Wonderful selection of local and globally sourced artisan chocolates at reasonable prices given the location and quality of products. I will certainly return the next time I'm in town.

Valentines dinner was a disappointment. Service was poor. We visited a few years back and loved it, however this time our visit was not so great. Waiters seems to be fighting with management and unfortunately contributed to bad service.

Delicious hot chocolate - the cafe truly delivers on its name! While the cafe has a simple menu and small selection of beverages, the drinks pack a punch! The decadent Dark Hot Chocolate made with 68% cacao hit the spot! It wasn't too sweet and perfect serving size with a sprinkle of spices that elevated the flavor. The chocolate was so good that we bought a bag of the crushed dark chocolate nibs to make hot chocolate at our convenience! My hubby enjoyed his Cappuccino along with the Chocolate Croissant from Fresh Baguette. There are a handful of sweet pastries and some savory flaky Turkish pastries from Yufka Bakery. After watching the barista meticulously prepare DC S'mores Hot Chocolate for 10 minutes, I was very tempted to order it! It's prepared with a denser, thicker dark chocolate of 74% along with heating up the marshmallow with a blow torch and baking a graham cracker in a toaster. A tasty work of art! Will have to try it next time! The cafe is quite cozy with a couple of small tables near the front and bar stool seating. Not the best place for groups. The walls are lined up with bars of chocolate, truffles, boxes of cookies, and bags of coffee. Plenty to get your chocolate fix! Will definitely return to satisfy my penchant for Dark Hot Chocolate and try the DC S'mores Hot Chocolate!

Cafe Chocolat's D.C. Smores Hot Chocolate is certainly a photogenic dish that has been successful in attracting plenty of attention. I came in just for the purpose of ordering this marshmallow covered chocolate delight, and it didn't disappoint. D.C. Smores (5/5): It's hard to mess up a plate full of graham crackers, marshmallows, and thick hot chocolate. It was hot, chewy, and perfectly sweet. I was worried that it would be excessively sweet but they managed to maintain just enough of the bitterness of the chocolate. The only reason this isn't five stars is because of the price. I think it is hard to justify the $11 price tag... Considering you are essentially ordering a hot chocolate with some crackers and a marshmallow, I found this price to be borderline ridiculous, even for D.C.

Dark hot chocolate was delicious but the staff was rude. Barista seemed annoyed when we asked how the chocolate is selected. Good drink but not a wonderful experience

This little shop in the heart of DC had been on my girlfriend's and my mind. A year ago, we made our first attempt in going here, finding it to be closed by then. Yesterday, we finally got our chance, and it was a pleasant spot to relax in. We got white and dark hot chocolates. They were delightful to sample. Dark chocolate was thick and a bit frothy with fruity and cardamom spices. White chocolate was much lighter in taste and texture, imbued with chai flavors. They had excelled in their own ways. Later on, I had plain drip coffee and a blueberry scone, which were enjoyable. The number of options on menu was quite limited, and we came here, expecting some more out of this shop. Other than the hot chocolates, everything else seemed what you could find in any other cafe. However, I did notice that the staff or owner, whoever he was, took time to talk with his customers when he was not too busy with his shop. If you would like some company and some conversations, he's your guy.

Dark hot chocolate was good with some unique spices (cardamom and some others?) that you can definitely smell when taking a sip. However, I was kinda disappointed by this drink... Over $6 (including tax and tip) for a tiny cup of hot chocolate? It wasn't dark enough for me; I've had much richer (and DARKER) hot chocolate in Philadelphia and Boston (admittedly, I've always considered these cities to be more of "foodie" cities than DC). I was impressed with white hot chocolate though! It was more unique than the dark hot chocolate because of the fact that I NORMALLY don't like white chocolate, so I was more blown away by this drink, feeling surprised at the fact that I even enjoyed this drink. It was light, refreshing, and chai-like, while dark hot chocolate was deep (though not enough for me lol), rich, and chocolate-y. I also tried a blueberry scone, which was pretty great (and I thought I didn't like blueberry scones!). We requested it to be warmed, and it was soft and crumbly and had just right amount of sweetness and thick bread-y feel. Great service -- the server guy was very nice and friendly. I was working right until closing time on Sunday, and he cleaned up around me but didn't try to rush me or tell me to get out soon. He just gave me a nice heads-up that the shop will be closing soon, and then he continued cleaning. Nice server guy.

If you want to find the world's best hot chocolate or mocha, look no further. With the nicest baristas and a grand selection of specialty chocolates, this cozy little cafe has become my favorite coffee shop in DC. Although it's a bit of a trek from where I work, I will gladly walk the distance for a hot cup of dark chocolate. My go to order is usually a cup of dark hot chocolate with a hefty amount of cracked pepper. If it sounds odd to you, don't knock it till you try it. The cracked pepper is truly life changing. The bon bons are a little pricey, but they really are delicious. Definitely a great treat when you feel like splurging or when you just want to treat yourself! Their specialty chocolates are also a wonderful gift for friends and families! I highly recommend browsing their selection as the varieties offered are constantly changing. I bought a few bars (including the ghost pepper chocolate) for my dad for his birthday and he really loved them! Their bars are incredibly unique, I have not really seen them anywhere else. If you're in the area, definitely check them out. They are not a chain so you won't want to miss out on this!!
