Listen to me! We are in Southeast DC, and I have finally found it. A Black-owned smokehouse that actually knows what they’re doing! It’s bold, it’s authentic, and it’s bloody brilliant.
Let’s start with the ribs. A full rack. Dry-rubbed with precision. Whether you use the BBQ sauce on the side or eat them exactly as they come, the meat is stunning. It’s tender, it’s succulent, and it pulls away from the bone with absolute ease. That is how you treat a product with respect!
And the hush puppies? Wow. They are so good they make you shut up, sit down, and eat them as fast as humanly possible! The texture is spot on.
Then we move to the wings—perfectly cooked, skin rendered beautifully, served with fries that are piping hot and crisp. Not soggy, not limp, just perfection. And the Brussels sprouts? They were perfect. The char, the seasoning—it’s a masterclass in how to handle vegetables in a smokehouse.
D City Smokehouse, you are a credit to the community and a credit to the craft. Passion on every plate. Simply superb. Well done!

I really enjoy the food from DCity Smokehouse. Everything was good but my favorite items are the wings, collard greens, and the Champ sandwich. The ribs, sausage, and potato salad are runner ups. The service was good and everyone was nice and attentive.

Honestly! I hate that I spent 99$ on trash! The meat was hard,dry,rubbery and not fresh. We ordered rib tips and there were only about 5 tips and the rest were just other pieces of meat but yet that costs our 22$, the spare ribs.. not fresh.. full of other meat pieces except what you asked for... The oxtail was dry as well and rubbery... this was such a bad experience expecially since we were craving bbq... so disappointed! Coz that was not worth the money

Finally got a chance to check out DCity smokehouse !! We ordered to go so we can watch football and eat, got all the way home and they forgot to pack my Brisket, but once I called they had no problem of having it ready for me to pick it up. Food is good bean will probably be a skip next time, chili was good just more in a spicy side which my husband is not a fan of the spice, food was not hot so we had to reheat everything.

Today I went in and ordered rib tips. Bottom line, the meat was not fresh. I like this establishment, however with the prices charged, I don’t think it’s fair that I get old dry meat. Update: I heated some rib tips in the oven. Drizzled water on them to help moisten. Still bad, tough. Don't palm off old meat please. Some people have compromised immune systems.

Man, idk what happened or was it just bad timing. This is NOTHING like the OG location on Fla. Ave. Now, FLAVOR WAS INSANE🔥🔥💯💯but thats all......burnt ends were very much like jerky. Dry and very small. The brisket again FLAVORFUL but DRY....too lean!! I wanted to ENJOY here better than the other but ITS WASNT CLOSE...and also 74 bucks for a meal that wasn't good beyond smell and eating seasoning bark....RIDICULOUS, that was ALOT for 1 meal, a drink and fries!!!😮‍💨🙃🥺

Ordered delivery from here and the wings were missing. The brisket was all fat, see for yourself in the photo. I’ll avoid this place in the future.

I love this place! The Whiskey Bar in SE is it for me! Now, I still don’t love smoked meat - but there are other eats that fit the need. Come for the drinks, stay for the good time.

Tender moist brisket, piping hot greens with a sweet note, and eclectic jalpeño grits. The service is friendly and professional.

The one weak point of this place is that the seating kind of sucks, with unduly high bolted in stools mismatched to a counter that’s too low for them. Then they have those common cheap metal counter stools with the handle in the seat. There are no tables here during my visit in September 2025. I’ve been here several times, but I don’t ever recall settling into a comfortable table to relax and dine-in here. This could all be designed to incentivize patrons to take their food to go. But don’t think you’re going to have a comfortable place to relax here as you sit down to a sumptuous meal.

I ordered thru Uber eats, I was disappointed with my order. $25 for 1/2 rack spareribs. They were not fresh and cold. Not bashing just giving my review. I see lots of reviews where the owner keeps saying the reviews are for clout and fake. That's unprofessional and not taking accountability. As for me, I'm over it. Life moves on.

I’ve been here a couple of times. I’ve always had great service with great food. On my most recent visit, I was treated badly. I don’t want to say it was because the color of my party and I skin however no one else was treated this way. My coworker recorded a video and posted onto social media. Customer service should be just as important as the product you’re selling. We won’t be back.
