Unfortunately the great drinks can’t make up for an incredibly rude bartender and bad service. Used to love this place. I hope they can find someone to match the former quality of this place.

One of my favorite places in DC and a fantastic rum distillery. If you read the negative reviews, and the responses, looks like some rude customers are just disguising their bad behavior. Amazing place and definitely worth a visit. Really wish they would bring back the bottling nights!

I love Rum and I had a great time here. The slushy drinks went down easy but I could sip the rum straight all day. The spot seemed like a great place to meet up after work and even has a shaded back area. Vibes were chill and I even made friends with the locals. Shout out to Alvin and Mel for the great Rum drinks and experience. I will be back soon!

Very disappointed. It was my first time there and the door man and bartender was rude at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Hospitality was non existent from my experience. I didn’t feel welcomed to stay and have a drink. I expected more because I heard good things in the past but I’ll never be back. 0/ 5. I would NOT recommend.

My partner and I recently had our engagement party here, and it went great! It was pretty seamless booking/confirming everything, and we had full flexibility with decorating the space and such. Our bartender we had, I don’t know his name, but he was amazing! Just as a note for others booking: The set up time is only 30 minutes, which is kind of hard to work with, and the only “grievance.” Additionally, there is a bar tab minimum, and if not reached, there is still automatic gratuity of 20% on the minimum itself- so budget the amount with the added tip. Overall, I had a good experience and recommend!

All rum all the time. A (tourable) distillery with a small bar area that serves all varieties of rum-based cocktails, flights, and even slushies. Solid service, and enough bar seating and wall counter seating to accommodate small groups. Cocktails we tried were good, if not entirely memorable so maybe should have tried a flight. But overall, a cool spot worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.
Let me start by saying I have been a long time patron of Cotton & Reed... Bringing friends from all over the country to visit because I truly love their rum. Let's talk about tonight. I have my lovely friends in town who are craft booze aficionados. We just dropped almost a grand at Don Cicclos, Much of which was being shipped but a few bottles we had with us in shopping bags. I was SO excited to take them to Cotton & Reed. In my opinion, the best rum made in the states. As we walked in, the security guy said he "shouldn't let us in but I'm going to make an exception..." Because of the closed bottles we had in bags. He then began to talk poorly about us to other people in the bar about how he made this exception for us.i was quite upset and confused to why he was annoyed w us. It was such an uncomfortable situation; we did not feel welcome. We were clearly people that spend a lot of money on spirits and if they would have welcomed us into their establishment, we would have likely spent quite a bit on bottles at cotton and Reed. But quite frankly, that great door man scared us from buying more in fear we would not be able to go anywhere else with our bottle purchases the rest of the night. I guess distillery hopping and supporting the establishments you visit is discouraged at Cotton & Reed.

The rum tasting room experience was amazing 10/10 the general manger had a wonderful energy and presentation and the rums tasted amazing I recommend the Buko Pandan rum while it’s still around !

I love coming to Cotton and Reed every season, but I love coming especially during the fall/winter because their hot drink is just so COZY and delicious! This is my normal spot; I’ve really grown to love this place. I normally look for Kalaye when I get there because she has such a great spirit, welcoming personality and greets me with a smile EVERYTIME ! She even remembers my favorite drink! But all of the staff here are amazing… Cherisse, Jamel, Alvin, the manager Britt, everybody!
