Im usually a regular here at this café and I know that it recently went through a turnover and management however, the coffee quality has declined alongside the extremely loud and obnoxious management. The cafe has steadily declined after the new management. Im no longer gonna to be ordering from here anymore.

I felt so bad for the baristas working. There were only two very flustered workers trying to tackle a long line and even longer queue of drinks. The place is nice and the coffee was just ok, not worth waiting 20 minutes in line then another 15 to be made though. Maybe schedule more people?
Cute shop with lots of tables and sitting spaces, attentive employees, and a good snack selection. Their drinks were a tad expensive but nothing outrageous, normal for a city. I got a hot chai, but it tasted kind of floral and a little off, and wasn't prompted to select a milk. Overall the place is a cute city coffee shop, and I cant say anything about their matcha or coffee since I haven't tried it

Just visiting the DC area and came in to check out the Georgetown area! Although I was hoping for a cute French coffee shop for to embrace the history of this community, a local recommended Compass coffee shop. They did not disappoint. Mike was my barista and he had fantastic customer service! He was friendly, warm and welcoming! He even so much as came from behind the counter to come make conversation with me for a short time at the booth I was sitting at. To say people are friendly in DC and surrounding areas is an understatement. Plus the coffee here was great! I tried the Tumeric Honey latte!

Very good coffee.
Got a pickup order on my way to work, and of the good things about this trip, it was ready a few minutes before the promised time (as calculated by DoorDash). And, to be fair, the inside of the cafe is beautiful and it seems like a decent place to get some work done.
However—I’ve tried a decent many chai lattes and coffee cakes in my time, and man, these were just…so not amazing. I bought a medium chai which costs an extra dollar, but upon opening, discovered the cup had a full inch of room between the drink and the rim. I’d understand if they were being cautious because it was a pickup order and they worried about spilling, but it came with a well/fitted spill guard that would’ve ensured that any of the liquid in the underfilled cup would’ve gone nowhere. It also, somehow, tastes as if it had been made near a strong-smelling breakfast sandwich; I have no idea how to explain, but it genuinely had a flavor of cooked ham or sausage, reminiscent of a breakfast sandwich meat. It’s not bad, but…it was at least palatable. The coffee cake also left much to be desired. It wasn’t stale, but it was verging on it, and the flavor was just…fine. It was fine. Definitely a solid 4.5, maybe 5, out of 10. All in all? Go for the atmosphere, stay for the atmosphere. Don’t risk buying a somewhat pricey breakfast that will not meet expectations.

The coffee and space if fine, however they are a location that allows dogs inside and quite frankly it is getting ridiculous. As I type this there are literally two dogs barking and fighting at the top of their lungs. I think in a place where people are EATING and DRINKING I should not have to worry about dog hair getting on me, hearing dogs literally fight and bark at one another, and feel uncomfortable as if I, a HUMAN who is paying real money, is the problem. I really need places to get clear about their dog policies because it's becoming such an issue.
*Editing my review to include a dog has now been crying for the past 30 minutes because their owner just has to drink their coffee indoors.

Compass recently opened near us. It is now a favorite, meaning we rarely need to use the bigger chain. Excellent coffee.

Filthy bathroom. Can’t believe they can pass a health inspection :(. Still like the coffee but worried about how much cleaner the food prep area is than the restroom :(
