The food is always good. I spent a lot of money at this place. The other day I decided to sit down and they're outside sitting area and have a smoke while looking online trying to decide what I wanted to order. Not one soul was outside at the time. Until the big security guard who had nothing else to do decided to come outside and tell me I couldn't sit there I got to go move and go stand and go sit on the other side very rude very disrespectful very uncalled for you guys lost money that night just because he wanted to be Superman for no reason. Every time I see this guy I show him nothing but respect I should have gotten that same respect in return.

The food was so good and a very large portion for how much was spent. It felt good to support a black business it felt like going over to your family’s house for dinner.
The server Jessica is very rude and need to find a job more suitable for her personality!!! There’s no way she’s still employed there after several reviews complaining of her nasty behavior.
Staff., customers and owner was very nice. Food was awesome just a little pricey
If I could rate this place a 10 I would!!!! I was visiting DC for a work conference and I wanted some good fried fish. I stumbled across this lovely establishment and immediately felt like I was in the right place! I ordered the whiting fish dinner with 2 sides, Mac and cheese and collard greens, the brisket and cheese egg roll, and I tried the chicken wings. The service was amazing from beginning to end. The food was fresh and hot. The fish and chicken was fried to perfection and it wasn’t salty!!!! The egg roll was amazing and flavorful!!! I’m in DC so of course I asked for “mambo” sauce the server say no, we have “Charlene” sauce mild and spicy. The Charlene sauce was amazing both mild and spicy. Leaving out of the establishment I had the honor of meeting Ms. Charlene and complimented her on her delicious food. She thanked me humbly. I told her any time I’m in DC I will be stopping by! If you want good soul food check this place out!
We goggled this restaurant looking for some soul food. Everything we ordered (4 people) was very good! The portion size is plenteous. We ordered to go and did not eat in. I will definitely go back.
Mac and cheese is to die for!🥰🤤🤤
Cornbread is DELICIOUS!! Fried Croaker is the best I've ever tasted!
Customer service is SWEET!😘
Drinks are strong!
What more can I say?!?!
I'm gonna sleep good tonight!💖
This restaurant is top tier!!!
please deliver!!
I am truly baffled by the high ratings for this place. We stumbled upon it while in DC. For those with limited mobility, the restaurant is at the top of a flight of narrow stairs and there's no elevator or other option for getting to the top. I felt really nervous up there because there seemed to only be one way out and if a fire or something broke out, we were all going to be in trouble unless we wanted to go out the window. Seating options are very limited as there are only a handful of tables. While the servings were enormous, the food was horrible. Me and my bf ordered salmon cakes with corn pudding and collard greens. The only saving grace, and the reasons for two stars instead of one, were the collard greens, which had a nice taste. The salmon cakes were overcooked, bland and so dry, and the corn pudding looked and tasted as if it were a week old. Plus it was crazy sweet. We ended up not eating most of our food. Note that they automatically added gratuity and some kind of random fee to your check. Our total was like $60 for the food; the only thing we drank was water. Everybody working there seemed really nice but I felt it was important to leave a genuine review of my experience because the reviews are what led us there. I wish them all the best but this is not a place that I would patronize again.
Restaurantji Recommends
Super friendly staff, and very good food.
Sandwich is not a sandwich. It’s strips of batter with no actual fish. KRAFT CHEESE EW EW EW
Meet with the owners( mother and son) they were helpful, quick and provided service with a smile. Upstairs was live, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. All in all the atmosphere and food was 5 out of 5
amazing soul food. never had salmon cakes and these were great! highly recommend :)
I had the experience of ordering Turkey chops from this restaurant and they were horrible. I mean they gave me fried bones on my plate as if they was cooking for a dog. I’m going to post this on ever social media platform. Please i beg you never go here. And the bad thing is it’s a black owned business and they are absolutely horrific. I will post pictures
