The food was good, chicken was a bit dry and I asked for dark meat but seasoned pretty well. The Brussels sprouts were a bit greasy but good

To all my Charlotte folks… think Viva Chicken.
My only real gripe? They dared to toss a bag of whole baby carrots into the Brussels sprouts. Come on—chop those things up! 🥳
That aside, the Brussels sprouts themselves had great flavor. The balsamic glaze really popped, adding a tangy sweetness that paired well with the earthy sprouts. I do wish they had been roasted a bit longer, though—they were still a little too firm for my taste.
The plantains, on the other hand, stole the show. Beautifully charred and caramelized on the outside, while staying soft, warm, and perfectly sweet on the inside.
And then there’s the chicken—the heart of the meal. The Peruvian seasoning came through nicely, especially on the breast, which stayed tender (though it felt like it was about three minutes shy of tipping into dryness). The thigh and leg, however, were spot on: juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right.
Overall, definitely worth a stop if you’re craving those bold, comforting Peruvian flavors.

I LOVE the food at District Rico - the food is very high quality for price and packed full of flavor. I LIVE for the mac n cheese here - there’s something in it that’s so creamy and has a flavor other than cheese. They have rotating sides though so be aware it’s only on certain days. I really enjoy the brussel sprouts and carrots with the glaze. I also get the yucca and plantains. The rice is also tasty. I don’t eat chicken but my husband enjoyed the half chicken and the yellow side sauce was fabulous. I think the prices are very reasonable for a filling meal as I always leave so full and happy.

Loved this spot! The food was delicious and affordable, and the service was awesome: super nice crew with a chill vibe. Ordered the beef saltado and it was amazing! Highly recommend because this was like a unique version of loaded fries.

Fantastic food at a fantastic price. The fried rice was excellent, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The workers there were also very friendly and offered great service. Excellent choice!

Food is always good. Sadly the place is small and finding seating is a bit of a challenge on busy days.
