Y’all the original owners are gone, this establishment has been bought by another investor. Last night we stopped by for vittles and live music. We got neither. We were told that last night was a soft reopening, which was cool, but there wasn’t a fufu or pepper soup to be eaten. No food and the musician weren’t even set up. Mind you, it was after 10pm when we arrived. I’m so sad about this transition. Hopefully the new investors will do their best to keep the legacy going. We’ll try again in about a month. 🤞🏾
Closed. Number isn't in service
i came here for the first time last month for the ‘award winning’ musical band listed on the website for sunday but it ended up being ‘open mic night’ instead
the cafe has a nice chill intimate set up
the bartender lacked in service + communication even after knowing it was our first time there which felt very off + it was no way near busy + we were the only people really ordering food + drinks
(we had to keep asking him for more water while eating our food + enjoying our drink. we had to ask him about closing time after noticing the place was empty + he began cleaning. he didn't say thank you nor good night after we paid)
the food was the best part of the experience! however, service is very important to me as there are many places to choose from these days so not sure if i’ll be back
i came here to leave a review from thinking about the egusi dish i had, very very delicious

It was a nice intimate setting more for a date than a night on the town.

Third time visiting. Ordered the Red-Red and Nkatenkwan! The food is always amazing, service was fast, and the restaurant is clean. I will be back.

This is hard because the flavor was magnificent. But I ordered the fish jollof and the serving size of the fish was offensive. Like it was just rice. I was so disappointed. I’d say give them a try but maybe mention you don’t want them to skimp on the protein.

Saw a great reggae band here and the staff was very friendly
I came here expecting to have quality. For almost $40 I ordered jollof rice, fish, and an order of wings and the wings were the only thing that were edible, but too salty. The jollof rice had no flavor or spice. The rice was mushy. The fish is too salty, I am a Ghanaian and this food is embarrassing as a representation of my country.

My family and I were excited when we realized there was an African restaurant near us when visited DC. We are very familiar with African dishes and couldn’t wait to eat there. We were very very disappointed by the food given to us . The food didn’t taste FRESH at all. Egusi stew tasted sour, my husband’s red red (almost gone bad), jollof rice wasn’t cooked properly- very grainy, spinach stew tasted sour. The only good food we ate kebab and the fried chicken. Finally, the bathrooms could use some air fresheners, the smell is appalling.

Great vibe and amazingly great location and easy to find. I was super excited to try the cassava leaves and Eba . When my food arrived , I asked for a hand washing area to wash my hand as eat with my hands as I love to enjoy meals with my hand . I was directed to the main restroom which had the toilet and urinal as the only place to wash my hands. This was very very sad as the restrooms weren’t clean. I had to unfortunately eat my meal with a fork. I think it’s important they set up a simple hand washing area this would really hike this amazing place. Music was great and food was good , except the experience of the washroom killed my entire vibe . I hope this would be worked on.

We heard live jazz when walking past this cafe, happy hour drinks are still available even passed 8pm on Tuesday. Stopped in and fully enjoyed the live jazz and drinks. A great way to cap the night!

The bartender is absolutely amazing personality and customer service. The soup (especially the spicy pepper soup) is absolutely delicious. My only con is that you do not get a lot of food at this restaurant. You may order an entree but it is more like a tapa. The oxtails are mostly bones with sauce. Not sure about the other dishes but unless it's the soup don't come here if you are remotely hungry.
