia night and veryyyyy loud - too loud to have a conversation, so we went on the patio - a little chilly and can’t order out there, but can at least take your food out there. Pricey for what it the vibe is, but tasty! I’d go back…but not on trivia night, lol!

I fell in love with BonChon many, many years ago, and I have been a loyal customer - of the overall franchise. From Korea Town in Manhattan to the Half Street Spot that arrived well before Covid was even 5 let along 19.
The service at the Half street location is always great! It doesn't matter how busy they can get. Recently though, I noticed that the SPICE in my spicy tenders is not as SPICY as it once was sad 😢 😢 šŸ’”
I'm hoping it's just a fluck, or that I've spiced out my taste buds for the week. It is still the best Spicy Korean fried chicken in the District, but I pray they bring back the SPICE that makes your lips feel like they're about to burn off. If folks can't handle the spice they can order soy & garlic - but please don't mess up the SPICE for the ones that loved you FIRST BonChon...

I don't know if it's the TARIFFS or what? Bulgogi. Fried rice comma and eight drumsticks. First of all the recipe has changed on them drumsticks it is not that delightful crunchy flavorful drumstick it was. My daughter spit it out. The bulgogi steak Okay fried ricees I don't even remember that's out blanding non-existent it was. Two iced teas and two ginger ales. $108 bucks and change!! So not worth it So not worth it. When I first came around the neighborhood chicken was busing. It's dry and drab. Such a waste of money such a waste of time

Really great food. A little pricey. You don’t need to make a reservation. You order everything from the table from a QR code. The chicken is a must.

Great wings every single time. I prefer the spicy much more but we always get half and half.
Stopped in for happy hour and the fries were $5 and popcorn shrimp were $7. It was a LOT of shrimp and they are very good. Couldn't even finish the fries. $5 wines too!

Today I visited the establishment and it's a shame they kept my order waiting too long and another person who ordered after me delivered the food quickly. They made me wait too long. I felt discriminated against for being of Hispanic origin. šŸ¤”šŸ¤· what draws your attention is that I have always been a customer of the business 🤦🄺

I can’t rave enough about Bonchon on K St. near Navy Yard! My wife and I had an incredible experience here, and it was all thanks to the outstanding hospitality from Jeff, the owner, and his amazing team. Jeff went above and beyond by offering us complementary iced teas while we enjoyed the outdoor seating area, waiting for our order. Such a thoughtful touch that really made us feel like valued guests!

Special shoutout to Ada, who was attentive and so welcoming, and to the bartender (we didn’t catch her name, but she was working around 1:30 PM on Friday) who made the experience even better. The service was top-notch, the team was friendly, and we felt so well taken care of. The food, of course, was exceptional as always—Bonchon never disappoints. We’ll definitely be back for more! Thank you, Jeff and team, for making our visit memorable!!

Bonchon Navy Yard delivers exactly what you hope for: wings that are crispy, saucy, and seriously addictive, plus bulgogi that’s flavorful and tender. The beer selection is solid—nothing flashy, but it does the job. Service was attentive and friendly, which kept things moving smoothly. All in all, it’s a reliable spot where you know you’ll leave full, happy, and maybe wondering why you didn’t order more wings

Ordering at Bonchon starts a little differently than most dine-in spots. We sat ourselves at a high top table. There was a QR code to access the menu. When the site loaded, right at the top before you even browse, you’re told you must select a tip before placing your order. They note you can ask a manager to change it later if needed. While I’m pro-tipping, it struck me as an odd and slightly off-putting policy, especially given that there’s no full table service and you’re placing your own order. Not exactly the warmest first impression.

After getting past that and placing my order, the experience improved quickly. The food came out fast, plated well, and looked as good as it smelled.

I started with the Pork Belly Bao Buns (set of three). The menu mentioned spicy mayo, but if it was there, it was subtle. I noticed more of the katsu sauce, which was applied in just the right amount so it didn’t overpower or make a mess. The slaw and cucumber slice added a fresh crunch that balanced the richness of the pork belly nicely.

For a side, we went with the Onion Rings, which were more than generous enough to share. They nailed it: thick slices of juicy onion encased in crunchy, golden-brown breading that wasn’t greasy at all. Light seasoning brought them to life, and they came with a slightly spicy house dipping sauce plus ketchup on the side.

Dessert was the highlight: Korean Donuts. Two large twists, piping-hot fresh from the fryer, coated in cinnamon sugar with a sweet cream dipping sauce. Warm, crisp, and comforting, they were easily shareable (though you might not want to).

The restaurant itself was spotless, with good music and plenty of seating. The vibe leans toward a sports bar feel: casual and comfortable enough to linger.

Overall, while I personally prefer a traditional full-service dining experience, Bonchon’s food more than made up for the quirks of its ordering system. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying, and I left full and happy.

In summary: Excellent food and atmosphere, minus one star for the unusual tipping policy and lack of table service.
