Bonjon Rumi is honestly the most authentic Afghan food I’ve had in the DMV area. Everything from the flavor of the kebabs to the perfectly cooked rice reminded me of home. You can really taste the love and care that goes into every dish.
What made it even more special was how welcoming everyone was. The owners actually came by our table to greet us personally, which meant a lot. It felt warm and genuine, just like being back home with family.
I’m so grateful to have found this place. Definitely coming back again soon!

This place is an absolute gem and one of my new favorite DC restaurants. I went a few weeks ago and had the mantu, sabzi chalaw, and the salmon. Not only is the food very tasty but the ambience is warm and inviting. Our server was friendly and excited to share knowledge about the cuisine. I ordered the sabzi chalaw again tonight as takeout and it was so comforting after a long day. This food tastes like home cooking - not overly oily or spicy like a lot of restaurants. Thank you all so much! Can’t wait to come back and try more of your menu.

Their brunch options consist of a series of small items with two freshly baked breads. For two people, sharing a brunch combo followed by one main was a fun way to try lots of dishes.

We started with an order of mantu, ashak, and tarshi, and then shared a lamb kabob entree. We ended with Turkish coffee and two desserts: Sheerbrenj and Halwa Sooji with vanilla ice cream.
