Place was great, food was okay, server was very polite and good, we were there for my BD, and the server did a fantastic job, but two things very unprofessional, one, a nice dress older gentleman, who came to our table few times(standing more then few minutes) and talking about his past and some politics! Two, a well dressed lady, who came to the section where we were sitting, and picked up our candles without asking or even looking! we were there for my BD with my friends and I think the management should work little harder to train and make sure not to bother their guests, even it maybe un-intentionally! Thank you.

Our waiter Yaser was so wonderful! Knowledgeable about the dishes, courteous. And, it’s not OK to compare - however this is one of the finest Iranian restaurants in the DMV area. Compliments to the chef and team - they put an incredible effort and it tastes absolutely fantastic!! Finally an Iranian restaurant to be proud of. Fresh, new perspectives, dedicated to thousands of years of culture and history. Fresh naan, fresh herbs, the rice ….it was truly wonderful! This was our second time and we will come back again!!

Update to my previous review:

My experience at Darvish Restaurant was absolutely delightful, thanks to Nayada, our server. She is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. Nayada has a warm personality that makes you feel welcome and cared for from the moment you sit down. Her attentiveness and professionalism elevated our meal, making it truly enjoyable. Thank you for such exceptional service!

I recently dined at Darvish Persian Restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, with rich and authentic flavors that truly captured the essence of Persian cuisine. The Barbari bread is the best. The cocktails were excellent, expertly crafted and perfectly complementing the meal. The restaurant's decoration was tasteful and added to the overall pleasant ambiance. The customer service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend Darvish Persian Restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy great food and a fantastic dining experience.

Beautiful restaurant!

We visited on a Sunday and truly enjoyed our meals and time spent there.

Interior design sets this restaurant apart from the rest of Persian restaurants in the DMV area. Looks like an old French mansion. Works great for date nights.

Food was delicious. Kabab Torsh standing out compared to other kabobs.

Service was annoying. The waitress (Maya?) who was assigned to our group tried to seat us right at the door while the whole restaurant was empty. The entire time she was being extremely pushy to sell (despite us ordering more food than we could possibly eat!!) and disappeared as soon as she got her tip. Strange attitude of hers was not appreciated.

Prices are higher but well worth the quality and experience at this beautiful restaurant.

Thank you! We’ll be back hoping we would not see that waitress again.

My pal & I have birthdays two days apart. We do one dinner and we make sure we treat ourselves. Although I am persian, due to being a vegetarian I don't find myself frequently in persian restaurants because lamb shank and kabobs are not in my list. First of all their website is truely user friendly and using my google credential making reservation happened in less than 20 second. I strongly recommend making reservations. I used to own a restaurant. I take a glance at a facility and I can tell how much thought and taste are put in to the place or things just happened haphazardly. One of the top fine dining venues I have been to, a menu that very tastefully put together by a chef and a great wine list. We had Cauliflower as starter ( heavenly), he had lamb shank & Basmati rice (he totally left a happy plate) and I had the Beet Salad companied by Famous Persian noodle soup. Presentation of the items were superb.
I am gonna use this review to relay a message to my fellow Persians. Businesses have to make their overheads and also generate profit, otherwise they have to close their doors. Not only Darvish is a Fine dining facility, it is also located on Connecticut Ave NW which means their overhead is much higher than a persian Fast food chain located on a small street. So please, please before you crucify them because of their prices take the above mentioned factors in consideration. Their prices in their class are in the medium closer to low range. It was 2 of us , bottle of wine, starter , main course and after drink and our bill was still less than $200 which is pretty good for NW DC where dinner for two in a casual restaurant on 14th costs about $110. Now I am not rich, I can not afford to have a bill in a place more than $100 every time I eat out, but we all treat ourselves for special occasions. Also need to be mentioned if we did not have a bottle of wine and just order a meal our bill would have been right in the range of a DC restaurant. They opened in July. I take pride that there is a venue with a Persian chef and the food of our motherland is presented as it's best. Wish you all the luck and prosperity. We really enjoyed our evening with sincere and genuine hospitality of Maddy (our server) who really impressed me with his serving skills ( wine, serving, keeping up withe drinks and managed not to be annoying doing all of that) as young as he is. We will be back.

