While it pains me to write this review, the experience was so bad that I feel like I must. This was legitimately some of the worst Mexican/Salvadorian food I have ever had. To begin, I think it is a red flag when someone tries to order a frozen margarita and gets told it HAS to be a flavored one, meaning they are likely about to pour tequila into some Island Oasis mix and call it a day. That being said, I still wanted one, so I gave it a chance. Bad does not even begin to describe it. It was straight blended ice. No taste of strawberry, lime, or tequila. Very off-putting way to start the meal. The food was not much better. The salsa for the chips was not good. It had an odd taste that is hard to describe. I ordered one of the combos that had the pupusa, burrito, and enchilada. The burrito was a straight-up insult. Instead of a traditional burrito, I received a miniature one with very little filling inside the tortilla. The tortilla itself was the size of a taco tortilla. But the worst thing about it is that they seemed to have topped it with the same unpleasant salsa that they gave with the chips. The enchilada filling was fine to me, though I was disappointed they did not offer a verde option, but they once again topped it with the SAME SALSA. I am by no means an expert in LATAM food, but even dining at a semi-decent LATAM restaurant will tell you that they shouldn't all be the same salsa. Rice was unfortunately bland (everything was kind of bland). The only redeeming item was the pupusa, which was actually very good. Under most circumstances, I wouldn't even bother writing a review, but the most insulting thing was the fact that I paid $40-$50 for flat-out unappetizing food full of laziness and cut corners. If the plates were $8, this quality would be more understandable, but $50 for two people demands a higher quality than this. Attempting to reuse the same salsa for multiple items is insulting, especially when the flavor and texture don't even match the items that they are supposed to complement. For example, I have never seen an enchilada sauce be chunky. Nor have I ever seen such a small burrito. This restaurant has a rich history in the city (apparently) and a nice interior, but the food was so bad that it ruined the experience entirely. Avoid this place until they get their act together.
Was ok in a pinch but not great. Queso was bland. It was ballpark nacho cheese watered down.

I love Don Juan but spending 30 dollars to drink 1 Michelada and eat chips with guacamole is unreasonable. Kicking out a table because they are drinking and not eating is ridiculous!

Love the patio, and late night hours. I also appreciate the chill service. Takeout is fast when looking for that. A happy hour would be nice, but overall, it hits all the marks!
They demanded us to consume more than we wanted and kicked us out because we refused.
Terrible ownership

We waited at our table over an hour and a half for 2 burritos. This place needs new kitchen management if they think that's a reasonable time to wait. The restaurant was full and almost no one had their food.
Lovely place in Mt Peasant. It has great vegetarian options. Decent prices and great margaritas! Very nice and lively outdoor seating

I used to live across the street from Don Juan. It’s a great spot to get takeout. I would get the nachos or the fajita platters. They give you large portions, the cheese on the nachos is nicely melted, and the carne asada/chicken are nicely seasoned. They have good margaritas, and there’s sometimes live music if you go on a Saturday night. I wouldn’t necessarily travel across all of DC just to go to Don Juan, but if you live in the neighborhood I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

This is a bit of a scam - they charge $15 for a small amount of guacamole and salsa that tastes store bought

Food that we asked wasn't the greatest soup had not a pleasant odor. My partner soup also was we poor with the ingredients, chips they served were not at their best, beer i asked wasn't cold enough more like warm beer & price for the type of food we ordered should be more professional at the way they make their food

I was a little disappointed with the food. it seems like they use the cheapest ingredients and canned food. Rice and beans weren't the best, and we randomly ordered cheese dip. I'm not sure if it was on the menu or not, but it wasn't queso. Just canned jalapeno cheese. The guacamole and salsa were good, nothing to write home about.
We got fajitas, the chicken was simple, and steak was good but fatty. And as you can see in our pictures, mainly came with onions. Not many peppers, unfortunately. Our drinks were okay but just seemed like a pretty made mix.
The prices are a little cheaper but still ran 2 people $100 with gratuity.
