I grew up in Turkey and have had an itching craving for Simit for YEARS. During my trip to visit my best friend in DC, we stumbled upon this place and I naturally ordered their Simit. It was PERFECT! I highly recommend it.
Cafe Divan is a stronghold in D.C. The food is always solidly good, and service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is attractive, yet casual.
The fresh pita bread is some of the best we've ever had. The shepherd salad is fresh and very tasty. Lamb kofta is delicious, as is the donner kebab.
Parking can be difficult in the area. Give yourself extra time to find a spot.

For a cuisine that should have so much flavor, this was exceptionally boring. The apps came out tepid and took too long to arrive when there was no one else in the restaurant. The last time we ate here, the food was delish and that’s why we decided to come back. Possibly a different chef? Different supplier? Or maybe they have given up. Who knows. Service was good. Actually, the female server should be given a gold star for the attitude she has to put up with some men who eat...
