There was a reason why I was anticipating to go to Dōgon... It was too good!
I was excited to finally snag a reservation for myself and my significant other. Reservations are highly recommended if you want to avoid a long wait. When we arrived for our reservation, we received a warm welcome and we were escorted to a lounge area as our table wasn't ready. The lounge was intimate, plus there was a cocktail menu. We were able to start off with drinks first. We were here for about 15-20 minutes before being seated.
Once we arrived to our table, our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the entire menu in detail. We shared the cornbread, hoe crab and fried whitting sliders to start---chef's kiss. I then enjoyed the oxtail dish that came with a side of rice peas. This dish was so flavorful! Lastly, we finished off with the rum cake which had a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I loved my experience and can't wait to go back!

They greeted me when I checked in by saying “welcome home” and they meant every word. The food is phenomenal. Best meal of my life. I will think about this often until I go back. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. I had the best waiter Travis. The playlist was great and matched the vibe of the food.

Pacing of the meal was off. Our waiter told us it was best to decide what we wanted, and he would pace the courses out. This couldn’t be further from what happened. We felt incredibly rushed. Two courses came out, in reverse order, before our drinks. Entrée was out after only 20 minutes. There was no room left on the table, and we were still working on the first items. I wanted to enjoy a glass of red wine with dinner, but never even got the chance.
For what it’s worth, everything we ate was incredible. But, I expect good service at this price point.

If you’re looking for a restaurant with amazing food, great drinks, and the perfect date-night vibe, this place should be at the top of your list. From the moment we sat down, it felt special.
We started with the coco bread and oysters, which were a delightful introduction to the meal. For the main course, I had the Mama Duke Shrimp, and my husband opted for the Chicken and Rice. The shrimp was absolutely delicious—perfectly seasoned and cooked—but I do wish it came with a side, maybe rice or mashed potatoes, to round it out. Thankfully, my husband was happy to share his rice, which was flavorful and paired wonderfully with the shrimp.
The drinks were another highlight. I tried the Flower Pot Punch and the Spirit of the Dunes, and both were fantastic—refreshing and beautifully crafted.
To end the night, we shared the rum cake. While the fruit garnish wasn’t my favorite, the cake itself was moist, rich, and paired perfectly with the whipped cream.
Overall, this restaurant is a gem!

I finally had the chance to dine at Dōgon by Kwame Onwuachi on 11/29, after weeks of excitement and fighting for a reservation—and let me tell you, it was worth every bit of the effort! We had a 9 PM reservation to celebrate my Fiancés birthday, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric. The vibes are unmatched—intimate yet lively, with a perfect balance of elegance and warmth. The staff was phenomenal, offering impeccable service while being incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They truly made the birthday celebration feel special, with thoughtful touches that didn’t go unnoticed.
The highlight of the night was meeting Chef Kwame Onwuachi himself! It was a surreal moment that added an extra layer of magic to an already memorable evening.
As for the food—wow. The depth of flavors was extraordinary, especially in the oxtails, cabbage, and rice. Every bite was a celebration of bold, vibrant flavors that showcased the chef's mastery of his craft. Each dish told a story, blending tradition and innovation seamlessly.
Dōgon by Kwame Onwuachi is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. If you have the chance to go, don’t hesitate—it’s a culinary journey you’ll never forget. Five stars across the board!

So nice, I had to visit twice! The flavor in this food is so divine yet so unique, I was blown away! Absolutely everything is delicious. The service and ambiance fit right in with how amazing the food is. I love how the staff continuously checks on you to make sure you’re enjoying the food. Some of my faves are the oysters, chicken and rice, coco bread, piri piri salad, cornbread, oxtails with the rice & peas, rum bake, let’s just say the whole menu! Okay!

Service was amazing, from the hostesses to our server Demetrius (who truly made the night!), everyone was absolutely lovely. The food- unbelievably delicious! We ordered the coco bread, greens, Ben’s bowl (curry lamb dish), broiled oysters, chicken and rice, and oxtails. Everything was phenomenal. I so badly wanted to start gnawing on the oxtail bones but restrained myself. And the greens… I’m still thinking about them. We came for our anniversary and the staff at Dōgon did not disappoint!!

Was so excited to try this place since I’ve eaten at Tatiana’s. The food was phenomenal EXCPET for the oxtail. We got about 3 large pieces but one of them was entirely made of fat. I normally wouldn’t mind, but for the price point and caliber of restaurant, I think that’s unacceptable. Loved the crab (although, be warned that the portion is tiny!) and the fish, though, and the BBQ greens were a surprise hit. Service was great and the drinks were on point.

This is my second time at this restaurant and it is consistent with how delicious the food is and how great the service is. All of the servers are amazing. I had Cindy on my most recent visit and Ameer as my server during my previous visit.
Trust me when I tell you, this is the "IT" place to be. The ambiance is very welcoming. You have to try the collard greens and Wagyu. You will not be disappointed.

I had the most amazing meal at Dogon!!! Chef Kwame & Chef Martel both came to our table. Such great personalities & undeniable passion for cooking incredible food. We had a view of the kitchen & were able to see the choreography & teamwork it takes for the staff to bring these afro-caribbean flavors to life. I LOVED the grilled wagyu short rib & branzino. Our server, Cindy, was a delight, as were all who brought food & beverages to our table. I will definitely be back!!

The food was absolutely amazing!!! We tried the curry branzino, chicken & rice, collard greens, cocoa bread and the rum cake. The drinks were amazing as well - I did the mango smash BOMB! The collard greens and branzino were the stars of the show! The chicken was great too but the jollof rice was not that great ! Now the price point is wild lol I guess he has to pay for that Salamander rent. I think it’s a good place for celebrations but with the price I can’t go as often as I would love to.

We went to Dōgon for my friends birthday dinner and it was such a lovely experience. Our waiter was Daniel and he was attentive and kind. Kwame came and greeted us and wished my friend a happy birthday which she was so happy about! The food was fantastic and so were the drinks(probably the best expresso martini I’ve ever had). I also love the black owned vibes they have curated. We also briefly hung out in the lounge where the gorgeous Shianne was our server. She was polite and professional as well. Overall I would give the experience a 4.8 out of 5 and I would definitely go back!
