On a Monday night, the restaurant was relatively quiet, but as always, we had a great meal, beautiful cocktails, and excellent service. As I work at Georgetown, this is one of our go-to restaurants to host our out-of-town guests, and it never disappoints.
We had brunch at Brasserie Liberté and it was perfect from start to finish. The service was fast, attentive, and efficient, and every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. The whole experience was seamless and enjoyable. We will definitely be returning!
Food was excellent, as usual. The great menu offers so many fine choices. The service was perfect, right on the ball, with dishes served quickly and hot and removed as needed.
We loved our waitress! The food and drinks were delicious and a great value, ambience was superb.
I hated that their coke tasted of clorin. And that it was bit possible to order it from a bottle!!! Otherwise lovely food, wine and service.
Beware: they add a 20% “service fee” to your bill! Which apparently doesn't even go to your server. So they expect you to tip on top of that!!
We dined on an exceptionally busy evening and unfortunately the restaurant and staff seemed overwhelmed. We hope to try again at a quieter time because we have have great experiences here in the past!
The service was slow and terrible. Food was good. $80 for a Veuve bottle is great but we didn't even get our waters refilled. On top of all that, they charge a 20% fee.
First visit to Liberte Our server was very helpful & accommodating to our needs. We sat in a large room in the back at a corner table. We shared escargot that was good. Our entrees of cassoulet, Trout. & pasta were good. When the server presented the bill she said there was a 20% SERVICE FEE FOR REST STAFF. SHE STATED THIS WAS NOT A GRATUITY !!! ASSUMING SHE WAS SOLICITING ANOTHER 20 % I FOUND THIS EXTREMELY ODD. We ended up leaving a total 30 % for distribution.
Great food pretty authentic, service on point. Only issue is the music they play top 40 hits in a classy French restaurant... please play older French songs or at the very least American classic like Sinatra etc.

The food was amazing and the waitress was very kind. Unfortunately the restaurant charges a 20% fee on top of the total bill that does NOT cover the tip for the waiting staff. This was an unpleasant surprise at the end of the evening. They should just up the prizes of their dishes rather than surprise you with a charge like this - as I feel bad for the waitress - as who will leave 40% on top of their bill?
La Liberté is a great place in the style of a traditional French brasserie. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. But here's the issue: Why does the restaurant print on the menu that a 20 pct fee will be added to all items to cover the increasing costs? Well, isn't that what the price of a dish should reflect in the first place? So maybe management thinks the guests are stupid and that they aren't able to figure out that they will be paying $65 for a bottle of wine that is listed at $49 when they add the 20% plus tax. Or that your dish is not $35, but rather close to $46. And then, should you tip or shouldn't you? There's a vague explanation on the check about tips - that the service fee is not a tip, and that gratuity is not obligatory, but then again highly appreciated... I mean, come on: Tell me the price and if tips are included, instead of this smoke and mirror thing.
A lovely surprise! The food was really good and the staff was very polite. We made a special request and they were happy to accommodate it. Overall, it was a very pleasant dining experience. We'd definitely go back!
Be aware that this restaurant charges 20% service charge to your whole bill which is being taxed and does not directly go to the servers. When I spoke to the manager of this restaurant about this, he told me that it's their policy, and otherwise they would have to increase prices on their food by 50%, but their food is already no cheaper than at any other good DC restaurant that charges maximum of 7% surcharge. $15.95 for French onion soup there, and that's before 20% surcharge and taxes. This is rapacious.
Great experience. Lovely restaurant, excellent service good bread. A little pricey but that's typical for prospect Street in Georgetown.
