A sign of a good restaurant is when they make you change your mind about a dish. I'm not a fan of duck, but a friend invited me to join him for Bresca's duck dinner. I walked out a fan of duck. Here's our experience.

1) Service: It's Michelin star worthy. Staff were professional, warm, and knowledgeable about each dish and wine pairing.

2) Food: In addition to the duck menu, a few surprise dishes were brought over. Each dish was flavorful and enjoyable, especially the burrata, small bites, and duck breast.

3) Wine: The wine pairings were unique and perfectly matched.

4) Space: It's a simple yet unique restaurant with plenty of seats.

Not what I expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant. It was so noisy, that the waiter had to ask several times what we were trying to order- then the wrong starter arrived. The manager was quite apologetic. However, the worst part of our experience was the food. The foie gras seemed to be a mix of gelatin and foie gras, with what tasted like a marmite sauce on it. We love foie gras, but this was inedible. Then the black cod entree arrived with a scallop terrine over the top (not in the description) and was overcooked. Tasteless. The management was very accommodating, but given that this restaurant has a Michelin star - I had to post a review.

Tasting or a la carte, you cannot go wrong. Don't skip on anything duck related.

I expected the duck with the full tasting menu and didn't get it. So, that was a big let down. The food was mostly good and service was good. Except for the final savory course, which was some sort of pot roast--I took one bite (not good at all-really bad). Told the server it was not good at all and no inquiries or apologies from server or kitchen, which you would expect something from a place of this caliber.

Overall, I think I expected a lot more after having such a great experience at Jont (the upstairs sister restaurant) and Jont being one of my favorite restaurants. Not sure I need to go back to Bresca after this experience. I rather spend the extra at Jont.

Rarely one to leave a negative review, but if you are debating dining here, I would look at the much more honest reviews on Open Table. Food is mediocre at best, the staff is horrific, and the atmosphere is giving 2015 decor.

Absolutely no question about the food, it was amazing. I’m not entirely sure that the space is being optimized. My wife and I were seated at a table next to a bar and we had to constantly shuffle through the dinner for people being seated/exiting. For spending around $600 on dinner, the seating could be a little better.

We had the Valentine’s 4 course set menu (basic, no add-ons) with wine pairing. The food was good; delicate recipes and quality products. Wine pairing was fine. Other than that not really anything original or creative in the dishes.
Service ok-ish. Waiter was completely dailing it in… Just rambling his message without even a smile or making eye contact.
Chill interior design, nice floral wall. Dont mind loud-ish music, but after endless nineties hits, it really started to bother us when the Venga Boys were there to party…

I’m fine to pay $600 for a great (michelin) dining experience, this wasn’t one unfortunately. Won’t be going back, unless they suddenly halve their prices.

Wonderful ambience, the restaurant week 5 course tasting menu was phenomenal! The caviar supplement was out of these world. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. We will be back for sure! Thank you Bresca!!

It is a nice experience but not impressive.
We had the 5 course dinner.
First Course was the Beet Salad with Burrata paired with a German Riesling. For me, beet is too overpowering and burrata needed a little bit of salt. Pairing was OK. Second Course was the Scallops with the hollandaise and jumbo beans over a lemon vinaigrette paired with a Viognier. This was the best course in terms of flavor, but in my opinion the Viognier paired perfect with the beans… not great with the scallops. Third course was the Cacio E Pepe paired with a French Chardonnay. Although it was not the best Cacio E Pepe in terms of flavor and creaminess… it was the best pairing of the night. The next course was the Wagyu Beef. For me, its not a great Wagyu cut. It was more like a regular Flank Steak. I was expecting a better Wagyu cut. It was paired with a St. Emilion Bordeaux. Was a good pairing but can improve on the quality of the meat. Wagyu RibEye can improve this dish. Dessert was a Chocolate Mousse paired with a Late Harvest from Malaga. Great ending. Good Pairing.
For a Michelin Restaurant, I was expecting better and more clever flavors... and a more creative plating.

BRESCA afforded a passable fine dining experience for my wife and I this Valentine's Day. We were greeted with a complimentary house-made Chamomile/Rooibos kombucha, which was a flavorful highlight of the evening.

We opted for the $95 5-course Restaurant Week tasting menu, of which the highlights were the Hokkaido Scallops, the house-made brioche, and the chocolate coconut dessert (the black garlic puree on the Australian Wagyu dish was incredible too). Each course was delicious on its own, but the tasting menu as a whole didn't feel cohesive, and the dishes, while tasty, weren't optimally balanced. The whole menu felt like one rich dish after another with virtually no lighter respite for your palette. I'm someone who appreciates a decadent meal, but even I felt the heft of each passing course.

The service was good; attentive but not stuffy. A few of the servers were difficult to understand over the restaurant music and chatter. But, overall we felt well taken care of and it didn't hinder the experience.

The ambiance was... confusing. The aesthetics of the restaurant are upscale and put-together but the house speakers blasted T-Pain and Nelly (and all other manner of mid-2000s music) which felt discordant and jarring. And this is coming from someone who listened to said mid-2000s music in the mid-2000s.

Overall, I'd say BRESCA is a solid 4 stars, but one of the weaker Michelin-starred restaurants I've had the privilege of dining at.

Overall great experience. Food was exceptional, better than many tasting menus I have experienced in the city. The only negative was that it seemed very fast paced, like the house was very intent on turning tables. Everyone in our party noted it and it was a little disappointing given the price point. For this reason we may not return. We like an experience and rushing is a no go.
