I go back to the Daily Grill from time to time because it has a special place in my heart. But these days it's a ghost of its former self. Virtually empty, with minimal service and mediocre food. I am glad they're still in business, but I wonder how that's possible.

I always make Daily Grill a must dine there place to introduce friends and family to when I visit Washington, DC from California. We stopped by Sunday but the restaurant is closed Sunday's and Monday's - not a problem because we were finally able to dine there on Tuesday evening, July 25th. Unfortunately, many happy and fond memories have been tainted by the service and dessert that we received. Our waiter's attitude bordered on being rude; he would not stop and give us his full attention when we asked questions but would continue walking and slightly turn as if we were an interruption, he ignored us and only helped when we flagged him down. We waited ten minutes and finally requested bread which he plopped down on the table, and he did not check with us during the meal to find out if we had any questions or needed anything. We had to request dessert menus - he did not make us feel welcome. Finally, dessert was requested to go because we felt uncomfortable and wanted to enjoy dessert while eating it. When it was opened in our hotel room, the bottom crust on the Apple Struedel topped dessert was totally unbaked, raw and inedible. Would have returned it if the restaurant was closer and we had the energy to go out again but settled for throwing it in the garbage. The ice cream was good.I've been dining at the Daily Grill when visiting DC for over ten years and this experience has turned me away from the restaurant. I do not intend to dine there again or to recommend it.I'm sorry because it was one of my favorites.

SERVICE SUCKS. I went on the late Friday afternoon (5 pm ish), August 4. The host (who was the WORST ambassador to the restaurant) was a tall guy of color who looked at me when I entered, didn't say hi, and asked how many were in my party (Hey dummy: it's only me and if you had listened when I entered, I told you "just me." He was WAYYY too busy looking at his cell phone to even care about what I wanted or why I was there. No lie! Then it took a downhill slide from there. The attitude-again of a guy of color with a very unkempt beard/goatee-was unfathomable. He never greeted me but simply said: "Do you want something to drink?" And then, once I ordered my 40 buck dinner instead of ordering a drink, he captured the order, and left...did not say a word.No lie!He never ONCE visited my table during the meal. Never once asked if I wanted more water. But he gave me my check, about 15 minutes after he was done talking to his friend. No lie!As for the food: EXCELLENT! BUT: The training of the host and this server needs to happen asap. It was the third worst service I've had in a restaurant of this caliber and I'm saddened to think that my hotel that I stay at each month is right around the corner.Just to conclude this pathetic service experience: When I left the restaurant, the host didn't say goodbye but kept staring down at his phone. I turned around and asked him whether or not he knew about "Yelp" and HE DID NOT! WTF? Who hires these morons?

Very tasty food as we came here for a single course family dinner with two family friends. Great (huge in one instance) kids meals: a very sizeable fish and chips that was largely devoured (by our fussy eater!) and a much more modest pasta bowl also very well received. Adult mains (short rib, burger, pot pie and French dip) were all lovely. Service was generally fine albeit not overly attentive and a bit slow with food orders (although the server took the time to volunteer an explanation which was a nice touch), one drink never arrived and asking for mayo appeared to be something of an inconvenience to them. Atmosphere, on a surprisingly quiet Friday night, was very pleasant indeed. I doubt we’ll return on this trip but would have no objections to doing so again in the future.Kid-friendliness: Quite happy to receive our youngsters and a good kids menu on offer. No obvious sign of any activities for them so we resorted to some screen time especially as it was a little late and they were commensurately tired!Parking: Presumably at the mercy of downtown lots - we took a cab here given the warmth and storms in the area!

Great burger!! Truly one of the better I've had in any restaurant .. service was quick, but not rushed and friendly..

Delicious food and great service. Recommend the spicy shrimp and chicken pasta and the seared salmon! Ordered two dishes and I could tell that they were made to order and timed perfectly. Great chef in the back!!

Went here on a Friday night for the first time in 15 years. Not at all the way I remember it. The place was empty. Food was adequate. nothing special at all. Quality was that of a Dennys. It used to be a decent mid-level restaurant but I don't think it has survived COVID well. Menu MUCH more limited than it was a few years ago.

We were cautiously optimistic after reading recent reviews, but decided to try the Daily Grill again. So glad we did. There was a small, but friendly and efficient staff. Four of us each had a different entree, and each was perfectly prepared and served. Great experience. We'll be back.

Service was good, Food was delicious, and prices are reasonable. I had the fish and chips with a side salad. My fiance had shrimp with a side of risotto. Everything was on point; risotto may be the best we ever had. Definitely recommend this place.

Fast and friendly servers...food came super fast, even though the place was very busy. Delicious Reuben Sandwich with the bread perfectly toasted. Also, had the Peanut Slaw...new for me and tasty. Definitely recommend for a quick and tasty lunch.

Pared down menu makes sense after COVID, but I miss the Kale Ceasar though, I ordered chix Ceasar and chicken was very dry. My lunchmate enjoyed the french dip. Our server was friendly and efficient despite being very busy. He even remembered my Aperol Spritz which was delicious. The chicken piccata remains my favorite dish, please don't take that off the menu.

Terrible service from “ Dallas”. Poor server acted like we were doing her a disservice by ordering drinks and wings. Food was “ok” but the service was way below par for the area and prices. If you’re desperate, there’s no wait, and you don’t care about the negative energy projected by the servers, go for it! If you’re looking for a cozy place to go on a date with a significant other, STEER clear!Just to caveat, we’ve only had bad service from this one server, so respectfully cannot judge the whole establishment by the attitude of one individual employee! Horrible experience. Hostess was rude and seem to be bothered to have to get up to greet us. Staff was rude and disinterested Food took forever to come out and was subpar as well Really one of my top 3 worst restaurant experiences ever

I hadn't been to a Daily Grill in about 17 years and was surprised that their food has greatly improved. I had an excellent entree, Pan Seared Asian Sea Bass with lemon risotto, etc.
