Didn't appreciate the attitude. They have good bread, but definitely not worth the price for a sandwich made hours ago and without cornichons. In France they might have attitude but at least take pride in serving fresh food properly. There are better baguettes in the District.
In all honesty, the chocolate cookies are ok. What makes this reviews five stars is the almond croissant. It was absolutely phenomenal. The croissant was flaky and buttery, and there was a plenty of almond frangipane inside. Also, the Cookie Roberts (shortbread with pecans) is very, very good. A lot of other good-looking baked goods and breads as well. We’ve also enjoyed pies from there before, and they were very good (got blueberry and peach). Great location and friendly service to go with their gourmet market, and you’ve got yourself a neighborhood favorite.

The best bakery in the Washington, DC area. When you need your Paris Croissant fix or best Baguette without getting on a plane stop by anytime and dip it in a good cup of coffee and dream away. So much more to indulge-Come yummy hungry
Popular bakery cafe in NW DC. Wish I had read reviews before ordering .. the runny eggs not my thing. Breads.. delicious. Fast friendly service.

A restaurant specializing in cold food? Over priced and rude staff. I got a sandwich (which was not what I ordered) a cookie (tiny), a tea (which was good) and 2 bottles of water for 31 dollars.. absolutely ridiculous.

Blueberry scone is the best in town. $4.95 + tax. I’ve also tried their walnut berry bread ($13.99) - which is too heavy for me.

Best baguettes in town. Best to call in and reserve your brioche as they run out early. Unfortunately, no GF offerings. Pastries and cakes are quite good.
This is going to be my new favorite place! Down the street from my office this little cafe offers so much! I'm a huge bread fan and the smoked salmon sandwich didn't disappoint. I think it was on chibatta or something similar. It was so good I had no time for a picture. It was devoured!
I also ordered a pain au chocolat which was wonderfully flaky. With three stripes of chocolate I was able to get chocolate in every bite.
It was hot outside so my colleague and I sat at the counter inside. There is so much to partake in here. You can watch them making the bread, buy wine, other grocery items, sandwiches, and juices. It is a little pricey but the quality and variety of items seems worth it.
I'll definately be going back since it's so close to my office. It may become one of my favorite places in the city!

They had a great selection of breads, the staff was actually rude to my fiance and I. They seem to be bothered by us asking some basic questions and asking if they had different products. I will probably not return here.
It’s great to have a place like that. Thank you for being here.
My boys used to go to school in this neighborhood so when I realized I was nearby I decided to stop in for breakfast and a few fun snacks for home. I wake up very early and I dont pay attention to what time it is by the minute especially this early because it’s unstructured time. That being said I walked into Breadfurst from the alley door as I have in past years. I walked all the way past two employees (Spanish speakers who said nothing which, Qué pena porque hablo español así que si hubieran intentado comunicarse habrían descubierto que podía entenderlos). I was in front of the registers when Elise came up and asked if she could help me (sarcastically). I told her I was still looking for that I would be ready in a second. She then exclaimed that they were closed and didn’t open until 8. I told her that the door was open and unlocked and that I didn’t know. She then, very rudely and snidely said the sign on the door says closed. When she said this it was obvious she really has no respect because she slowed down and paused between each word. At that point I asked why she is being so rude when I simply made a mistake and was looking at my phone when I walked in. I told her she doesn’t know where people are when they come in here and she ignored everything I said to continue to be disgustingly rude. I told her she is a terrible person, which she is based on this interaction. I can’t imagine working for her or with her. When I told her that she said that that was a terrible thing to say and that I don’t know what she’s going through. The only moment her face softened was when I told her I would be sitting in the car and writing this review. I never get tired of bullies who play the victim once they meet their match.
First and last time here. Stopped through to grab a quick bite for lunch and was treated like a criminal. The only difference I noticed from me and the other patrons was my skin color . I guess they get robbed a lot by people of color because I was being followed around the store; the staff made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I started to put everything back and not even spend here but I was starving. I enjoyed my orzo salad nevertheless. Don’t know how much money to spend so they can treat you with some respect but I apparently can’t afford it.

Outstanding DC bakery with some of the best, most delightfully flaky croissants I've found in the District so far! Located at the top of a hill in Cleveland Park, Bread Furst can be a bit of a trek to get to, but it is absolutely worth every step. This popular shop can get quite busy, so definitely take a moment to scope out the pastry case before you hop in line. They have one staff member take your order at the case, and then they'll enter it into a handheld POS system that punts your order over to the cashiers. Once you've shared your order for pastries, bread, or savories, you can hop over to the cashier to give your drink order and pay. The whole process is quite efficient, but the layout is a bit confusing and the process not super well-explained, so it can be a bit confusing the first time you visit.
I usually get their classic pain au chocolat, my favorite way to judge any bakery. They execute on this traditional pastry beautifully; it is delightfully flaky and has a gorgeously laminated dough and glossy, crispy finish. It comes with a generous portion of chocolate and is generally the perfect breakfast or mid-day sweet treat, especially when paired with a cup of coffee. I've also sampled their sour cherry and sea salt cookie, which is quite fun; the cookie itself is buttery and thick, and I love the way the tart cherries and salt counterbalance the sugar to create a complex, not-too-sweet treat.