Darvish is a bold attempt to elevate Persian cuisine to an upscale level, and it delivers, especially for those who aren't familiar with the flavors of Iran. The food is fantastic, but there's a significant caveat: it's on the pricier side, especially considering the context of traditional Persian food. For those who aren't Persian, however, it could be a real treat. The location is in a very expensive part of town, so the prices may be justified by the overhead, though it's still something to consider.

The service, while friendly and attentive, did feel a bit too eager, almost to the point of being rushed. We started dining at 7, and by 8:30, we were being pushed out. The check was presented to us far too early, and the staff seemed to hover around, eager to clear the table and move on to the next. This rushed feeling, while understandable in a busy area, detracted from the overall experience.

The food was a highlight, though. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful, paired excellently with the baghali polo (herbed rice with dill and fava beans). My friend really enjoyed the kabab barg as well. Overall, it’s a great spot, but the price point might make it feel more like a special occasion place than a go-to for regular Persian dining.

I'm excited to try Namak, a newer Persian restaurant uptown, to see how it compares, especially considering the growing Persian food scene in DC as of Fall 2024.

I made a reservation here for my birthday. I was very excited to visit the restaurant as I’ve seen numerous social media posts recommending this restaurant for its food and ambiance.

When we got to the restaurant, we were seated promptly. I was very impressed with the decor. Despite there being empty tables both on the first and second floor, we were seated close to the door, where it was quite cold. In particular, my elderly grandmother who is extremely sensitive to the cold continued wearing her jacket because of how cold it was. I wanted her to feel comfortable and politely explained the situation to our waiter and asked him if we could be seated somewhere else. I even mentioned that I understood that it might not be a possibility. Rather than politely declining, the waiter laughed in my face and told me no and walked off.

Throughout our entire visit, the service was attentive but we felt rushed and our waiter hovered a lot. Within five minutes of sitting down, we were asked to order. I explained that we were waiting on someone else and within 2-3 minutes of them arriving (they arrived 2-3 minutes after we were initially asked) we were asked again to order. I had to tell the waiter that we needed about five more minutes to look at the menu.

The prices were fairly similar to other Persian restaurants I’ve been to. This is with the exception of having to pay an additional $7 for rice, so please keep that in mind if you plan to visit.

Our food arrived quickly and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Personally, I felt that most of the food was a bland and underwhelming. I liked the Ghormeh Sabzi, but the kabobs and rice were standard.

Once we finished eating, our food was quickly cleared out and we were asked if we wanted dessert. We politely declined. Immediately after, someone came and wiped down our table, which we found odd as that’s typically done after a party leaves.

During this time, we were promptly given the check and after paying, we continued talking for about 5-7 minutes before we were rudely interrupted by our waiter. Before interrupting us, as he was walking to our table, he made eye contact with me and gestured that we needed to leave. When he was at our table he told us that we had to go. We all were shocked that we were kicked out of the restaurant and quickly put our coats on to leave. We were not there for a long time at all— our visit in total was about an hour and 15 minutes.

Overall, our experience was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. This is mainly due to the service. I do not plan on returning and would not recommend it.

This is my second time at Darvish, and it was considerably better than the first. My server, Yaser, was attentive and kind, and spoke great Farsi (much better than mine), whereas on my first visit, it seems the non-Persian server was confused by my Persian pronunciation of items on the menu. The only reason I must give the food a 4 stars as opposed to 5 is the fact that the Tahdig (crispy rice) was not nearly crispy enough. Otherwise, the food, service, and atmosphere were great. Merci, Yaser jan!
