In a spot where space seems quite debated,And for tables, folks patiently waited,Though the meat was overdone,The service was second to none,And their quick, friendly charm, we celebrated.Though the crowd seemed to give them a test,The wait staff showed they were the best. With meals served with speed,Fulfilling every need,In the end, their efforts impressed.

One of the best restaurants in DC - I would highly recommend the gored gored if you are an adventurous eater!

Delicious!!!! So so good. We had the kitfo and a combo veggie platter. I've had Ethiopian at many different places and this was one of the best for both. Lots of flavor and spice and variety! If we lived nearby I would be getting takeout weekly if not more often.

I love Ethiopian food and will try it in DC and anywhere else I can find it. After all these years, I have a few other favorites on my list, but Chercher remains the baseline standard of what I hope to expect when I try a new place. I'm always a sucker for the vegetable combo and the beef tibs.If I had to give any minor criticism, it can get super crowded and hard to get seating sometimes (well deserved reputation and all that).

We were seated outside while it was very cold. It wasn’t that bad in the beginning, eventually I asked to turn on the heater next to our table, but was told the heater didn’t work. The food was brought was ok and then absolutely cold within 5 minutes, I could taste fat on the beef dish. It’s obviously a popular place, but they don’t seem to care about their customers.

We heard was good food, but it okay. Very small portion. Very very very slow service for food doesn’t need to be cooked for long. Overall it was okay not impressed at all.

After hearing so much about DC’s Ethiopian cuisine, I finally got to give it a try tonight. Chercher did not disappoint. Our server was lovely and so helpful in making recommendations. We went with the vegetarian special and the beef tips. It was all great, but I am especially glad we got the beef. It added a lot of flavor to the meal. The food came quickly and was delicious. We will certainly be coming back to Chercher!

Have loved eating at CherCher for many years. Vegetarian special was not as good this past visit as in the past, but special beef tibs were delicious.

I happened upon this place when a friend recommended we go grab Ethiopian while in Washington DC. I had no idea about the accolades this place had received, but they are well deserved! It's located in what appears to be a renovated house with seating, downstairs and upstairs. The decor is very classic and the ambience is absolutely spectacular. The place is a great combination of classy, lively, and relaxed. It's very Ethiopian! The folks working here were top-notch, knew their stuff and made some great recommendations. They took really good care of our group which included in a number of small children. We were seated upstairs promptly, and they got our food out very quickly. The food was absolutely delicious! Standard Ethiopian fair with lots of vegetarian options, some great Tibs (roasted meat) and an actual selection of honey wine (Tej). Having eaten at a lot of Ethiopian places, I will say that it's very rare to actually find a place that has more than one option. I found the mamas Taj to be quite delicious. The place has been on the Michelin list a number of times, and it's absolutely deserved. If you're in the area, this is a spot that you need to go check out!

First time Ethiopian......I am sure it was very good. However, bit to spicy for me and I need a fork......but I gave it a go. Sure it is superior, just not my cup of tea. My bottle of beer was good though.....
