I had been wanting to try Compliments Only for a while because it had so much hype on social media! The employees were very friendly and the location is cute. I got the Teamster sub, which was very delicious! I personally can’t justify $17 for one sandwich though, especially since the olive oil/vinegar made the bread soggy when I tried to save half for later. They certainly pack a ton of meat and toppings into the subs though, so I can see why it is expensive. I probably won’t be returning unless I am with a friend to split with, but I would still recommend it overall!

I am SO SAD I ordered the crunchy boi and they delivered a different sandwich with roast beef. The bag had my correct name so I guess someone at the store didn’t put the right sandwich in. And now they’re closed since it’s after 6 so I can’t even get the right one :(

Terrible vibes at this place, employees were rude, unwelcoming, and did not honor the happy hour special they have on their menu. Sandwich was mediocre at best. Don’t waste your money and go elsewhere. Such a bummer because I was excited about this place.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to pick up an order from this restaurant, and chris, who claims to be the GM, rudely snatched the food from me, demanding that I confirm the order. I explained that I had already done so, but he insisted on seeing my phone, claiming that people steal. His behavior was not only unprofessional and aggressive but also came across as judgmental and discriminatory. I felt unfairly targeted and uncomfortable. No one should be treated this way.

Delightful sandwich spot with a cute, cozy basement space!! Compliments Only has been on my DC wish list / rec list forever, so I was super excited when I finally got to give it a try. Despite normally not being the biggest sandwich fan, these were stellar -- the bread was nice and soft, but still had a strong, robust crust to hold the sandwich together. And, believe me, that was much needed: these sandwiches were absolutely stuffed to the brim!

I got their farmer's market after dark, their only vegetarian option, and it was solid. It was absolutely packed with shredded lettuce, cucumber, onion, arugula, and these perfectly sweet and spicy peppers. The veggies are all super fresh, and I love the variety of textures and flavors; the cucumber and lettuce offer a great crunch, and the arugula has a nice, slightly bitter bite to counteract the zing of the onion and sweet / spicy hit from the peppers. The peppers do a lot to carry the flavor in this one, and, while it's not quite as convenient as having the chips already inside the sandwich like you get with the crunchy boi, you can always add a few on your own for some added crunch and flavor. While the sandwich was surprisingly flavorful for just being a bunch of pretty standard veggies, I did think it was a bit lacking in protein, even if you pay the extra fee to top it with mozzarella.

I wouldn't say it's the best place to go if you're vegetarian, but the sandwiches are still fantastic (and, if you're a meat eater, this is one of the best sandwich spots for you in DC).

$15 buys you a LOT of sandwich … but surprisingly little favor. The ingredients seem to trip over one another - and there’s way too much iceberg shreds and heavy sauces - which makes the taste uneven (*I had the Hot Pants, and tried the Crispy Boy), so the experience ranges between bland and delicious.

With some revisions to the sandwich construction techniques, I’m sure the experience would improve.

Sandwich was amazing. Definitely recommend ordering online in advance. Music inside is way too loud. Eat outside if possible or take back home.

Good catering option. I would probably recommend it more for meat eaters than vegetarians because while they do have some veg options, it’s a lot of lettuce. The huge chip bags are fun though.

I have been following this place on social media for a while and waiting patiently for a time to be in DC during the day to try it.

It did not disappoint ???

The staff was awesome and the subs were even awesomer

I tried the crunchy boi - turkey, provolone, and potato chips. Just as amazing as imagined. My wife had the veggie option - farmers market after dark. She loved it

This place is it. Best subs in DC. Period

Terrific sandwiches! Very friendly staff. Not a ton of room, but great for grab and go. Our sandwich had POTATO CHIPS in it (crunchy boi)! One sandwich is also big enough to share.

I asked for a sub with mustard. No mayo. They put a ridiculous amount of mayo.
So this made my sandwich bad. I feel like if it had no mayo like I requested it would have been OKAY. But with mayo it ended up being horrible. Was storming so couldn’t return it and switch it out. Sad day. Also $20+ for a sub and an ice tea seems a bit much.
