Outstanding DC bakery with some of the best, most delightfully flaky croissants I've found in the District so far! Located at the top of a hill in Cleveland Park, Bread Furst can be a bit of a trek to get to, but it is absolutely worth every step. This popular shop can get quite busy, so definitely take a moment to scope out the pastry case before you hop in line. They have one staff member take your order at the case, and then they'll enter it into a handheld POS system...
Went for the bread. Stayed for the coffee, croissants and more even bread. Have to say, the bread was delicious. Croissants really good. And coffee surprisingly good. Great little business, and bustling too, but it seems generally overpriced.
There was a time when the challah bread remained fresh as soft for about two days. Now when I get home, this is not even a day later it’s dried out and “Shelly”. Same with my sourdough bread. The day after it comes home it’s as hard as rock. I try to microwave for 10 seconds to soften it but nothing. Am I looking for too much?
