I am writing a review because our bartender was amazing and we loved our experience but I really want to gatekeep this spot. It’s so cool and the cocktails are well crafted. $1 oysters were fresh and delicious!

We had a beautiful evening. The drinks were awesome. But why 3 stars?Warning: They changed us one drink more and didn’t want to change this. It was a huge discussions and obviously they were making us of us being foreigners and also exhausted after a long day.I would expect a food bar to immediately correct mistakes like that instead of starting discussions.

The food was unsatisfactory, and the prices were steep. There was an attempt to substitute vegetables for meat, which was misleading. On a positive note, the presentation and taste of the drinks were exceptional, and the service provided by the waitstaff was excellent.

Wow! This location was a bit nerve-wracking at first because the building looked quite old. As we approached the door, a code was requested, and I whispered it - it felt like we were undercover agents or something! Upon entering, the ambiance was captivating. The decor was beautiful and definitely selfie-friendly. The drinks were strong, perfectly suited for the occasion. Unfortunately, we didn't dine there as we had already eaten dinner before arriving. However, both the bartenders and managers were professional. If you're seeking something different, I strongly suggest this location. Trust me, I'll be returning here soon.

The owner of this place did a truly fantastic job here - from ambiance to creative and delicious drinks, period music, service, and more, just top notch. You will feel as you were transferred to a different era, a nice escape from reality, even for a couple of hours. What a great experience!

My experience at Code Red was largely positive. The establishment boasts a captivating prohibition-era ambiance, complemented by a hospitable staff that enhanced the overall enjoyment. I found the beverages to be well-crafted and reflective of the establishment's standards, particularly when seeking recommendations from our server. However, there were minor drawbacks concerning the culinary offerings. While the fried artichoke was satisfactory, the truffle fries left something to be desired in terms of the prominent truffle essence. Regrettably, the steak failed to meet expectations, arriving more akin to well-done rather than the medium requested. Additionally, the chimichurri accompaniment lacked the robust flavor typically associated with this condiment.Despite these culinary discrepancies, I would consider revisiting Code Red primarily for its beverage selection, which proved to be its standout feature.

Code Red is such a fun vibe! From the beautifully created interior, to their delicious dishes and cocktails, it's definitely the place to go for a special occasion or date night. We can't wait to go back!

The speakeasy vibe was strong at Code Red, and they did a fantastic job with a birthday/promotion celebration party. Mark accommodated requests for a custom drink menu and a party-specific code word and set fair terms for the part space at the back of the bar. They also allowed for a change of date because of inclement weather. The night of - Everything was set out for us, and the server, Emilio, was ON IT. Drinks were coming out as quickly as expected in a busy bar, and he was checking in with everyone to ensure we were all having fun. Worth checking out!

I wanted to treat my fiancé to a speakeasy date for his birthday. I definitely recommend a reservation because the space is tiny and really popular. The check in process was quick and easy. We made it in just in time for happy hour with a lot of the drinks only being $7, including the tasty gin and mint drink. We tried two happy hour appetizers- the arancini and the jumbo shrimp- both were great and we were happy to have them both for $8. I really loved the bees knees and my fiancé liked this whiskey drink and his drink with absinthe. A few of the whiskeys neat were a bit overpriced but all the drink prices were fair in my opinion for cocktails and beers. Most drinks were typical and nothing was crazy funky which I enjoyed!

I’ve never had such a great and welcoming experience at a place before. We went a few months ago, and it’s been one of my favorite places by far. We went basically right after they opened at happy hour and were sat at the bar. The host was very nice and chatted with us a bit. The bartender was so professional and helpful and gave great recommendations on foods. We ate from the happy hour menu and ate chicken wings (I literally got two servings because they were that good), wagyu sliders, calamari, and grilled octopus. I loved the vibes, almost felt a bit under dressed walking in there but they make you feel so welcomed it didn’t matter. Had about 6 drinks between me and my husband and had like, 4-5 appetizers. Only spent about 95$ before tax. Was GREAT.

The hidden, but not so secret gem that has surely become my favorite happy hour location in DC. I really didn't want to share this one out, but I didn't want anyone to miss out on such a lovely experience. $1 oysters during the Tuesday happy hour with amazing appetizer and cocktail options. My companion and I ordered a dozen oysters, expecting poor quality for the price point. We were pleasantly surprised by the size, taste, and freshness of these oysters. Beverage-wise, we ordered the Southside & Kinky Thompson on the happy hour menu, as well as the Bees Knees and Boulevardier off the happy hour menu. All cocktails were pleasant, but food was the clear star here. The ambience was very on par with expectation with the red light and dark scenery to highlight a prohibition-era experience. Only issues to note were difficulty in initially getting our bartenders attention to the point that we somewhat got frustrated & had to wave him down after about 20 mins. In addition, and understandably so, due to the demand during the Tuesday happy hour, the oysters came out somewhat hacked, leaving us to pluck out shards of oyster shell before consumption. Not the biggest complaint given the highlights mentioned above. This would be a nice to have. Overall, great experience, and I will most definitely be returning again and again !
